I feel the same way, but he go bullied out of his job by our side. And as a Dem, we're supposed to take the high road. Unfortunately, this happened in the sweet spot where there wasn't a notion of taking "getting cancelled" to far. Male advocates of me too movement were silenced in fear of having the spot light on them and taking inane interactions of their past to the extreme. If what happened, happened a year later, I doubt it would have been news worthy.
I think I 1st noticed it during Reagan, he'd say the most outlandish things on TV & no one in the main media would call him out on it. Only comedians confirmed suspicions that he out right lied or was genuinely bananas. You guys are in the public service business.
There is a podcast with Oswalt as a guest where they go through all the nonsense and BS from Reagan. I just listened to it. It's here on TH-cam someplace. Two parts. "The Dollup"?
I miss you in congress Al! I was an admirer of how prepared you were in committee hearings. Dems blew it with you on that one! Run for governor or president!!!
Excellent discussion. The best podcasts make the “audience” feel like we are eavesdropping on an insider conversation about [pick the subject]. That’s what this was, and it was GREAT hearing about touring and how difficult it can be to write new material, etc. Enjoyed it, subscribed, and looking forward to more 🙏🙏
In the 1970s, & 80s when I traveled through Southern Ohio, I'd stay at privately owned motels, which sometimes were like small cabins, but others were those cheap, rows of suites. I always brought my own framed art that I would hang on the walls. Back then, those places had nothing on the walls and they were often covered in real knotty pine, varnished boards. The knots were dark colored and resembled hundreds of creepy eyes, staring at me. I also always brought small hand tools, & some misc. hardware, because there were often toilets that didn't stop running, or curtains that didn't quite shut, & questionable room door locks. A few lengths of hanger wire, could be bent to secure the room door, better.
Regarding the line, "you punch a bully once they go away.": that's not always true. I remember in one of Pratchett's Discworld books, he said that THESE bullies (the rich ones) aren't cowards and they just come back and punch you harder. I think it was one of the ankh-morpork or Watch books
Finally! A Great one! For once. Love Patton Oswalt, but when it's just his voice, all I can think of is Remy the rat. And picturing a rat having this talk with Al Franken makes it even better.
20:51 Al? You want to see the first few rows? Take a big ass flashlight out with you. Lol 😊 (who said that? Mom? That you? Aw c’mon Mom! Not here too!)
This is the second time in a week I have heard two comedians talking and one asks the other if they've seen 'I Think You Should Leave' -the other was Neil Brennan's 'Blocks' show but I can't remember who the guest was, maybe Silverman? ANYWAY .... the Tim Robinson skits ......I have never experienced comedy that had quite that effect on me before. It's kinda like a drug you're trying for the first time and when it kicks in, it's like a fuh king MULE kick, you definitely didn't get ripped off, but man, it's SO strong, and .... do you actually _like_ it??? Yyyyyyyyes? Okay, yes. Yes. But..... Not every skit, but I would say at least half of them ... I just get to laughing so hard it's like an electrode is relentlessly zapping my brain's laugh center. And thank dog it's pausable video, because sometimes it gets to where I can't even keep my eyes open, my whole face is grimacing, painfully, tons of tears, snot, my arms windmilling and my legs scissoring -I'M TALKING ACTUAL SPASMING. From one skit to the next, and after a while I am truly exhausted. ....And .... I don't even know _why_ . Like WHY is it so funny?! Again, it feels induced, unnatural, like they're doing something subliminal with the screen or, hell I don't know. OH! Holy sh I just realized -it's like when you were little and some a=hole grown-up would mercilessly tickle you!!
Oh great, I was missing Keith Olbermann so now I get a repeat. Al should just get serious, move to a red state and take a risk. Millions love him and he can lacerate any mental sloth. Happy New Year, run in Montana. Or S Carolina. Or West Virginia.
How did we go from the political reality of Gary Hart’s career being ended by an affair to where outrage is now an attractive feature of our man? My conjecture: outrage is now a feature not a bug because it’s a way to brag that democracy is over and there’s not a thing you can do about it, so just give up. Which you two don’t do. Thank you.
Al, you two didn't have to flaunt in front of us that you were going out to dinner afterward, where we obviously wouldn't be. Is that how your mama raised you??
Why is "Of" capitalized and "is" isn't? Is it possible you still haven't looked up the rules of capitalization in titles and are still free-styling it at this age? I guess it's never too late to learn.
These are two great comics. However, hotel and airplane rides? Really? Oh, and ppl like Trump because gas, rent, and food are too high and Democrats tell them that abortion and trans rights are more important. I'm simplifying, but you get the picture.
See, the Republicans have gotten crazier and crazier and the Democrats have stayed the exact same. That is the Franken perspective. Oh, and they can't make fun of Trump because, Trump is too crazy. Or, and this is just speculation, Trump is a funnier comic than Franken at this time in both of their careers.
Great show Al!! Still miss you in the Senate!! Wish you wouldn't have resigned. 😉

Oh man, I travel frequently for work. So much of this resonated with me. My OCD can't deal with the damn message light on the phone!

That was the best metaphor for Trump/Trumpism I've ever heard.
Thank you!

Oswalt is a National Treasure.

52:30 "Views and clicks have eclipsed content and meaning." That needs to get repeated.
One of your best Al (and Patton). Promptly donated to Midwest Values (flyovers) PAC
Smart and funny thank you!
Good stuff🤣

Love the hotel stuff! Have always wondered why those scalding-hot-water-first showers don't result in more lawsuits.
Where are you guys going to be after jan25. Btw clive james and germaine greer were at uni together.
Edgy comic turned queeeez master
He is wearing a wedding band on the right and left hands!
Listening to two comedic geniuses disgust the ebb and flow of society is truly an honor.
Thanks Guys.... for the kids

33:36 Is it only famous people that are “allowed” to do voice overs?
I can keep up with trump because my job sucks and my family hates me so I have lots of time to write trump jokes everyday
No one uses the word "an" anymore. Stay in skool!
