Back in November when it was first released, my travel ball organization had a rawlings equipment day. I got the chance to swing the icon that day. I knew that it was hot, but I didn't enjoy swinging it because of the thin and slick grip. Never knew it was this good though.
My college team is sponsored by Rawlings and we have some icons and some little dudes have hit some absolute shots with em. Only issue with the bat is there is only one left on our team that still has the end cap attached, all the other ones have popped off. The one that still has an end cap is cracked on the barrel toward the connection piece too. Pretty frustrating for anyone who will be buying w their own money but if you somehow have the chance to swing this bat for free then absolutely do.
Good for Rawlings!! I never thought a bat would beat the Voodoo or The Goods, then the Atlas and Icon came out and it’s just getting better and better! Love to see it!

The end cap on this bat is cheap as hell. Our local D1 University has a bat contract with Rawlings. They got the bats before the season started and had durability problems. They sent many bats back for warranty issues by just taking BP.
Atlas has gotta reign supreme. At a $200 discount for equal or better performance. I’m excited for that vid in the next couple of hours.

Bought the ICON for my son and he has the Voodoo one as well. He now prefers the ICON over the Voodoo. ICON actually feels a lot like the Voodoo in swing weight. Probably should be more like 7 instead of a 5 on the swing weight chart. ICON is legit though.
The sound of the Icon reminds me of the Demarini CF4 Black BESR from 2010.

My son shattered the end cap on day 2 of BP! If wasn’t for Tracy at Rawlings coming thru and exchanging it in less than 3 days time…. I’d be bashing reliablity! So have a new one for the weekend series!! I’ll see what happens!! But bat has some pop ….. 500 but will it be reliable……
That's composites for you. If you want to prevent your wallet from crying itself to sleep every year, trying getting him on the 2-piece hybrid train, or even a 1-piece alloy if he's a strong lad that can handle the weight of -3 well.

Imo the icon has the best sweet spot towards the hands of any bbcor bat. That’s a composite speciality. Some other two pieces will have more barrel towards the end but the icon is the goat of hitting jam shots like 110

I swung the Icon at closeout bats and honestly I was a tad biased because I generally never hit well with composite bats, seems like if I actually gave it a chance I’d be better off, still happy with my Atlas tho

Durability? No way anyone should lay out $500 for a bat with such a short track record. We have no idea if it will even last a season.

This bat is the complete package. Need a different park than Fenway to test a right handed hitters distance.
The hit trax measures the distance to ground no matter what. It’s in the top corner next to the exit velo. The number on screen is where it runs into something at whatever stadium is loaded but it’s not really important.

@@thekoz5158 they can’t do that on hittrax officially. And again, the stadium doesn’t matter for the hit trax anyway.
Regardless, they took unrestricted bats and usssa drop 5s to the HR record attempt and didn’t really get close. A BBCOR ain’t gonna do it. They are restricted. 110 is nowhere close to fast enough for the HR record, you need 130+ because the record is probably fake.
Theyre expensive but at least the performance and quality back it up. Also people don't have to spend 500 on a bat, go with what you like in your price range etc . Cracks me up seeing people complaining like to play you have to buy the most expensive bat on the market to be good.

I played in the mid 00's, bats were never more than $300 back then. Id be willing to bet this bat would have been in that range back then, but you know....inflation

It was really funny when Marucci came out with the Cat 9 composite for 500 dollars and it was really bad. It isn’t funny when the 500 dollar two piece composite is possibly by far the best bat in BBCOR.

This bat should have gotten a 26 on the bat bro scale. I understand that you don't want to boost a $500 bat into the stratosphere, but from all the evidence you have collected, this bat is in a class of its own. Your score should reflect that. In your glo-stick v icon video, you said the swing weight of the icon was "nearly identical" to the glostick (2:10 mark), which you rated a 6 in your '22 quatro v glowstick video (10:05 mark). And I don't see a reason why the icon shouldn't be a 10 sweet spot. If anything, you got better hits off the hands with the icon rather than the goods. So 10 power, 10 sweet spot, 6 swing weight. I think you need to do one last head-to-head with the icon. Do select pwr/bonesaber hybrid to suss out a 9 vs 10 on sweet spot, and some 4/5/6 bats on swing weight.

Word of wisdom on Lizard Skins for all the people out there. 0.5mm is meant almost exclusively for wood bats. 1.1 mm is the standard thickness of most factory grips, and is the most popular size of Lizard Skins. 1.8mm is meant for the younger kids, as it obviously has the most padding. Regardless of thickness, ALWAYS remove your existing grip, never use it as an over grip. This ain’t tennis.
The double-up is a cheat code. Trust.
Love how 2 months ago the Bonesaber Hybrid goes 105+ against The Goods, and gets no love here.
Is there feedback from the barrel (compression on sweet spot)? For example, the Atlas and Goods has such a stiff barrel that you don't really know if you're hitting the sweet spot or not.

I don't get why people are so mad about a rawlings bat being $500 when the price is based off of the fact they've been out of the market when it comes to 2 piece NEW TECH. Sure the price sucks but this whole channel has proven that there are bats that are close to being just as good for not the same price.

they just merged last year so it's gonna take awhile for the tech to merge completely. But yeah right now it seems that they're borrowing pieces from both sides

One of two things is happening here.
1. This bat is juiced and will be decertified based on bbcor tests or abi tests. Composites with this much barrel forgiveness have been known to pass velocity tests and fail mishit performance falloff tests
2. Rawlings is exploiting loopholes in the bbcor test
My concern with something so much better than anything before it would be how long until the rules committee puts it on the chopping block. This will happen if batting performance sees a significant uptick this year
It'll break BBCOR and get banned like the Meta from 2020, Composites almost never perform this good as BBCORs, the technology is not consistent with the stringent standards of BBCOR, and weighting it to -3 properly is why we get a million stinkers like the post-ban Metas and DeMarini composites, and the actually good ones get banished to the shadow realm before July.
