Ya I have a 1976 Catalina 27. Had to replace almost all the wiring. Ac originally came with no galvanic isolator and 2 prong battery charger. And no gcfi protected outlets. Lots of damage and if it had been in fresh water could be deadly. Lots of changes in codes since these boats came out. West marine sells 2 prong battery chargers for use at home. They sell built in 3 prong chargers for use on your boat. You don’t want to eat up the metal on your and your neighbors boats or zap your diver. So great to see you are fixing it up. Good luck! So gcfi protected outlets like in your bathroom at home. Galvanic isolator on your ac ground. 3 pronged battery charger
Yea on a Boat The size of this one. Wherein the Pilot can easily get wet and in rough sea the boat can get wet. I would DC The Lower Outlet that had rust coming out of it. The Makers should have installed all the outlets Higher up. Just a little water inside and while the boat is rocking could get the lowest outlet wet.
Very informative, many thanks captain.
Very educational. Many of us are noobs with the electronic wiring. Thank you.
When you pull out the outlet, the wire looks like ROMEX which is household wire. If so, it would be best to pull in new marine triplex wire.
