    The Audix sounded awesome on the low tuning. Wasn't expecting that.

    The best snare mic is the one you have.
    Edit: Having actually watched the video I think what we've proven is the singer walking away from their +35dB in the gain stage with +7dB on the fader SM58 is the best snare mic on the market right now.

    Drum tunings on a shootout is not a factor I ever even considered but that's super helpful wow

    Audix i5 and SM57, normally I use SM57 on top (those are the only two I have worked on so far 😁)

      @@dineru2004 heck yeah! I was honestly pleasantly surprised by the i5 in context of the others. I really enjoyed it on the higher tunings :)

      @@loganmurphymusic Can you do same type of video for Kick drum, what I've seen is when it comes to drums as a whole we tend to ignore the kick and later struggle in the mix trying to get the sound we are trying to get when there's no details in the source track and end up using samples, I myself faced that sometimes, because as a starter when we record we rarely go deep in kick because it's already sounds good there but not when mixing, it would be better to have go to positions on kick mics we should place mics to get the different types of sound 🙌

    Great comparison! Would it be possible to create a version of this video where you put each mic solo'd next to each other and each mic in the mix next to each other? Going from one mic in a mix to the next mic solo'd makes it a more difficult comparison to me.

    Which combo is your favorite??

    • @compucorder64
      @compucorder64 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I think SM57 high for me, but 57 medium sounded good too. Usually, I use a Beyer m201 in combo with a SM57 or 7b. Pearl snare too, most often medium high tuning.

      @ love that! I definitely enjoy the 57 more on the higher tunings as well. I’m typically not a fan of the i5 but it also kind of surprised me on the higher tunings
