As an owner operator I'm guessing this guy doesn't do his own repairs and/or doesn't pay for them. One good tailgate slap should break everything loose. If it doesn't get out and spend two minutes with a shovel. I also can't believe that guys drive away with the box still up. So much lateral stress on the dump pins, the frame of the box and the truck, not to mention the lateral strain on the hoist and the hoist pins. I understand wanting to work fast, but sometimes taking an extra moment now, will save a lot of time, stress and money down the road.
I just started dump truck driving u made excellent points I almost tipped the truck when I was dumping got saved by the yard 👦 I had my tarp and gate still on and the dirt was on 1 side I was lucky 2 get saved so Im extra vigilent now
One small note, Thats a great way to ruin the rear pins in your rear door frame when you slam the gate like that, and that hard. I have a 1988 Mack tri Axle I drive, and I see a LOT of drivers complain that their gate wont latch shut after slamming it like that. And not to mention, when you brake that hard, the whole bed on the lift has a chance to come OFF the boom lift. I seen it happen, and nearly kill a driver. No need to slam the bed and load like that. Kimmyskunk
@rnrchickenman Actually I did notice that, and the 3 tailgate slams at 0:54, you see none of the dirt that is left over sliding out. So, you know what that means boys and girls... Climb into the bed and chop it out with a shovel, as the dirt must be out of the bed at day's end. But if you no wanna shovel it out, you can always try to knock the dirt out by a load of stone, but then the dirt will be mixed in that load, and you wont carry as much on the next load, as the dirt took up extra space.
Slamming the gate does break the stuck stuff loose most of the time, but the best reason I did it when I drove a tri-axle was to scare the people standing on the side that weren't expecting the loud bang, lol!!!
1971bigjohn i know what you mean my father did it all the time execept when he had to use the material once i got used to the noise i didnt pay no attention to it
Killer old DM with a good operator come back straight like that while shes falling into the muck. If he had gotten that first tailgate slap yall might have gotten shot hahaha
nice, my dad used to do that until the box came off the hoist one time. box came down like a rock and hoist split the cab in two. scary shit. he lived!!!
Gate slap is necessary to get the material out of the body. But clearly the driver needed to get in there with a shovel to loosen up that stuff on the driver side.
@Lahtinen34 Hydraulic gates are just another potential thing that could break and cost more money to repair than these types of gates. Plus with hydraulic gates u cant slam them like that to get some of the dirt thats stuck off.
It looks like you don't have a plastic liner in the dump bed. this sure eliminates having dirt stick in the corners for us. I hope you keep making new videos, they are great. thanks..
and thats how you ruin the end of the bed.. in a months time you'll be back adjusting the tailgate and welding something on the gate to minimize the gap.. but dont worry.. i do the same thing with my mack.. hahaha
ha ha !! You must be either unemployed or 80 years old, to get pissed about a little construction noise during the part of the day that decent people go to work !!
@biggrigger332 haha yeh it gets to the reader that you are getting excited typing and transferring your excitement on the keyboard and dont take a breathe cos I do that too cos some digger operators just want to push the fill into your deck and it gets mucky an stuff and man hard to clean off so .......yeah......
+Maine Man I meant most of the weight. With material like that it is most likely to stay up near the hoist.if the bed is raised to high it can cause tip over. Seen several times around here.
+Darryl Maynard Yes and No............The weight needs to be forward for proper weight distribution. If there's too much weight in the back of the truck you would end up being overweight on the rear axles even if your total load isn't overweight. It would mean spending a lot of time and effort with a shovel on the side of the road moving material to the front of the box if you were stopped by a Commercial Vehicle Inspector. So maybe easier on the hoist and less likely to tip, but also less likely to be a legal load based on the weight distribution front to back.
that's true when my older brother let me drive his mack truck it's not a truck like that tho but it's got a 5th wheel but u know that i mean tho we went to a job site and he let me drive and when i did that i stopped and put it up and drove fwd a little big and then stopped up and then emped all of the gravle out of the bed and then i stopped quickley so the bed can make shit amount of noise and it realy pissed lots of people off and it was funnier than hell !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Even with banging the gate a few times a lot of dirt was still left in the dump body. Sometimes you just need to bang it out a few times. I'm sure the hinges will be fine on that old beast of a truck.
@biggrigger332 dude you need to like use commas and periods and take a breath and stuff like that then someone could understnad what you are trying to say it may have been a good story but I dont know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

chackos123 That's exactly what I was thinking. I have friend who owns his own tri axle and I have never seen him slam it once.
Your a princess!! Go back to the city

@KimonoSkunk the reason the slam the door is to get all the sand out of the bed. If u noticed he still had a lot of sand left in the bed...
@PeterbiltEXHD YES SIR u are correct also. And it's best to walk around the truck and check for loose rocks that could fall. thanks for the reply
nice, my dad used to do that until the box came off the hoist one time. box came down like a rock and hoist split the cab in two. scary shit. he lived!!!
My dad used to drive a dump truck until he got a DUI in it
@KimonoSkunk
I'm with you. I build dump trucks for a living at Bonnell Industries. Dump body vibrators are worth it.

yeah it shakes the dirt loose from the bed.
Funny guy... left me laughing. .. Good vedio... Thanks, Gordon

yes it is, it's to get the metal in the bucket to shake to get all the dirt loose from it

lmao I love the ending "How to piss off the neighbors"
Slamming tailgates not only pisses off neighbors but it pisses off landfills as well but I do it anyway.
Wouldn't it be easier to use a hydraulic tailgate as we do in europe?
Nope, hydraulics fail. I haven't seen gravity miss a beat yet.
ha ha !! You must be either unemployed or 80 years old, to get pissed about a little construction noise during the part of the day that decent people go to work !!
"How to piss off the neighbors" lmfao nice one

a good loader operator that keeps it off the hoist
+Darryl Maynard The hoist is protected.

IF your a welder that's job security.
You should watch letsdig18's other video of him using the roller in early morning.(perfect time to piss off the neighbors) lol :)
Buahahaha!!! I got kicked out of a snow dump for slamming my gate!
Sure is a lot of gravel in that "dirt"
xD "how to piss of the neighbors"
At The Bulldozer
@commanderpeter12 do you happen to be structurally unemployed ?
how to piss off the guy who has to fix the rear door hindges nothing screws them up more
