I’m 20 and about to start my own business, I’ve been an esthetician for a year and a half and now I’m finally going to do makeup, your videos have been so helpful in getting me started! Thank you so much 🤍
Hey,l found your content really helpful. I hve just started my career as a freelance makeup artist,I was confused about how should I creat my SOP, thanks to you,it made my work a lot more easier.
Yes, we are in the same situation, but I'm still trying to remain positive about it! Hopefully all goes well in Sydney and you still get to enjoy your holiday :)
Would you feel comfortable sharing with me your pricing? How much do you charge for the bride, the bridesmaids, mother of the bride? Also, how much is your travel fee? Do you charge a travel fee for every bride or only do it if its say outside of your immediate area? Also, do you charge an additional fee if the bride wants you to say for after the ceremony to do touchups? I have done freelance for maybe 15 yrs but its only been here and there, more like a paid hobby; however, I have decided to pursue it "full time" amd Ive been reaching out to several artists to get pricing. I just bought a Zuca bag, a ton of makeup, im waiting on my lighting and travel makeup chair as well as putting together an offici business logo, IG, business cards, etc. Sorry this is so long but i love your videos and how informative you are!!
Hi there! My pricing is actually publicly listed on my website if you wanted to check it out along with my travel fees (website is jmartistrymakeup.com) :) However, I strongly suggest checking out makeup artists in your area and what they charge. Artist's pricing will all depend on their location! If you haven't already, I made a video titled "how to set your rates as a makeup artist." It's linked in the description bar!
@@asmrp2p903 I personally haven't ever had to stay for touch ups for a wedding before, but I would probably just charge by the hour if it were to happen in the future! I'd probably have to think about that for a little bit to be completely honest lol I'm so glad that you've found your passion in life and are perusing it full time now! I'm not even full time with my business yet, but I'd like to be within the next couple of years . I'm so glad my videos have been informative to you! I wish you all the best with your freelance business :)
@@julieruby maybe when you reach 500k subscribers you won't be intimidated. I'll always support you Julie, it's Christmas now here in the Philippines, merry Christmas from here to IN. 😘
Do you charge separate for the trial makeup? Also do you check in with the bride the next day to see if the officially want to book? Btw your videos are amazing and so helpful ♥️
No my bridal packages include the trials. This way they feel like they’re getting more bang for their buck! I also require brides to book ahead of time to secure their date then the trials don’t take place until 2-3 months before the wedding date :)
@@thewise2443 Hi as I mentioned I require them to book in advance before the trials take place. If they choose to cancel the contract, the deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable so they will lose it. I don't give back anything at this point. If you spend the effort to do the trial and consult, you should still get compensated for this.
Aww yay so exciting! I’m not going to lie, messing up is part of the job. You don’t learn until you make mistakes and nobody is going to be 100% perfect. I still mess up sometimes in the trials. The most important thing is learning from the experiences and improving so can make yourself a better artist :)
You can check out my website: jmartistrymakeup.com for pricing :) However, please keep in mind that pricing is SUPER specific for location so please don't copy my pricing directly. I would try reaching out to makeup artists in your area and see what the average price is. I did a whole video over pricing as well. Here is the link: th-cam.com/video/RbKH5B9IuYg/w-d-xo.html
Thank you so much! Simple answer to this question is it all depends on the situation lol Sometimes I have brides that live in a different state, but they have family that lives in my area so I'll go there for the trial. I'll usually ask if they have family or friends that live locally so we can meet there. However, I have personally driven an hour away for a bridal trial. Eventually, I want to build an in-home studio so I can just have all my clients come to me :) If you know of any photographers that you work with that have studios, you could also talk to them about maybe borrowing their studio for a certain number of hours as well! Hopefully this helps!
Hi Ciara! Thanks so much :) I include all the bridal previews in my bridal packages since it’s almost seen as a standard thing. I take 50% of the bridal package for the deposit upfront so that way it covers the preview fee.
During the trial do you do the maid of honor/bridesmaids too? I’m doing my first Bridal party. Not huge only 2-3 ppl including the bride but unsure about doing the other two’s makeup the same day to make sure the bride approves too.
Hi! No I usually just do trials for the bride. However, I’m not opposed if others feel as if they need one as well. I’ve done some for mothers of the bride in the past.
Thank you! yes, I do the exact makeup that I would on the wedding day so the bride can see the complete look. Also, this will prevent any allergic reactions on wedding day as well!
@@spnaes2740 That’s completely up to you! I personally think that since you do the same work if not more on trial day then you should be charging the same amount. However, there are some artists who knock off a little of the price.
Question: if a bride wants to book you for their wedding and it’s about an year in advance, when do you schedule their trial? Do you tell the bride you’ll get back to them as the time gets closer or schedule something right away?
Great question! I usually schedule my trials 1-3 months before their wedding date and that’s exactly what I tell them after booking with me officially. I haven’t had anyone that has had an issue with it so far :)
