    I saw Led Zeppelin perform in Dorton Arena, Raleigh, North Carolina, April 8, 1970. They had released 2 albums at that point. They were young and new and so was I (17)! They seemed to be unscripted and very engaging with the audience. Zep returned for 4 encores and on the 4th, RP said "We don't have anymore songs!" Suggestions from the crowd rang out. The next thing I knew is they said "We'll do Blue Suede Shoes." The Elvis version was the only one I was aware of and I thought it a strange one to choose. But now I understand the whole blues influence. Live and finally learn. The best and my most cherished concert I've ever been to! BTW, ticket prices were $4-$6-$8. They are my favorite band of all times and I feel so lucky to have seen them in their early years.

    You ask how it felt for them. From having read interviews and books on them: Tbere was a big reception afterwards with many celebrities who wanted to congratulate them on their triumph. Jason was, of course, ecstatic: He had contributed so much to the rehearsals with his encyclopedic knowledge of all of Zeppelin’s bootlegs. He knew all the different ways the band had ended a song or had done a particular segment.
    Jimmy was exhausted, happy, basking in the adulation, so richly deserved, of the band he had formed. JPJ, always the quiet and reserved one, still enjoyed the reception.
    Robert, after accepting congratulations from close friends/family…drove to a seedier part of the city, away from all the hoopla, to one of his favorite Middle Eastern restaurants ….got himself a half bottle of vodka and some food, and sat at a quiet table in the back, lost in his memories and musings.
    He’d done his part for his colleagues, paid his respects to Ahmet Erdogan and his best mate Bonzo, and that was an end. Go out on top. He never looked back.
    And that, my friends…..that completely different reaction to the adulation and celebration, tells you why Robert never agreed to tour after the huge triumph of this concert: All the hoopla meant nothing to him at this point. He’d moved on. Respect

    Thank you for doing my pick! Although Kashmir is not my very favorite while I was at this show in 2007 my mind was blown! Especially being that Robert was doing much calmer and softer solo stuff and I’m really surprised at what he could pull off that night. And of course Jason brought young energy to the band and I am so thankful I was there! Great reaction!

    I could not wait...I suggested this video 3 months ago.....because Greatness is just simply Greatness and Robert Plant, in this concert at age 59, and Jimmy Page at age 63, and John Paul Jones at 61 performing their asses off in this iconic legendary modern concert was just AMAZING watching and tears fell from my eyes because I am around their ages and have seen them live 3 times and to live to see them do this.....I have no words....but now you know why my Generation of the 60's and 70's called these guys "Rock gods"

    I was lucky enough to see Plant and Page in 1997 touring with their Walking into Clarksdale album. Robert came out and announced, "We, by contract, must sing 3 new songs at each show, soooo..........Let's get them out of the way quick so we can get the LED out." Then he introduced Jimmy and within 10 minutes, we were treated to 3 hours of Zeppelin's greatest hits. It was other worldly.

    I've seen this performance many times but I always check it out again when new people react. The entire band knocks it out of the park. The vocals are incredible of course and Jimmy Page's guitar sound is awesome, especially during the "All I see..." part. 7:49 Sounds like his Les Paul is plugged into a power transformer. ⚡️⚡️⚡️Having been to tons of concerts in my life it makes it even more apparent that the people in the building, especially those in the first several sections, were so fortunate to be there. Nothing like a great live rock show.

    Let me tell you that John Paul Jones is the one who has the most musical knowledge in this band. He is the one who makes the musical arrangements of many of the songs and adds subtle touches with his instruments. What happens is that it has a very low profile and few pay attention to it, but it is essential.

    Finally back to the greatest Rock Band all time! 🤙 Sad that Robert Plant nixed them continuing on without John, and then when they could have done a tour with his son. This reunion sold out in literally minutes… Too bad they didn’t at least do one last world tour with Jason.

    • @helenespaulding7562
      @helenespaulding7562 4 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      It was almost inevitable that Robert would refuse…for so many reasons; reasons from the past and reasons regarding his present and where his heart lay at the time. Zeppelin was the past to him and he wanted it to stay there. He’d long since moved on to other projects and collaborations and that was what he wanted to concentrate on. He has never lived to fulfill the expectations of Zeppelin’s fans, but rather for his own creative spark and where it led him. And in 2007, it was leading him along a very different road from Zeppelin and that world. And practically, his voice could not have sustained a tour

    Lit up when I saw you doing Kashmir but then slouched back down in my chair when I saw it was the live version. So much is lost in that one. You can't hear the orchestration, the vocals aren't right. You know there are very few live versions I prefer, but this one in particular just does not highlight the song in its best light. Here's one vote for doing the original, too! And if you do it, be sure to have the lyrics with you. It's really important for this one. I just wish people would think a little more when they recommend songs as to which version is best, if the lyrics are important, if the video help or hurts, what to watch out for, etc.
