I think a Trahan-Pham baby is something that internet isn’t ready for, but we’d all love to see. And yes, I’m a guy watching Jess’ video because she and Gabe are amazing.
from watching you a few years ago to now I love how much more comfortable and confident you are in front of the camera! It makes it feel like a big sister chat! hope everything goes smoothly this birth!!
26 year old mom of 3 here 👋 my biggest tip for doing feeding shifts is to either have hubby take baby for first shift of the night, immediately following a feed (usually around 8-9pm) and go to bed early for a couple/few hours, he can stay up with baby until 10/11 and then bring baby to you. Alternately, if you prefer to sleep in he can take baby immediately after a feed early in the morning, around 5/6 and you can sleep in a couple more hours! This makes it so you get a few good quality hours of sleep every night but you don’t have to pump! And he gets to sleep through the night while you handle feeds. That’s what has worked for us! Best of luck 🫶❤
This is exactly what my husband does for my exclusively BF baby and it works great for us!! ❤ i also put a sound machine on in case she cries so i don’t startle awake
No baby here but I am curious to understand better, in the late night shift or early morning baby is not sleeping at all after the feed? Or is it helpful that the dad does it because the baby care like changing/ rocking can be long and make you feel you have no rest between feeds?
This video is so helpful! I want to make sure I'm prepared for baby but also I'm a minimalist so I don't want tons of baby clutter. Theses are great tips!
The best thing I did my third trimester was prep muffins, pancakes, and bfast sandwiches to keep in the freezer. I was so sad when they ran out 😂 Praying for your delivery and postpartum ❤
A tip for shifts- you have the right idea for baby #2! We have found it works really well for me to get up with the babies to breastfeed and let my husband sleep.. because him being well rested makes him so helpful during the day. I got to nap while baby napped, he would make me food, do things around the house, and then help with our older boy when we had baby #2. Then he would do some skin to skin for bonding. I know many people feel like the night time shifts should be shared, but this worked out really well for us!
Completely agree! And if there are couples who share night time duty and it works, that's great, but at most I'll ask my husband to do a middle of the night diaper change. He's still getting plenty of uninterrupted hours, especially since we go to bed earlier now.
Same for us! The first few weeks he would get up to help me since I was still figuring stuff out and was healing from a tear and all that, but once I got the hang of it he would sleep through the night. Then in the morning he would take her after I fed her for a few hours so I could sleep, come back for me to feed her then take her again. So we both got a good amount of rest!
My lactation consultant gave me a tip to cut out little squares of wax paper and to put them on after applying the nipple cream. This helped to keep the cream on you instead of just absorbing in your bra. This helped so much! Good luck with everything. You got this!
The owlet raised my anxiety even more because of false alarms when the sock would shift in their sleep. But we also had a nicu baby so the false alarms were extra triggering for me. Totally support people who enjoyed it and want to use it, just personally didn’t have a good experience with it.
I’ve had one false alarm when my son’s cold feet were raised but I’ve also had two alarms that were real and we were alerted to my son unresponsive. I understand the raise in anxiety, my son being a NICU baby too but I wouldn’t have this any other way
@@michellecassidy6908 totally get that! I ended up donating mine to another nicu mom who I know got lots of use out of it. It just wasn’t helpful for me!
This is so very helpful especially for first time moms. Knowing what’s essential to buy and what’s not. I’ve been told by many experience moms that baby actually really need very little items and not much. This also helps keeps things very simple and not be overwhelmed by it!
Thank you for posting, Jess!!! 22 weeks tomorrow with my first, and am starting to research alllll the things, so it’s nice to have your perspective! 🤍✨
I’m currently 40 weeks and 4 days pregnant with my first baby! Watching this gave me some reassurance on certain things ❤️ Praying for a healthy delivery 🙏
Awww *-* You'll have your baby in your arms in NO TIME!! my baby was born at 41+4 and I was DESPERATE for her to come already, so just hang in there and enjoy some crafts or hobbys you like before they arrive! :) You've got this, mama!!💪
In my opinion, shifts don’t work unless your husband does not stay in the room. Mine took first shift and gave baby breastmilk bottles of milk that I had pumped during the day and usually one bottle of formula. I would go to sleep around 8-9 and pump right before going to sleep and then he would stay in the living room with the baby. Then he would roll her in around 1-2am and I would get up with her the rest of the night. He is a light sleeper so he went and slept in the other room so he could get uninterrupted sleep as well. It worked seamlessly for us. My baby did not have a good latch so I would pump after feeding her a bottle when she woke up the first time. I knew I did not want to have to pump through the night so I wouldn’t pump unless I woke up and needed to before she came in but I don’t think it even happened. I also pumped first thing in the morning. But if you breastfeed then you wouldn’t have to worry about the pumping and it would be even easier!
