I get the impression Matt and Abby thought this could be an opportunity for Dellavlogs to educate people on adoption and show the amazing side of adoption....but ended up learning that how they went about their adoption was icky...

I get the impression that Matt and Abby invited them into their podcast to set them up for failure. Is it possible that they know exactly how Story will be and is being exploited and they don't like it? Matt and Abby surely aren't perfect, but they seem a lot more honest and mature than Bella and Dallin (in my opinion)

I’m 42, adopted, knew forever I was adopted. My parents NEVER made it seem like they “saved” me. I know the situation I was born into and the privilege I was adopted into. I put the dots together. My parents were just open and I as I got older, I asked questions. I have a strong feeling they will make themselves the “savior” to their kids. My parents addressed everything just in facts and details. And I honestly think that was best. It wasn’t that I was a child of a 16 year old and was adopted by a family that could provide so much more. I literally forgot at times I was adopted. I just feel like this adoption story is going to be their “thing”, just like the DD. I love adoption and think it’s amazing. But if you truly love your adopted kids, (and my parents never ever talked about me like that), you won’t make it a non stop topic of conversation. Period.

    • @rykersmimi
      @rykersmimi ปีที่แล้ว +24

Exactly! The children aren't the storyline & the parents aren't "saviors". My best friend in school was adopted and her parents were open about it with her. They just kept it matter of fact style and just loved my best friend every day.

Hey ,we have something in common., Both my brother (adopted from another mother) and i were told about our circumstances as soon as we were old enough to understand. We were told we were specially chosen ,not "saved" too ,which has been such a lovely memory as i`ve gotten older. Like you i rarely think about it ,only really when i`m with a dr and asked about family medical history. LOve hearing you talk about your experience. We both got very lucky.Xox

Your story is heart warming. My husband was adopted in 1946 by wonderful parents. The birth mom’s father was a minister that sent her away when she got pregnant in college. My husband’s parents received a call from their doctor that a baby had been born and did they want him. They picked him up directly from the hospital. He always knew he was adopted and chose to meet his birth mother when he was 60. We thanked her for bringing him into the world and let her know he had a wonderful life. She was relieved to tell her story and hear he wasn’t mad at her. In 1946 it would have been very difficult for a single mom to raise a child when the dad ran & without family support.

Shame on Bella and Dallin. They made promises to the birth mother and won her faith, to raise her daughter, on the basis of them. How can they fulfil the promises if - only a few months after making them - they have already forgotten what the promises were? It tells me that the promises were not sincerely meant. The birth mother has been severely misled and manipulated. 😔

My adoption was closed. I am 32 and my parents adopted me at 2 months old. My parents could easily have blown off the promises they made to my birthmother that she requested, but instead they went above and beyond! I can't believe they said they forgot. My mother even wrote my birthmother a note thanking her for the selfless act she made. My parents have always been open with me about my adoption but never made it into a big production like these two. I never have felt any different. My parents didn't struggle with infertility and they had two biological children before adopting me. You would never know by how they treated me and GENUINELY loved/love me that I am not biologically related.
P.s. My parents didn't care if I was a boy or a girl and never saw what I looked like until the moment the social worker placed me in their arms at the airport. All they knew was they were getting a Jamaican American baby girl. I was malnourished, dirty and sick and in the home video they still have nothing but love for me in their faces.

My husband and I have been pursuing adoption for just over a year now. We have two biological little girls and still feel this aching like I know I have another baby out there that I just haven't met yet.
It's so painful to see the way this couple is talking about adoption. Like they won some prize or something. It's not right. We've been patiently waiting for over a year, still no matches. We've shown to probably 10 cases and have not been chosen. It defiantly feels weird that they got a match within just a few short months of their adoption journey starting.
I read your comment and thought it was so beautiful how you talked about your parents. I can only hope and pray that my husband and I get a match someday soon and that baby will feel so loved by us. Just like you with your family. Thanks for sharing!

