I was there; I worked with Howard at WCCC in 1979-80 and he had me come in to his first show on WNBC Labor Day 1982, just me Howard and Fred...and NBC newsman Neil Seavey...crazy day!
Howard Stern has his place in radio history, that is true. However, our one and only will always be...Ellis Feaster! Keep being awesome! From your friends at Royal Entertainment America.
He has his long time listeners who listen to him out of loyalty. But I know a few who found him a predictable, cringe-worthy shell of his former self...and quit listening. He dares not say anything controversial or thought-provoking for fear of backlash from the usual suspects. A complete 180.
@Vinnie Morciglio obviously you knew that the correct pronunciation of the radio station call letters are individually, using the hyphen (-) between all the letters, because otherwise the pronunciation would come out sounding into the word "Winbick" or "Winnnnbick". Correct spelling would be W-NNNNNNN-B-C. Just minor quibbling, nothing to be serious over!
I think the actual date of this aircheck I believe is Monday September 6, 1982, Labor Day, based on what's being reported in the news segment and his repeated references to the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon going on.
Didn't recognize Stern at 1st! The "stash" minus the glasses in that 1st photo threw me! I didn't see him alot until after his hair grew out and was clean-shaven. "Killing Me Softly", can't 'see' Howard playing that song, yet he did! Creative, donating jokes for Cos!
Hey Ellis, I recently restored part of WDRC’s 1967 New Year’s Eve countdown hosted by Dick Robinson. It includes Dick breaking into a song with a news flash about a fire raging in downtown New Britain. Let me know if it’s something you’d be interested in. Thanks
My goodness..I remember accidentally hearing him one afternoon around this time..and I couldn’t stop laughing..who was this maniac..kept listening for about twenty years..the news at the end with robin was my favorite part..which Imus pretty much ripped off..without the humor since Imus was never fun y or original.

Right on man!👍🏻
Early Howard Stern makes for great listening-Thanks for posting!
Glad you enjoy it!
Love him or hate him, Howard Stern revitalized radio broadcasting through innovation. People listened to see what he would do next.
You are truely doing the lord's work sir.
LOL!! Thanks.
Definitely! Ellis is the best.
When Howard Stern was a rebel!
I listen to him every so often now and I can't believe he's the same person.

Yes, you are correct, and this would probably be his first afternoon show on NBC.

I have six months worth of Russ Martin if that’s of any interest to you. I’ve posted them all on TH-cam.