Love love love a wrap to baby wear for the first 6ish months!!! Once you figure it out, it’s super easy to put on. Love love the ergobaby 360 baby carrier. SO easy to figure out. Just clips!
Yes, yes yes to baby wearing! I didn’t start wearing my baby till she was about a month old and I wish I had done it sooner. Like you said, I also struggled in the beginning with trying to get things done around the house and Caring For baby when her naps were so short, it wasn’t until I started wearing her, that I started to get more peace of mind and want so overwhelmed with trying to get chores done. It can be intimidating at first. I just watched a lot of videos and tried it around the house. I started out with the wrap which is great but can be a little annoying having to tie it and making sure it’s not too tight or too loose I tried the ring sling and I found those were so much easier to use in public. You can Quickly put them on and adjust while baby is in. Now that I’m pregnant with baby number two, I got a another carrier that allows me to carry my baby on the back now that the bumps in the way . My first will only be 13 months when I have my baby in August, so I’m sure I’ll be baby wearing a lot.
I definitely recommend the owlet.. when pregnant I didn’t really think about it and thought it was unnecessary but our little girl ended up being born premature so I asked around and the NICU nurses told us they are quite accurate.. once we did finally get to bring baby girl home it gave me such peace of mind, and honestly the ability to sleep well between feeds knowing that if something sinister were to occur, we would be notified immediately.. used for 10months and only alarmed once when she had RSV which we ended up needing hospital for anyway..
LOVE the Owlet it quickly tracks their sleeping pattern and gives an accurate prediction of when they’ll wake up. You can set it to alert you for anything and there’s a specific alarm sound built in that goes off in case their heart rate or temperature drops/spikes (its something we faced and I promise you it is a sound that’ll wake you up and send you on your feet) It’s incredibly accurate at tracking their movements and sleep activity and we didn’t have a baby monitor so this gave us such a peace of mind. The alarms goes off in your phone and also where you charge the sock which also plays lullabies if it either senses that baby is coming out of REM sleep or the sock isn’t placed properly. I appreciated the way it’d send messages such as “Your baby may be uncomfortable” or “Your baby may be too warm” “Your baby is awake! Time to say hello😊!” It also gives cute little “baby is 3 months today🎉 they may start to….”. Highly recommend it to everyone.
Jess, idk if you’ve looked into Silverettes for nipple pain while breastfeeding, but after breastfeeding/pumping for a year, I can say these were 1,000% worth it and made a world of difference! I started using them day 2 in the hospital, and they healed my nipples so much faster than nipple cream. It was also nice to have a barrier to protect my nipples, since it was painful when anything rubbed against them. I wore them for an entire year, and I would recommend them to anyone!
Hi, Jess! I really enjoyed your video. I’m a college student, I saw it upload earlier in the week when I was studying for finals. I saved it to watch for when I finished all of my classes and was moved out and back home. Thanks for helping me relax and do some self care after a busy semester❤ I appreciate what you have to share!
Absolutely love the owlet! It gives me such a peace of mind when my baby makes a weird noise. You get live HR and O2 levels. It is super easy to use and the baby doesn't mind it. You don't have to worry about waking the baby to check on breathing. I have also found it useful now that the baby is in the nursery, because an alarm will go off if the baby is moving too much. I honestly don't know how I would sleep without it.
We’ve been doing baby wearing nonstop for almost a year now! I’ve tried over a dozen carriers. My favorites: - Newborn: Solly wrap (because you can tuck baby’s head in and still use both hands) - When baby has more head control: Boppy comfort chic and ergo baby embrace - When my baby outgrew the boppy and ergo baby embrace: Wild bird aerial (good for up to 45lbs) Carriers are awesome for contact naps because baby can be napping on you while you get house work done!