It sounds EXACTLY like a catholic charities type of situation: I was given up for adoption 35 yrs ago, my mother’s family ‘sent’ her to another state when they found out she was pregnant with me and told her ‘not to come back with THAT baby, if you do you won’t have somewhere to live’. Needless to say I was put up for adoption and lived the best life possible. It was a closed adoption but I made the choice to find her at the age of 18 to see my background (and medical history) I was hoping for a relationship but decided in the end it wasn’t the best mentally for me (I still keep in touch with some of the family but not others). I know for me my birth parents made the best decision because my life is amazing (for the most part LOL).
I actually grew up looking just like my parents (adoptive parents but the only parents I know: being a parent doesn’t mean blood- it means who made you the person you are today )
I completely agree with you Josh, there should be a cause that they should not be allowed to put the child online (publicly) for a a select number of years but that’s where it gets tricky).

They are idiots who are completely removed from reality. Having enough money and resources to offset the sources of commonly felt struggle certainly makes things easier. Their circumstances are wildly different than the average caretaker of a newborn child! Their situation can't be compared to others, especially people who carried and birthed their children, and it's insulting to attempt to do so. They need to shut their mouths about it and stay in their lane. Their lack of understanding what makes their situation different is un-fucking-real and makes them look like morons. I don't have and never want kids, i will never live that life, yet i can still conceptualize what makes it hard and why they have no ground to stand on here! Let's see what makes their situation "not that hard" shall we?
-no physical damage to your body, zero recovery physically and/or mentally.
-no feeling of loneliness or sadness from lack of support for YOU during your time of healing. No wishing that someone would ask you how YOU'RE doing after a difficult, traumatic, and mutilating experience.
-no flood of hormones and altering brain chemistry that change your thoughts, behaviors, and mood, literally altering how you experience life.
-no dependency of the child to YOUR BODY, which leads to my next point...
-no loss of autonomy or agency to create and sustain the child's life, a major contributor to PPD.
      -no worry about finances
-no worry of maternity leave or other work related issues. Do i have any leave? Is it enough? Will i be ready to go back when it ends? Will i be treated the same when i go back? Will this effect my chances of promotion? Am i going to have to choose between my job and being a parent?
-no worries about childcare as related to work or otherwise, there will always be the option for hiring a lot of help for any reason at all.
-no frustration or guilt with getting behind on household or business tasks.(due to unlimited access to said help)
-not having to breastfeed, which is a full time, 'round the clock job that requires a lot of effort. No issues with under or oversupply. No frustration with a baby that won't latch, or guilt from not being amazing at it or just not wanting to do it anymore. No complications or discomfort that come with breastfeeding, and no restrictions on food or drink that can effect quality and supply.
-no sleep deprivation. I don't believe for one second that they don't have a night nurse.
-lastly, and this plays into the massive amounts of help they can afford, no feelings of being overwhelmed, not having enough support, or feeling stuck with no options. They can take breaks from parenting whenever they please, and had to sacrifice nothing to become parents. Not their time, not their bodies, not their financial security, not their jobs, not their lifestyle...nothing.
These two bringing a baby into their lives is more appropriately compared to someone adopting a cat. Life is different, but also not really, and no shit it isn't that hard because the cat isn't dictating your schedule, altering your livelihood, or interfering with the ability to care for yourself.

Even when she came home, I was recovering from a C-section and the stress of other things happening made it such a rough transition.
So for Bella to act like “oh hey it’s not so bad!” Felt like such a slap in the face. She didn’t even acknowledge WHY it’s so much easier for her and acted like it’s just her being effortlessly amazing. Hated that video.

I completely respected his feelings because I knew how hard it was for him to be vulnerable and tell me. He didn't want to feel that way, but he did. Women can mother a plant it's just in our nature, but men sometimes can't make that connection. Because of that conversation, I went and did some research, and a lot of men anonymously said that they only adopted because the wife wanted to. They care about the child, but they don't love them. In my opinion, that isn't fair to the child or the man. I don't know what our journey will look like, but I know that adopting isn't on the list of options for us.

Her family didn’t want anyone to know that she was pregnant, so they sent her to a young pregnant girls boarding school, where she also gave birth to him. She was forced to put the baby up for adoption and then was brought back home and no one ever spoke of it again. My uncle and his birth mom have reconnected and he learned that she never wanted to give him up, but she had no choice. No one ever found out she was pregnant, the family told everyone that she was studying abroad.

