Dear Bhante, When the Buddha describes mindfulness of the five hindrances, he also mentions mindfulness of their absence. Why and how is such mindfulness relevant during Samasati practice? Sometimes, when one of the hindrances in one form or another is losing its power in us and passing away, we are aware of that. That is understandable, but why do we need to be mindful of the absence of things? Thank you!🙏

the more i meditate the more i hear a voice that teaches me or lectures me about subtleties and universal truths. As if im listening to what He says and understanding it, the realization, the truths, the explaining. But it seems to be more of an internal dialogue where I ask questions and get answers. Though I am not sure if it is ego playing tricks, or if I am imagining it, or just putting a whole act. But all the knowledge that i have listened to has been confirmed externally through the books I read, through my weekly lectures at the temple on Saturday ( Gita Class ) or from simple observation without impeding thought. Even the 'visions' or 'deities' I experience in deeper meditation, seems to be real sometimes, but again i am not sure if it ego playing tricks or my imagination just having an act. This usuallyt happens when my body is fully relaxed, and cant be moved without effort. And my headspace is fully peaceful and nice.
though with focus I can hone it all out and have full silent external awareness where i just listen to the external sounds in silence or focus on silent itself. my breathe is minimal barely moving. barely breathing as well.
Thank you so much for responding to my question, it brought me an incredible amount of peace. I will write to you to explain my situation more. You've already given me a great gift by reminding me of the suffering of desire, even if that desire appears to be for good.
Hello Bhante. When in doubt, what do you personally do? Do you refer to the suttas or do you simply just meditate on the experience of doubt and recognise it as just another phenomena of mind subject to cessation? I hope you're happy and well. With metta, Arran, East Sussex.

No, but if they are encouraging your meditation and you are enjoying it that's good. You've been to other places, so can make informed decisions. Sukhi Hontu

Hah this is funny. I recently had one of these. I was contemplating hell, how it is all fake and brought forth by the mind, because new testament describes it as fire and brimstone. Well, brimstone burns with a blue flame, not yellow. As I walked I passed by a narrow tire shop and peeked into the lunch room. Then I looked at the narrow street and the warm light from buildings and the scenery. I felt an emediate rise of pleasant feelings, I kept thinking of it for three hours.
I notice many of the questions you receive are statements! thank you again for your talks 🙏