I use the mobi wrap with my little one. She is 6 weeks old and I have been baby wearing since the first week. Putting her in the wrap infront of a mirror is what really helped me because I could see where to put her legs etc. Also, get Gabe to help you the first few times if you are nervous about manouvering the baby into the wrap. My husband helped me the first 4 times until I was confident enough to do it myself. I have just ordered the ergobaby omni 360, so excited to try that. Don't be intimidated by baby wearing! It really is so helpful and I love her being so close to me. You look amazing btw!! ❤
Late for this so i doubt youll see this, but in case you do... just remember that this baby might not like the movement of the mamaroo but would love a traditional swing or something else. Same thing with the different types of slings or baby wear systems, some the baby just doesn't jive with but then loves another type. IT'S SOMETIMES TRIAL AND ERROR and that's PERFECTLY NORMAL and FINE! Just don't give up on wanting to have a "swing seat" or "baby wearing" or whatever the thing is just bc one or even a few of the products don't fit for either YOU or BABY! Such an informative chat and full of great ideas and products and just good conversations! Thanks for sharing!
this plan looks sooo good thus far, jess girl! i am so excited for you and your family on this next step of your journey. love you and be safe. you're in my prayers.
Artipoppe baby carrier is THE best carrier. My baby melts into it and it’s the easiest and quickest baby carrier to put on! The fabric is amazing quality hence the price, but it’s machine washable and they have the cutest styles!
the owelette sock is an absolute game changer !! it provides peace of mind when baby is sleeping & will alert you if baby’s oxygen level or heart rate is out of normal range ! it’s absolutely incredible. definitely worth the money!
Hey Jess !♥️ I just wanted to say that you don’t have to be so hard on yourself ! You learnt with your baby while growing, you really did so well! It’s honestly so inspiring, especially because you were able to acknowledge the small things to fix for baby number 2. Taking care of a baby is a bit scary especially with all the unknown but the fact that she is who is she is, is because of all your love and support and attention to the finer details ! You are such an amazing mom, you really inspire me and I can’t wait to be a mom because of you! ♥️
The owlet is AMAZING!!! Definitely gives you peace of mind. My first baby was stillborn so when I had my son 5 years after I was so paranoid something would happen to him like SIDS and a friend of mine gifted me the owlet and it saved my sanity ❤
Currently 10 weeks pregnant, so overwhelmed by all the different baby items and NOT wanting to do so much research if I can help it lol. So THANK YOU!!!
Highly recommend the ergo embrace baby carrier!! It’s soft and so comfy like the solly wrap type carriers but 100% easier to put on/adjust. It’s machine washable and it folds up small!!
Baby wearing is a game changer!! We used the Boba wrap a lot when our babe was 0-5 months (we still sometimes use it). We splurged and got the Wildbird Aerial carrier-absolutely amazing! We had an Ergobaby one and it was super confusing. The Wildbird is comfortable and so easy to use. I can put it on by myself front and back wearing, it’s amazing. I’ve heard good things about the Artipoppe too!
Visitor boundries! Yes 100% My partner and I were encouraged to set boundries during our prenatal classes. Midwife suggested to be vague with my due date e.g. "bub is due end of October/beginning of November". The week our son arrived we messaged friends & extended fam about his arrival and said that we would be in touch for visits when we are all settled in 😊 We took our time and it was the best thing we did for ourselves. Zero pressure, less stress. Also, a big food prep for the freezer was one of the best things I did. Healthy brekky burritos, brekky bagels for sandwich press, pre prepared fruit with mix-ins for smoothie bags. I also cooked enormous amounts of stir-fries, veg packed bolognese, curries. Sandwich bagged and flattened M-L portions. All you need to do is cook rice, pasta or mash. I felt like I was cheating death, it made meal times so easy for hubby and I. Will do it again next time around 😊
Definitely recommend the owlet sock! I used it for my son when he was a baby and now using it for my three month old daughter. I have bad anxiety when it comes to my babies sleeping, especially being hard of hearing, I can’t hear anything at night when I take my hearing aids out. My husband is basically my ears lol but wanted to make sure it would alert us for anything. I used it until my son was over a year old and plan to do the same for my daughter.
Baby Beluga wraps are super soft and SO Easy to use! I also find they provide good back support! Lots of colours and patterns to choose from as well! 🤍
The Ariel buckle baby carrier from wild bird is a godsend! You can wear them in it from newborn until they’re nearly 1! It’s adjustable and super easy. I will say, I used the moby wrap for the first few weeks just because they’re SO little. I loved that one too! Just took practice
@@JessConte i agree 100% it’s not easy! I practiced a lot before my son was even born because I was so nervous about it 😅 Once you get it, it’ll be like second nature!
