I was introduced to Charley's fiddle playing via youtube by my Doctor here in Canada, who knows Charley, as he is an inlaw. What a great treat this was for me to sit and listen to the master himself. I love his bowing style which is very fluid. keep up the fiddling there is no better past time, a labor of love. Listening in CANADA.
Thanks for all the views and kind comments. I thought viewers might be interested to know this performance was part of a tour I organised in 2012 to highlight Irish tune composers. It was such an honour to tour Ireland with Liz and Mairtín, where we were joined by other composers in their localities. This video comes from our concert with Charlie Lennon in his home county Leitrim, we also played with Charlie in Dublin, where he used to live and work. On other dates during the tour we performed with the late Tommy Peoples in Donegal and Clare, and Peadar O Riada in Cork. It was an amazing experience to accompany these master composers and musicians. The only regret is that we never made an album at the time. That would have been a treat!
Irish traditional music at it's finest .. precision, timing and synchronization is impeccable. Perfect! Mairtin O Connor's twisting and turning of the accordion reeds is fiddle like and flows brilliantly with Charile Lennon and Liz Carroll fiddle playing. Delicate guitar work lightly compliments the sound. Great selection of tunes played by superb musicians! A real treat.
Good old Martin! He tickles that box lightly and all those marvellous sounds come tumbling out. In his position I'd be tying myself in knots, playing bum notes and missing the beat! That's a proper musician for you.
Lovely soft music with many fine variations, rhythmic ,harmonious Easy on the ear and a joy to listen to The late great Joe Bourke and Coleman too would certainly approve Beautiful
Brilliant musicians - cannot be beaten. The last tune is "The Bucks of Aranmore" - a Scottish reel. I'm from Galway, Ireland, and I know for sure that no reel was ever composed in Oranmoe, Galway, Ireland, though we did compose many many other reels.
The mad thing is Charlie's an astro-physicist or some other expert in the science field! How crazy is God that he distributes talent so unfairly! Or is it maybe something to do with diligence, intelligence and practice? More likely the latter. Either way thank God for Charlie Lennon (and of course Liz Carroll and Martin O Connor).
Genetics must surely be a factor in the musical brilliance of the Lennon extended family. There’s Charlie’s brother Ben, Ben’s brilliant son Maurice - not to mention John.
RIP Charlie. Thanks so much for all the great tunes, musical memories, encouragement and friendship.
It doesn't get much better than this!
yes, it does. Play it again...
Music at its very best. Thanks to all you brilliant musicians .
Played perfectly fine and true. The heart of the matter pierced with precision.

Well look Dessie
Fantastic music. . Pity they didnt add Cooleys
Pure a wee bit deadly. Dont you think
Don’t half get the old feet going.
The problem with playing music this fast is that the grace notes are missed and the soul of the tune gets lost in the midst of the vamping.
Must be from revenue
How in Gods name can you unlike this..🤦♂️🤦♂️
We need this speed...
1977😂
It's easy to get lost in this music. There's no pretense here.
