This is a comparison video between War thunder vs rise of flight vs IL 2 Sturmovik vs DCS world.
In conclusion: We can separate the simulators in WWI airplanes, WWII airplanes and Modern Fighters, For the WWI airplanes Rise of Flight is the best, Also IL 2 Sturmovik with the Flying Circus but it is more expensive, for WWII IL 2 Sturmovik is the best, best price and dedicated to WWII, DCS also offers WWII airplanes that are very realistic but also more expensive. And Finally DCS World is the best on modern fighter jets and airplanes in general. War Thunder is fine to have a bit of fun but in my opinion it's not a simulator as the other I've mentioned.

There is also this old game Aces High which is my favorite game of all time. Nowadays it has a small community but once you get into the game its an absolute blast. Taking basis and doing missions with your team. Its more like a real MMO with planes.

I remember playing Janes F/A 18 sim, it was way too realistic (combat was realistic, while the graphics were not on par with what we have today). In the late 80's I used to play the Microprose F117 stealth fighter sim.

IL2 1946 with mod pack (Dark Blue World is mine). Best AI, multiple theatres, including the Pacific War! Graphics have aged well (with mod packs).
I would have said DSC is first, and on flight dynamics and faithfulness to the aircraft yes. But there just aren't enough WW2 planes, and the maps available really limit the kinds of missions you can recreate (no BoB era planes for example, and no maps for heavy bomber escort missions from East Anglia to Germany as well). So as a game is very limited for WW2. I still love jumping in and flying the aircraft but there are better options for the feel of involvement in real battles.
ALWAYS Dive with a nose fire if possible. Climbing results in a hotter burn.

That being said, I wouldn't consider war thunder a flight sim. Sure it's fun to play and has a "simulator mode" with some realism to it but still far from a simulator

You forgot to name the #2. Looked like Il-2 sturmovik Great Battles. It's predecessor Il-2 sturmovik 1946 is also comparable, but has many available mod's .

Why Cliffs of Dover? Everybody hates it in the reviews.
@@JAnx01 This is because of the bugs upon release in 2011... but since 2017 and the release of the "Blitz" edition, Cliffs of Dover is simply the best survey-type combat flight simulator. And DCS is the best study-type simulator.

@@JAnx01 When it comes to talk about pure simulation (physics, flight models, ballistics, damage models), the Dover series is with no shadow of a doubt superior to the Great Battles series. In the Great Battles series aircraft do not behave correctly when taxiing, in the Great Battles series German obuses do not explode after they've been shot, in the Great Battles series flight models do not stick as much to historical fact as they do in the Dover series, in the Great Battles series the damage models (not necessarily those that are visible, I'm not talking about the DVD for example) are completely humiliated by the amazingly complete and realistic damage models in the Dover series, in the Great Battles series start-up engine procedures are not as close to be fully modelled as close they are in the Dover series, in the Dover series the cockpits and the Channel map are absolutely superior in terms of quality graphics, etc., etc., etc. (the list is very long). But... in the Great Battles series you have VR compatibility (VR is in the works in the Dover series but it is not compatible at the moment, not yet), and also you'll find more available modules in the Great Battles series (4 modules in WWII, 1 module in WWI, 1 tank module... but in the Dover series you have only two available modules : the Blitz edition in the Channel map for the battle of France, the battle of Dunkirk and the battle of Britain, and "Desert Wings - Tobruk" in the Tobruk map for the battles during the Desert War in North Africa). Thus, Janx01, it is ok if you prefer the Great Battles series. Some players say they can't go back to a 2D screen because now they need a VR-compatible game... personally I don't agree with that, I prefer a more serious simulation even if I'm using a TrackIR.