As a soon to be mom of two, I love my Ergobaby Embrace. It is so soft, folds up small to fit in a diaper bag, and has stretch so you can "bounce" the baby while you walk. After trying a few different carriers, this was a favourite! It is also easy for me to get on and off on my own, which was a big plus. I hated the bigger wraps, I could never figure them out on my own.
I also watched Bridget Teyler during my pregnacy and gave birth to my first unmedicated in June 2023. Like you, i also had a quick and smooth labor so I'd definitely go unmedicated again for my next. Highly recommend Bridget to anyone. Wishing you a healthy and smooth delivery 💕
I have the ergobaby breeze babycarrier. It is very easy and has 3 settings from newborn to bigger baby. My baby has been happy in that carrier from birth and still is at 9 months! It is also very easy to use alone without help. Good luck!
For baby wearing, I really liked Baby Bjorn for newborn/early baby days and then ErgoBaby 360 when they were a little older. Baby wraps weren’t for me, I didn’t feel confident in wrapping them and worried too much about suffocation (though others swear by them). I also switched from the Medela pump to the Spectra for baby no. 2 and honestly.. life changing. It is SUCH an excellent pump, I felt like for me it got so much more milk out and it did it a lot quicker. Also you can get breast pads to tuck into your bra while breadfeeding… helps keeping the nipple cream on and will catch any leakage so it doesn’t get all over your clothes. Lansinoh (not sure if available in the US but it’s everywhere in Australia) saved my life breastfeeding. Bonus is you use it as lip balm if your lips dry out too lol.
Tik tok was the best for showing how to baby wear! I had a baby bjorn carrier I loved, the boba and moby wrap were both great and so comfy, and then an ergobaby one which wasn’t as comfy or supportive as the baby bjorn! I really want the artipoppe carrier for my next baby because we baby wore ALL THE TIME!
In regards to baby wear buy the moby wrap! It’s the best thing ever, saved me with my baby I could get soooo much done and she would contact nap in it while I washed dishes or whatever I needed to get done. They show you different techniques on TH-cam for different ages and she loved it at every age 🥰
For diaper bag I highly recommend the Doona essentials bag. It’s small, attaches straight to the doona and fits what you need. I felt the same way the second time around about not wanting a diaper bag so this one has been absolutely perfect!
Jess, I have used the owlet and still currently have it actually. I really liked it. It gave me some ease after losing my first son and having my second son come into this world. I was so nervous that he was going to stop breathing in the middle of the night or even during the day. I do recommend it!
My sister gave me a vtech baby monitor that has two cameras. It doesn't need wifi. I love it! I just had my third in March so I clip one camera onto his crib and the second one in the hallway between my older kids' rooms. If I need to go outside when the kids are napping, I can see and hear the baby and hear the 2 and 4 year olds if they wake up. With two kids you could just put one camera in each room and then set the parent monitor to switch between the two every five seconds. I never used the owlette but a friend of mine swears by it. She lost a daughter to SIDS a few years ago and any babies she had after her, she used the owlette for and it helps her to not be as anxious. So really whatever makes you feel more comfortable. I am happy to see and hear my baby, my friend wants to know the vital signs but either option would be good. I had the medella swing pump for my first two also and loved it. I lost it for my third and bought a similar one but I actually haven't used it this time around. But it is an excellent pump.
16 weeks today and thank you for your sweet gentle advice! There is so much information out there but I enjoy hearing all the different advice and just figuring out what might work for my baby when he comes.
The ember mug that you showed is 100% worth it!! It helps so much during postpartum because I had a tendency to forget my coffee or tea. It has different Temps too so you don't burn it 😊 as for wraps, the Mushie wrap was my favorite!! Definitely reccomend, it's sturdy and easy to use. I still use it with my 15mo!
Yes to babywear! My baby was a Velcro baby and I had to baby wear to allow for contact naps :) I found in the newborn stage the wrap ones are the best, I got the konny flex which was very easy to use!
So exciting!! I remember when I was planning everything for my daughter, who's just 2 months younger than yours, and seeing you go though this again is reminding me of that time! :) I can 100% recommend a carrier: Boba bliss. Suuuuuper easy to use, and COMFORTABLE!! it's like a hybrid carrier, easy to put on and off like the more sturdy ones, but super comfy like the elastic cloth ones. Everyone I know that's used it has loved it and recommends it!
