9:18-Yes its mean to shoot 'Roos, but it's still legal..They tend to eat farmers crops and munch the grazing grass meant for cattle/sheep. Me, I think they're kinda cute/cool..as a guy who occasionally hunts myself, There's lots of other food there i'd eat first.And could it have been any more obviuos those two were digging on each other off-screen? Hogan became the face of Aussieland after this.. many tourist ads and a 3-year spokesman for the Subaru Outback car.

In the 1980's, Paul Hogan did commercials for the Australian Tourism Commission in an effort to get more people to visit and vacation in Australia. In the commercials, Paul Hogan famously said, "I'll slip an extra shrimp on the barbie for you". They used the word shrimp instead of prawn because they knew that word was more common in the USA.
Also, this film actually got an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay. The lead star Paul Hogan also co-wrote the script and got nominated as a result.
Paul Hogan used to have comedy show: "The Paul Hogan Show".
Hogan was also known outside of Australia for doing commercials for Foster's beer.
I noticed that there was some product placement for Foster's in this movie.
Yet I don't know a single Australian who drinks Foster's.
They were married in real life. I rode a ski lift in Aspen with them in the 90s. Could not have been nicer people!
For real? Wow, that must have been quite amazing. I heard that he's just as he is in the movie. Well mannered and a national treasure in Australia. I wasn't aware that they were married in real life though. From the movie, they are a great couple.
I loved when Paul Hogan spoke at the Oscars, I believe it was, he talked about people (Actors) being too polite and clapping their hands and saying it's alright if they lose to another actor in their category, Best Actor for example. He said something like. "I came here 10,000 miles for this, make a scene..."
That's a great, funny speech, beginning to end. Hogan is an Australian legend and renowned for being a truly decent guy too.

Yes, the limo driver is Reginald Veljohnson, the dad from Family Matters. He was also Al in Die Hard.
And he was the jail guard in the original Ghostbusters as well.

Crocodile Dundee was a worldwide hit and took America by surprise at the end of summer when it was released. It was kind of a throwback to the romantic comedies of the 30's and 40's. Great film, Great Reaction! :)

Was a kid and grew up watching the Crocodile Dundee movies. Used to think he was the coolest character. Didn't even realize there was a third movie in the series.
Best part of the movie. There walking and get approached by hoodlums, Sue says "He's got a knife"...Dundee replies "that's not a knife...that's a knife's." One of my favorite movies. Thanks again ladies. Keep them coming.

My dad who never went to the movies went to this. He loved it. Millions of fathers just like him filled the theatres. Hollywood didn’t make movies for middle aged guys. Nice job.

Dance Enthusiast Fact: David Gulpilil really choreographed the traditional Aboriginal dance shown in the movie. He's one of the most famous and acclaimed tribal dancers of all time in Australia.
Location Location Fact: The Sydney Harbour Bridge is shown in the beginning of the movie from the hotel window while Sue (Linda Kozlowski.) is on the phone to New York. Paul Hogan helped paint this bridge before he started his life as an actor and was said to have kept his co-workers laughing a good bit of the time.
The Rest Of The Story Fact: When Paul Hogan gave an interview for Crocodile Dundee In Los Angeles (2001), he put to rest the myth that there was a real Crocodile Dundee. He assured the interviewer that there was not, and that the idea for the character came from his own head. Hogan admitted that on a trip to New York he felt like a complete fish-out-of-water and the idea began to form in his head. Paul Hogan really did walk around saying "g'day" to New Yorkers during his first trip to Manhattan.
This was one of the first movies my wife and I saw together in the theater after we got married in 1986, so it always brings fond memories. We loved it and always enjoyed watching it on VHS and then DVD. It’s cute, it’s funny, and the two leads have great chemistry. It’s simple and even silly, but it’s loads of fun. It just works. Glad you enjoyed it!

In the swimming scene, it always amuses me how many people forget what he said just minutes before... "Mineral water, means no Crocs." That limo driver WAS Carl from Family Matters. This is the only role I've ever seen him in where he didn't play a cop lol.