If you're using keyboard for DCS. Good luck 😂😂. I personally couldn't fly my plane, I ended up crashing and got frustrated that I downloaded almost a 100Gb game just so I can delete it at the end. I'm sure though If I put enough time, I can be good but I only came to fly a plane, not to get an airplane license 💀

Buy trackir 5 and a good hotas and dcs is so fun.
Buy VR Oculus Rift or HC Vice and buy Hotas Warthog Flight Stick and you will enjoy real flying. Also install voice attack and you will feel like you are in the middle of action in the sky😉
I want to get DCS world, but every time I use Track ir in FSX and barely move my head to look at a gauge, the camers freaks out and moves around everywhere.... Makes me think it'll do it in DCS.
I play dcs with trackir 5 and its so immersive and no flicking around.

In DCS the coolest stuff is cold airplane start up. Especially when you are starting engines in F18. The sound is awesome!!! Like a real stuff. And not to mention landings on Aircraft Carrier
@@ivomajic my favorite part of the game Falcon 4 with the BMS mod is that the tutorial PDF spends 1/3 of it's time detailing the cold start procedures for the F/16, down to purely flavor based testing stages.
7:30 bruh aint no way you just fired a fox2 that late... good video though. DCS is the best overall when it comes to 1:1 realism for both modern and ww2 combat (well ww2 kinda goes more to IL2 tbh) and if you wanna do the f16 then just get BMS.

Jane WW2 fighters is best
My toughts...
War Thunder: Not a simulator and overall not a crazy game very slow start with unbalanced plane so if take the wrong tree and you advance in it you are just doomed, the game is insanely P2W and there are a lot of tryhard and it's not new player friendly i think, however the graphism and details are amazing there are a lot of gamemodes with sea land and air and it's quite fun sometimes. I'd only rate it 6.5/10
Rise of Flight: A pretty good game i think it's quite old with not crazy graphism and detail but intresting gameplay with WWI aircrafts it's decent but not crazy with not that much special caracteristics, note that physics and the quality of the plane are insanely good tho if it was a few year before i would have rated it a lot higher. I'd rate it 7/10
I feel like the 9.8 rating VS thr 9.5 Rating beetween DCS and your favorite Simulator which was a ww2 Simulation is a little Bias or at the least unfair because DCS includes Old and New Planes but is Centered more around the Modern Era vs the other one is centered more around the WW2 Era which means that in terms of realism there are alot more factors to be Judged on and although your favorite the WW2 Sim is realistic in Terms of Physics and Looks the Ammount of Hands on Controls are less although I would settle for they both are the best in there respective ERAs Id say DCS would take the lead or deserves more credit based on Better Graphics/Looks, WW2 and Modern Planes, More Hands on Experience , G Forces, scenery, The fact alone Fighter Pilots play this game and have no objections to any features being unrealistic, Air craft physical limitations such was Turning to Hard and Fast can resultin your Wings being litterly ripped off somthing the F-14 is notorious for. (Excuse me Calling it your favorite Simulator or the WW2 Sim I forgot the name and that was the closest thing I knew to it)

@@deccersmalone5488 Base game is IL-2: Battle of Stalingrad, with currently 3 major expansions attached to it. Can't miss it if you look on steam or the IL2 website. There's actually a sale going on until april 26th, so it's a good time to take a look if you're interested. Do the devs a favor and purchase from the official website if you decide to pull the trigger.

I'm one of those guys that couldn't care less what the game looks like, you want neaty-keen pictures of planes go fly a civilian flight sim. Replayability and addictiveness depend on modability, good AI, fun and realistic (somewhat, I like smoke and fire) damage modelling... which is why modern combat flight sims suck, that and the lack of SP content...
I will NEVER play DCS after what they did with their DCS WWII: Europe 1944 Kickstarter. They skrood their backers. They lied about their funding. They also lied about "Luthier," saying he wasted or ran off with their money, when he was actually still working for them. And, a LOT of what they promised would be provided as a FREE TO PLAY game is pay to play. Plus, they came out and admitted they use their WWII game as a cash cow to support their jet game, and that they only assign beginners to the WWII game's coding & design teams, promoting them to their "real" game when they get more experience. That way, the WWII game is always second best and the WWII players will always get less than promised. DCS is a HARD NOPE from me.