The boppy carrier is by far my favorite!!! It’s so easy to use and it’s like a wrap! So baby loves it too! I recommend the evenflo dual ride shyft! It’s like the doona but better in my opinion! There’s more room to grow and has this sensor on it for the heat!
So exciting for you! I loooooved my Solly Baby Wrap. SOOO soft and once I got the hang of it, I wore it ALL the time. Dishes, church, walks, everything. It was my absolute favourite.
I love my solly wrap so much, i got a second so i still have one when the other needs washed haha. It does take a little practice learning to put it on, but honestly after a few times i was a pro! It is so cozy for my little one (3 months now 🥺) and comfy for me. I put it on before i leave the house so i can just stick her in to walk around haha. Also i highly recommend taking a look at the safe sleep seven, and even the book that it originates from, Sweet Sleep, even though it sounds like you have a plan for sleep! Especially in those first weeks where baby just wants to be in your arms and that can mean less sleep for you, Knowing how to make your bed safe to share with baby can mean a lot less sleep deprivation for everyone. I was totally against cosleeping until about day 5 of barely sleeping because she didn't want to be put down 😂😭 And that book also talks a lot about breastfeeding and hormones and research, it's great! It's on Spotify premium for audiobook 😄
As a mom of two young kids, I also had two years apart this was such a good video!! I agree with everything you said Jess!!! Good luck to you and I can’t wait for you to enjoy the special moments that come with a second child being born ❤
We have the ergo baby carrier and I LOVE it. It is a little pricey but they have deals. My son is almost 18 months and I still use it sometimes. You can sidewear, backwear, and frontwear (forward-facing and front-facing). I found it had plenty of padding so it was super comfortable. It has a hood on it to protect against the sun or if he was asleep to keep the sun out of his eyes. It also has a carrier pack on it for things like a wipe and diaper or anything else you can fit in there. :) It also has different widths for legs depending on age so it doesn't hurt their hip or joints.
You are so positive and so amazing, and such Kind hearted person! ❤️ you are doing so amazing as a mommy of 2 already 😇😊 I, myself can't believe how blessed you are with your beautiful family life your are growing - you give me so much inspiration and grace ❤️ thank you for always being there!
Baby wear recommendations from a mama of 4 ❤ I loved the Solly wrap for the newborn days for when you need to get things done around the house. It'll take a few times to get used to the the long fabric and ties, but I really love how cozy and comfortable it was for baby and I. We loved the baby bjorn carrier for when we are out and about. Super easy and fast to put on, only 4 clips 🥳 When you had your first babe, I had my 4th around the same time. So sweet to see you go through it again with baby #2. Congrats and so happy for you guys ❤
I just gave birth to my second baby in November! I recommend preping bin activities, individual crafts, or even just a little basket for your toddler to use for when you are breastfeeding is so nice because it takes their mind away from the fact that you can't really help then with anything in that moment.
We also did the same thing regarding nighttime. Now our third baby is one month old and it definitely works best to let Dad sleep through the night so he can watch the older kids/toddlers during the day. 👍🏻
The boba wrap was my go to from newborn until my girl was too big for it. There are some really great video tutorials on TH-cam you can watch to learn how to wrap them. I was able to do housework, clean bottles, grocery shop etc all while baby wearing. It was so good for my independence too.
Had my 3rd baby almost 8 months ago… two products I’ve found that were IMMENSELY helpful with nipple pain/damage/recovery are: 1. Medi-honey 2. Silverette’s (off brand “silver cups” are the same thing). These made breastfeeding for the 3rd time around go so much more smoothly!!
Highly recommend the konny baby carrier - didn’t have it with my first but it was a game changer for baby 2/3… it goes on like a tshirt so is quick and simple to throw on and grows with them so always feels secure even from teeny tiny.
I loveddd the boppy comfy fit for the first few months bc it’s similar to a wrap carrier but so much easier to use and not intimidating at all haha. And then I love the Tula for a more structured carrier when they’re older and it sooo comfortable and supportive of your back! And once again, so easy to use!
The marsupi carrier with velcro fastener ist for sure the best and easiest carrier. I tried all the others and also felt overwhelmed. I am so exited for you guys and wish you all the best ❤️
I have a 2 week old and we LOVE the BabyBjorn Mini mesh carrier! I started with 10 mins a day once he passed the 7lb mark and now he is totally fine being in it.