I look at this as a feel good movie that brings a satisfying end to a positive situation between two fish out of water. It reminds me of some of those Christmas movies like the 1951 Scrooge with Alistair Sim or the 1947 Miracle on 34th street.

I love the way Neville talks. I actually had kind of a crush on him. Crocks are hunted like alligators are in Florida and Louisiana. You get tags for the gators and you can only hunt that many and the hunting season is only a month.
This classic romantic comedy was a huge hit in 1986 and is still as funny as ever. I saw this in the theater when it came out, and the whole theater burst into cheers and applause at the ending, probably the greatest final scene ever in a romantic comedy.
Paul Hogan became known in the U.S. for a very popular series of commercials he did for the Australia Tourism Board. He presented the same sort of character, a super-friendly regular guy who invited you to visit him in Australia. He capitalized on that popularity to make this movie. He and his co-star actually got married after the movie was made.
He was (and is) a regular guy. He was a painter on the Sydney Harbour Bridge originally. He joked about appearing on a talent show where the judges were often quite nasty to contestants. He decided to go on the show and ridicule the judges instead. He appeared as a "tap-dancing knife-thrower". His act was a classic. He made fun of the judges, did a little shuffle dance, threw a bunch of knives on the floor, and walked off. It was so funny and popular, he was invited back and the rest is history. He became a regular on a current affairs program, giving an outbacker take on issues. He even had his own TV show for a while in the 70s and 80s (The Paul Hogan Show) which lasted for over 10 years and was very popular in the UK. In all of this, he displayed the "quintessential Aussie larrikin", which he also subsequently took into his movies.

Paul Hogan, or 'Hoges', as he is affectionately known in Australia, a former Sydney Harbor Bridge painter and rigger, had been a TV sketch-and-standup national institution with his 'laddish' brand of humour for almost two decades and in his mid-forties when this deliberate attempt to exploit the foreign market with an 'authentic bush hero' stereotype was created, and the result emerged as the second-highest-grossing movie of that year, after 'Top Gun'. Hogan's laconic, earthy charm and rugged 'lived-in' good looks won over a wide demographic both domestically and abroad. In his own words: 'It's like the image the Americans have of us, so why not give them one?' Love wins out in the end both for the lead characters and the players (Hogan went on to marry Linda Kozlowski in real life, though they have now been divorced for some time).

I do find it a bit strange how many reactors to that scene act like she's incredibly stupid. Everyone in these areas relies on the water to survive so they'll need to get it when they can. And while we see all kinds of shows today with crocs and other dangerous animals, that wasn't very common at all back then. Most city people would have known very little about the dangers. The scene just shows how a city person shouldn't become arrogant and look down on the locals who have the knowledge. It's a way for her to gain more respect for him.
Saltwater Crocs don't live in Freshwater Billabongs like that.
Paul Hogan didn’t expect the movie to be so big. He thought he was just making a nice little comedy for the Australia. He got the idea when he visited NYC and felt like an outsider and people thought he was Scottish. The quotes around Crocodile was added for the American release. Apparently Americans would’ve thought the lead was an actual crocodile. A couple Paul Hogan movies that are great to watch is “Almost an Angel” and “Lightning Jack”. “Lightning Jack” also has Cuba Gooding Jr and Beverly D’Angelo in it. “Almost an Angel” has Linda Kozlowski and Elias Koteas in it. He also starred in the movie “Flipper” 11:51 that gator is still alive in a wildlife park in Australia living the bachelor life. Dundee hugging her like he did was the right thing to do cause when someone has a shock like that there’s a sudden drop in blood flow and possible hypothermia so by hugging her he was helping to restore her normal blood flow. 18:43 Paul Hogan’s first time in New York he really did go around town saying G’day to everyone. 21:13 she even asked him if he liked her flirting with him. 27:59 one of the most quoted and misquoted lines from a movie. A lot of people say “now this is a knife” instead of “That’s a knife”. An Australian brewery even messed up on an ipa they duo they released. One had a small knife on the can and the other a large can. One movie to also watch after “Crocodile Dundee in LA” is “The Very Excellent Mr Dundee”. Paul Hogan plays himself dealing with the character Crocodile Dundee in real life.