Apart from DCS that is not keyboard and flight stick only friendly leading to crash or shot down searching for right button or trying to pan around with the stupid view option available. There is no other semi-realistic to realistic present fighters flight combat sims available. Novalogic dead, Jane's FCS Fighters Anthology dead. iMagic , DID, Microprose, Spectrum Holobyte, Velocity's Jetfighter series, all dead. Put aside crap arcade Ace Combat equivalent junks.
With so many new fighters Su-57, Su-30M, Su-27SM3, Su-35, Su-34, Tu-160, Tu-26, Mig-31BM, Mig-35, J-15B/D, J-10C, J-16, J-20, J-35, F-15C/E with AN/APG-63CV3 AESA, F-16V, F/A-18E/F, F-22A, F-35A/B/C, EF-2000, Rafale, JAS-39, there's no game that I can fly them. We need games like fighters anthology where we can choose to fly US, Russia, China, UK, France, India, Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Saudi, Egypt, Turkey air forces in various war scenarios.
Good news: Microprose is coming back! Also, try downloading Falcon 4.0 with the BMS mod for a good alternative to DCS with campaigns and active multiplayer servers. It's all about the BMS mod though, don't try to play falcon 4.0 by itself because it will ask for a CD.

Gunship series today, I want to fly AH-64E, AH-1Z, blackhawk/seahawk, little bird, Mi-28/35/26, KA-50/52, WZ-9/10/19/18/20, HAC Tiger, SA80, etc being able to choose different factions. Also all aircrafts in 1 game with DLC where I can fly present fighters F-15E, F-16V, F/A-18E/F, EF-18G, F-22, F-35, Mig-35, Su-27SM3, Su-30M2, Su-35, Su-34, J-11B, J-10C, J-20B/C, J-16, J-15B, B-52G/H, B-1B, B-2 in fictional realistic war.

It has a dynamic multiplayer campaign with a lot of modern aircraft, but not as many as you just listed. Look up Falcon BMS on youtube and find out if you're interested.
I'm not sure I understood your first comment. Are you flying DCS with a mouse? You won't be able to fly or control your camera very well in any simulation without a joystick, and a head-tracker. I just bought both of those things, so I can show you some good options if you are interested.

For DCS, I'm flying with Logitech Wingman flight stick, keyboard + mouse. The game is not user friendly

DCS is a lot. What aircraft are you using? Some have embedded training missions, like the F-18. Otherwise your best resource is youtube for guides. I have the same joystick as you, but I just ordered a new one from VKB so I could have more functions on the stick and a better button layout. I"ll probably get a throttle as well once prices drop down. VKB said they had one in development, so I might wait for that.

You missed the best one. Microsoft Combat Flight simulator 2. The Pacific theater. Thats my number 1. Also Janes USAF. But those were back in the 90s...but still the best.
Spent many many hours on CFS 2 Pacific Theater. It has one thing all the IL2 sims lacked...atmosphere. USAF is great too, as is IAF.
From what I've seen DCS kicks IL2 ass in all areas hands down. And the other two should not have even been on the list. War Thunder is not even a simulator.

IL-2 Sturmovik is far from realistic. It's physics is poor at best, the "blackout" being the worst culprit, meaning unrealistic advantages for german aircraft. The flight models are all wrong, and the weapons models are hysterically unrealistic. The 30mm German cannon doesn't even jam like it always did in real life. I get the feeling historical accuracy and knowledge about WWII aircraft isn't exactly your strong point.
As for the maps, they have completely unrealsitic "ironed" flat runways on aerodromes. Have you ever taken off from a grass strip in real life?
Not only flight modes are wrong, but combat tactics too. It is not simulator, it is improved arcade game.
War Thunder is a cash grab. DCS requires a super computer to run.
I'll just keep playing Enemy Engaged, Total Air War, and Jane's F-15.