I have a premie and got ourselves the owlet and OMG, it was the BEST purchase we made. I think bc we were so used to having him monitored 24/7 in the hospital, we were very self conscious when we got home but we LOVE IT!! it’s soooo worth it! You will also be able to monitor baby’s sleep without an extra app
I used that baby app to track everything and something that is SUPER nice about it is that you have your account and you can share that with your partner and they can have the same information on their app on their phone as well. So whoever updates it, it will also update on the other's phone as well. If that makes sense!
I’m a midwife student and there is one thing I could recommend for you to use while breast feeding is : silver nipple hats/shield. They heal your nipples naturally by having remaining milk in the nipple shield. 🫶🏼 I pray for a healthy baby and a good birth experience 🫶🏼
Owlet is amazing!!! Also I have all three of the Chekoh carriers! Used the wrap so so much and now use the clip carrier. My son ONLY naps on me in the carrier (we have tried everything) anyway it’s cute but the carriers are life changing and it’s also so cute!
Be mindful of leaving baby in mamaroo or swing with Kaia around. She would never hurt the new baby on purpose but they don’t understand and will try to pick up baby and drop them. I’m an ER nurse and I can’t tell you how often this happens. Baby wear: Tula. Good for back pains. But prints. So easy
I struggled with finding a baby carrier as well! Mostly in finding one my baby liked. The one I ended up liking the most was the Ergobaby Embrace carrier. It was comfy for both of us and not too difficult to figure out!
I had my first a month after you had Makaiah and I feel the exact same with everything you pointed out for the second baby. You realise that buying all of the things recommended by everyone can actually be overwhelming - having to figure out how to use everything and store it and clean it! I’d like to go as minimal and simple as possible for my second because it’s less work! Regarding carriers, I personally like the wrap carrier for a tiny baby. Once my girl got to around 8 months, it wasn’t as comfortable any more and I felt the same way as you with the big bulky carriers, they’re pretty uncomfortable especially for at home. I didn’t end up continuing with baby wearing so don’t have any recommendations unfortunately.
I love our owlet! Still using it at 1. Also handy for tracking sleeping without having to log it in a separate app. I feel like it’s pretty good at being able to tell the difference between an emergency and the baby just kicking it off. In 1 year I’ve had two false alarms.
I can't believe you didn't babywear the first time! I don't know how I wouldn't lived without it. I DEFINITELY recommend seeing a good babywearing consultant - not sure pricing in the US but in australia it costs around $100 to have one come out and they bring lots of different ones for you to try and make sure you're confident wearing it safely and comfortably. They are amazing and SO worth the money in my opinion!
It’s the best! If you’re visiting Brisbane before baby arrives or in the early months at all I can definitely recommend someone here (Antje from ‘the baby wearing practice’) or else I’m sure you could find a recommendation in Nashville! Good luck!!
Hey Jess! I’m due with my second baby girl this July! Awesome video! You should definitely have a little look into the Thompson breastfeeding method if you haven’t already. It’s a little course and there is SO much information in there that just isn’t taught by the medical system but it makes SO much sense!! Thousands of mums have SWORN by this, and say it diminishes nipple trauma so much and makes breastfeeding that much easier! My breastfeeding journey didn’t last super long with my first unfortunately so I’m soo looking forward to trying this method and praying that breastfeeding will work this time! All the best for you guys and your birth!!💗
Baby wearing is my favorite thing, and the contact is amazing for baby's development! Highly recommend the Baby Bjorn Mini Carrier for the first few months (sooo simple, ergonomic, and lightweight) and then the Baby Bjorn Harmony Carrier until they're older (ergonomic, lightweight, and adaptable as they grow). Both have been amazing for our family ❤
Jess, we will watch and enjoy whatever you put up! LOVED the longer video today! I’m 24 and single, NOWHERE NEAR having kids and I watched the whole thing. Been following you since you and Gabe got married and this just feels like a FaceTime ☺️🤍
Hey out there in the States. Thank you a lot for all the positive vibes from you and your family. I am praying for you two and your children, and all the things you'll need during birth!
For baby carriers I loveeeee my wild bird ring sling. I still use it and my daughter is 16 months!! So easy to put on by myself and I can do it quickly so she didn’t fuss in the beginning.
For a carrier I used a moby wrap! My girl slept in it every morning when we were out and about. Super comfy for bub and secure. I find it easy to put on. Did TH-cam tutorial first few tries but even now, I still use it. Use baby Bjorn for bub facing outward to watch on walks or at shops, but nap times when not home, still use moby wrap - shes 11months now!