First movie I put on the screen as the theater projectionist in my town. The most terrible part of the job was I had to watch the entire movie by myself to make sure it was a good print ! (Used to show the movies in my high school classrooms.)

From back in the day when newspapers mattered. In 1980, the Sunday paper was 2 inches thick, today, about a quarter inch.
You know, I was in my mid teens/ mid twenties through the 80s...I keep hearing people talk about how she was sleeping with two guys through the movie, lol.. it really was like that. Unless you were actually engaged or married... you pretty much slept with anyone..I mean, you could be bf/gf and be committed.. like going steady... and not be sleeping around... but if you were just dating someone, it was acceptable to date and sleep with others.. it was just different i guess..I forgot how different it really was back then. Crazy. ❤

This is the first time I recognized "Simone" is the young Lady (my first crush) from the the film, Dragonslayer. I just double checked and it's true: Caitlin Clarke. Interesting how the young mind is informed, because I have always swooned over Women that have a more natural freeness to them... shortish ragged hair from simply spending most of their time outdoors in the wind. 😍❤❤

Paul Hogan cowrote this film and the sequel. He's an accomplished writer, producer, actor, and stand up comedian.
Yeah yeah I first started in the theaters and then a couple of times on TV. It's five out of five with me because of the cuteness aspect and the moments of action that are there but it's not over the top. It does have this two fishes out of water aspects but look at it this way when he is out of his water he handles himself much better than she does even though he does it in his own manner, the moral being that the basic open honest life stance when people live in harmony and concentrate on the things that really matter, the simpler way, seems a better way. Michael J.'s personality with awkward his awkward social skills win him more friends than enemies and she he falls into trouble, he still handles himself than the reporter or her fiancé would. On the other hand neither of the two would survive 3 days in the outback and it's pretty obvious how many friends the guy would make in Walkabout Creek. Fun, warm, exciting enough and shot on location - it's got all I want from a movie.

Crocodile Dundee is indeed not a masterpiece, but to this day, it remains one of my favorite feel-good films of the 80's. The writing and directing are uneven, but something isn't: Paul Hogan's charisma. Plus, that ending is soooo fucking sweet.

Force Of Light Entertainment There's one movie I want to recommend not only because it's good but because as far as I know no one's reacted to it and I think it should be trending which is "Arthur" (1981).

And given that aboriginal culture and language originally _developed_ in Australia, I suspect no aboriginal language has a word for "snow," so I imagine the change of seasons looks very different, there.
Hogues is a movie legend and funny as. The Aboriginal actor was David Gulpilli, funniest black fella you would ever want to meet and a really nice tribal man. After the success of the Dundee movies he returned to his tribal community where he recently peacefully died. The Pitintininjara people live in the Warbatton Ranges in central Western Australia and survive in their 60,000 year old ancient homeland to this day. You are both beautiful ladies, you would find the land down under very much to your liking.

I love these movies, it's a great trilogy. The second is probably the best, but the third is a great ending.
Paul Hogan and Linda Koslowski met o. This movie and ended up getting married. I believe they were married for 25 years or so.
This was the first REALLY big hit we had at the movie theater I worked at when I was in High School. It was super popular for months.
You don't want to get into a sleeping bag, because snakes seek out warm spots and it is warm in your sleeping bag... It is always more difficult to get a snake out of a sleeping bag than a blanket.
P.s. We like people to think that it's dangerous but it isn't really.

I did not grow up with this movie, but did see Dundee in the movie Flipper.
I was told by my cousin, who worked on a farm down there, that there as many wallabies down there as there is gophers up here. So you don't need a license to shoot them. You can hunt all year round for them. Although that was quite a few years ago, things could've changed since.
Weren't they originally an invasive species? So they don't have any real nature predators other than the occasional crock taking one down.
Yeah, their populations & breeding rate make them a serious risk to plant life.

In Australia kangaroos are like their equivalent to deer in America. They have hunting seasons for them.
