Some notes: 1- At 3:20 I confused the word "Hides" with "Tides", lmao. 2-I forgot to mention a type of enemy that consists of a sort of earth-worm that fires homing energy blasts useful to resolve some dedicated puzzels 3- Yes, the game is not a masterpiece and, maybe, I sound more enthusiastic than many others which instead have demolished it but, for fuck sake, it's the work of only three people! I consider it a great achievement for such a small team, even if certain mechanics are bland (the survival mechanics can be disabled and the difficulty lowered in order to make it a clone of SOTC set in a snowy island). It's not a 5/10 and not even a 9/10... let's say a 7.5/10 which is still a good vote imho... mediocre votes are others. Maybe i have played a well optimized build with many quality of life additions, I don't know if the original release state was some kind of disaster.
Yes this game definitely deserves more love as well as a physical release. Not sure if the dev's that made it are still working on it to improve it or expand it, but hopefully they are. There is a lot to do in this game if you take the time to unlock the entire map, explore every cave, solve every puzzle, collect every item, take down not just the 8 main bosses but also the 4 mini bosses. "Praey For The Gods" is a nice love letter to "Shadow Of The Colossus" & hopefully one day it will get the respect & attention it deserves.
Well, I found all the clothes (I was kinda lucky to obtain the knight armor that requires the consumptiion of those seeds which give extra stamina!), 56 totems and almost all notes... But I found a total of three champions (it also gives an achievement for that), not four (therefore, they respawn) and I'm pretty sure I explored all the map... well whatever. Yes, the game offers much to explore and in fact i played for 20 hours before reaching the end. I would have liked to find everything but i wanted to finish it and review it because I have other games to play (and maybe cover in videos). I'm prety sure that, just like some other games which were heavilly bashed at release, this game will be regarded as a hidden gem. Besides, on Steam the reviews are overally vey positive, maybe also because pc gamers always wanted something similar to shadow of the colossus and finally it came!
@@BucolicInsights I spent about 120 hours, which involved a lot of backtracking to make sure I didn't miss anything. There are "out of bounds" areas you can explore as well. It's tricky finding the access areas to enter these locations, but it does let you see & explore parts of the map that weren't used. As for PC gamers wanting a game like "Shadow Of The Colossus", there's always "Beyond The Forbidden Lands" which should be getting close to completion.
120 hours are indeed a lot. I tried to explore and find some niches here and there, like in the ice mountains surrounding Dreki's arena or right at the beginning where the heroine wakes up, but it was too much time consuming for me. Beyond The Forbidden Lands is also a project that I too am waiting with immense hype!
Yes that is a good point. Aside the boss battles (engaging but very similar to SOTC) the overall gameplay lacks the right depth. They wanted to make a game where you have to struggle along the way to your next objective, but at least they should have put some more variety in common enemies and weapons combos. The survival mechanics I think they are kinda right - or basic perhaps, it's not really my competence- and by choosing the medium difficulty (or boost mode) i didn't have much problems; it's still something that makes the game quite distinguishable. I hope they'll get more budget and people for their next project. They have so much passion that it would be a pity to never see something new and more refined after this.
There is actually a lot of interesting puzzles to solve, some of which are very well hidden within caves. Some caves are marked on the map even before you unlock the entire map, while others are not & you just have to explore, explore, explore, in order to find them. With a wide array of weapons, clothing, healing items, as well as the totem collecting & the battles themselves with all 12 bosses (8 main bosses & 4 mini bosses), there is actually a lot to do if you want to complete everything & see all that the game has to offer.

Sure could've used some of those hours spent building a beautiful world to think of some interesting gameplay too