Currently 36 weeks pregnant and I’m praying I have a fast safe delivery 💞 A lot of people are shocked I want a natural birth with no epidural too, but me and my husband have confidence! 🙏🏼
I feel you! I was so intimidated by baby carriers! Specially when my husband went back to work and I was at home all alone! I found a really nice one, comfy, easy to use and stylish! It’a called Wildbird!
Baby wearing with your second is usually a lot more neccesary 😅 the Ergobaby Embrace was my favorite easy to use, minimal option for newborns. I went through a ton of carriers due to back problems and It was the most comfortable and most affordable :) also pretty compact which I loved! The Lillebaby is the most comfortable carrier I’ve ever used but it’s more bulky
Am I giving birth anytime soon? Nope! Am I going to watch this entire thing? Yes 😁
😂
Same!! 😂😂
I think a Trahan-Pham baby is something that internet isn’t ready for, but we’d all love to see.
And yes, I’m a guy watching Jess’ video because she and Gabe are amazing.
Same 😂
relatable.
your demeanour is SO calming. i love it
from watching you a few years ago to now I love how much more comfortable and confident you are in front of the camera! It makes it feel like a big sister chat! hope everything goes smoothly this birth!!
awww I appreciate that!!! 🥲
Best of luck 🫶❤
oh I like this!!! thank you!!
This is exactly what my husband does for my exclusively BF baby and it works great for us!! ❤ i also put a sound machine on in case she cries so i don’t startle awake
This is so helpful thank you!!
No baby here but I am curious to understand better, in the late night shift or early morning baby is not sleeping at all after the feed? Or is it helpful that the dad does it because the baby care like changing/ rocking can be long and make you feel you have no rest between feeds?
Expecting my first baby and this is such a good idea that I will consider! Thank you for the tip!
This video is so helpful! I want to make sure I'm prepared for baby but also I'm a minimalist so I don't want tons of baby clutter. Theses are great tips!
The best thing I did my third trimester was prep muffins, pancakes, and bfast sandwiches to keep in the freezer. I was so sad when they ran out 😂
Praying for your delivery and postpartum ❤
def what I plan to do!!!!
that’s so smart because i feel like everyone preps/people bring you dinners but i found breakfast things sO much more helpful!
I know many people feel like the night time shifts should be shared, but this worked out really well for us!
really glad to hear that!! 💛
💯
GREAT TIP!!
The owlet raised my anxiety even more because of false alarms when the sock would shift in their sleep. But we also had a nicu baby so the false alarms were extra triggering for me. Totally support people who enjoyed it and want to use it, just personally didn’t have a good experience with it.
I have heard this but we used owlet and only ever had 1 false alarm! And I’ve always said I’d rather have false alarms than not know of a real one🥺.
@@dirtbk11 unfortunately I had quite a few false alarms but I think it’s great if it works for others!!
Watching this gave me some reassurance on certain things ❤️ Praying for a healthy delivery 🙏
ahhh congrats!!! you got this!!!!
@@JessConte thank you Jess! ❤️
Good luck! I had my first at 40+3, so I understand going late. You can do this 😊
Awww *-* You'll have your baby in your arms in NO TIME!! my baby was born at 41+4 and I was DESPERATE for her to come already, so just hang in there and enjoy some crafts or hobbys you like before they arrive! :) You've got this, mama!!💪
@@gwh2100 thank you 💗
In my opinion, shifts don’t work unless your husband does not stay in the room.
I wore them for an entire year, and I would recommend them to anyone!
omg I do have those but rarely used them the first time!!
Yeah with time they really helped heal and protect! Good luck on the rest of your pregnancy journey 😊🩷
Loved that you kept changing backgrounds
We’ve been doing baby wearing nonstop for almost a year now! I’ve tried over a dozen carriers. My favorites:
- Newborn: Solly wrap (because you can tuck baby’s head in and still use both hands)
- When baby has more head control: Boppy comfort chic and ergo baby embrace
- When my baby outgrew the boppy and ergo baby embrace: Wild bird aerial (good for up to 45lbs)
Carriers are awesome for contact naps because baby can be napping on you while you get house work done!
I have looked into that one but wasn't sure if it was worth the price! 🙈
How do you feel this one does once baby is 20+ lbs??
the owelette sock is an absolute game changer !! it provides peace of mind when baby is sleeping & will alert you if baby’s oxygen level or heart rate is out of normal range ! it’s absolutely incredible. definitely worth the money!
Ah I adore Bridget from Built to Birth!! 💛 I’ll be starting her course soon, so I’m really glad to hear you liked it!
LOVE her!!!
The ergo baby embrace is the best baby carrier! It is so easy to put on and is a soft structured carrier.
The owlet is AMAZING!!! Definitely gives you peace of mind. My first baby was stillborn so when I had my son 5 years after I was so paranoid something would happen to him like SIDS and a friend of mine gifted me the owlet and it saved my sanity ❤
Artipoppe is hands down the best carrier. It’s expensive but worth it. I also loved the solly wrap for when my daughter was first born.
I’m so excited for baby #2!
The Ariel buckle baby carrier from wild bird is a godsend! You can wear them in it from newborn until they’re nearly 1! It’s adjustable and super easy. I will say, I used the moby wrap for the first few weeks just because they’re SO little. I loved that one too! Just took practice
ahhh thats actually what I had, the Moby! but it was so confusing for me hahah maybe I just need to practice more beforehand 🥲
Loved seeing this video. Breastfeeding is the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Congrats on being able to do 13 months!
Jess, I have used the owlet and still currently have it actually. I really liked it. It gave me some ease after losing my first son and having my second son come into this world. I was so nervous that he was going to stop breathing in the middle of the night or even during the day. I do recommend it!
you’re amazing!! I always look forward to watching your videos! I hope everything goes well with your pregnancy🩷🩷
Good luck to you and I can’t wait for you to enjoy the special moments that come with a second child being born ❤
baby bjorn “mini” carrier is AMAZING!! solly wrap is very comfy and form fitting to your body & baby however, its not as quick/easy
The number of times Jess repeated "hand-me-downs" is giving a gender reveal soft launch🤭
Also she said she earlier in the video... Maybe when talking about the swaddled I can't be bothered checking again
Not necessarily. she has a lot of gender neutral clothing items.
I feel like the fact the nursery is changing indicates it could be a boy! So who knows. I’m excited to find out!

Baby wear recommendations from a mama of 4 ❤
I loved the Solly wrap for the newborn days for when you need to get things done around the house. It'll take a few times to get used to the the long fabric and ties, but I really love how cozy and comfortable it was for baby and I.
We loved the baby bjorn carrier for when we are out and about. Super easy and fast to put on, only 4 clips 🥳
When you had your first babe, I had my 4th around the same time.
Boppy carrier is the BEST! It’s a hybrid of a wrap and a firmer carrier!
Had my 3rd baby almost 8 months ago… two products I’ve found that were IMMENSELY helpful with nipple pain/damage/recovery are:
1. Medi-honey
I’m 37+2 days with first baby, and this is a total life saver def things I didn’t know about! Thank you so much ❤️❤️
I have a 2 week old and we LOVE the BabyBjorn Mini mesh carrier! I started with 10 mins a day once he passed the 7lb mark and now he is totally fine being in it.
I’d love to see an updated house tour!
I loved the babybjorn air carrier! So easy to do and I felt so secure with it. And doing it on my own was a breeze!
Owlet is amazing!!!
Also I have all three of the Chekoh carriers! Used the wrap so so much and now use the clip carrier. My son ONLY naps on me in the carrier (we have tried everything) anyway it’s cute but the carriers are life changing and it’s also so cute!
Try out the happy baby carrier. I love babywearing my babies. It’s very helpful.
They are amazing and SO worth the money in my opinion!
didn't even know this was a thing!!!! thank you!!! 🥲
I highly recommend the Kony Baby Carrier. It was a huggggeeeee lifesave from having a newborn and a toddler!
Loving these loooong vlogs! 💛💛
Currently 36 weeks pregnant and I’m praying I have a fast safe delivery 💞
A lot of people are shocked I want a natural birth with no epidural too, but me and my husband have confidence! 🙏🏼
What I’ve heard about the owlet is that is just causes more anxiety…
I feel you! I was so intimidated by baby carriers! Specially when my husband went back to work and I was at home all alone! I found a really nice one, comfy, easy to use and stylish! It’a called Wildbird!
I love the tush baby with the carrier attachment!! Definitely for babies 5+ months but it’s so comfy for both of us!
A 30min video from Jess yesssss❤❤