@@tashaax1993xanimalloverx and YOU know that people aren't going down to natural springs and dunking single use containers meant for sale into the water, right? All bottled water comes from a tap of some sort, and many bottled waters share the exact same source as tap water. Shit, more than half of all bottled water is literally packaged tap water from city lines. Potable drinking water comes and goes through different lines and are subject to different treatment standards. (The source may be the same, but in that case it means your toilet water is the same potable quality as your sink water, it's just collected in a toilet, making it undesirable for drinking for obvious reasons.) It is true that not all tap water is created equally, though! Quality, treatment, and source vary greatly, but in modern developed areas your sink water is perfectly safe and kept seperate from waste waters that would pollute the supply. If it's just a matter of preference, enjoy your bottled water, nothing wrong with that! But let's not pretend drinking sink water is the same as sticking a straw into the toilet bowl, or that bottled water springs into existence without a bunch of man made processes to collect, treat, and package it.

Its fun to dress up and hold babies was my thinking as a child and seems to be Bella's as an adult with a real child. She never shows tummy time or floor time. She just holds her with her leg dangling amd babywears all the time. Also, I wonder how many they turned down just because the baby wasn't a girl. Just saying.

Babies with special needs are often harder to place. Sometimes, it's because a couple legitimately can't afford the medical bills involved to give that child proper care. Sometimes, it's because people just don't want to deal with that and will wait for a "perfect" fit.

In adoption profiles, the promises are usually very non-committal. For example. "We will raise this child to know and love God's grace" or "We will ensure this child always knows your story and the love and selflessness you displayed for her" or "She will always have a safe place to live where she is lived unconditionally." They aren't typically actually commitments, for the very reason that agents know parents are not likely to follow through with things.

As a mother of an adopted child, the biggest thing you have to realize going into adoption is that it is NOT about you. It is about loving a bio family (every situation is different of course), and not making adoption the child’s identity. My son is my son, and his story may be different, but he is my son. Not my “adopted” son, not the son I “chose,” not the one who is “lucky.” When you choose to adopt, you choose to say yes (again, there are many aspects of this, and you can have boundaries) to a child regardless of race, gender, etc. Again, it’s not about you and getting the designer child you want.

    @caitlinobrien3828 ปีที่แล้ว +21

To be completely honest, if someone is not aware of (or doesn't believe) how exploitative "family vlogging" is, unfortunately I can see the appeal of placing your baby with an "influencer couple" who aspire to be "family vloggers". When you place a baby under normal circumstances you only have a small picture of the prospective family's financial and living situation, how they interact with each other, etc... and once the ink dries on those adoption papers, no matter what level of openness you've agreed to, there's no obligation on the adoptive parents' part to ever allow you to visit or even see a photo of the baby you gave birth to ever again. If you're young, naive, scared, unsure of your decision, etc, this could easily cause a false sense of security, feeling like you know the family that your child will end up with, feeling like even if they close the adoption you can still watch your child grow up in what feels like real time, etc.

this entire story is so hard for me to watch. I was adopted from teen parents by a wealthy over privileged, abusive, mentally ill couple who had been rejected from all of their local and state adoption agencies in their home state. So they just moved to a different state for the adoption where of distant family member lived in New # about a teen who was pregnant. (my birth mom) the story i’ve gathered now as a adult is that my birth moms parents were adimit she give up the baby (me) to my adoptive parents because their was big $ involved. and she was pressured into it as a teen kid. then my adoptive parents basically made a purchase of a “white female attractive baby”. literally the phrase used multiple times. smh. they were extremely raciest and discriminatory people. and i was used as a prop and piece of property by them for my entire life! and they used their money, local power and high powered friends to exploit me and put me on display. i had no privacy and no voice. i was abused both physically and mentally. i was forced into child modeling in the early 80s and 90s you can imagine how sick and toxic that industry was then. i started being drugged by my father with hardcore opiates as a tiny kid around 6, prior to that it had been alcohol. i was forced into opiate dependencey as a form of control and to make me a brainless zombie kid so my mentally ill adoptive mother would have a easier time controlling my emotions and actions and she would leave my adoptive dad alone about me. he was tired of phone calls at work or parties from my crazy mom screaming about me. I was an absolute hard-core people pleaser, and went out of my way to try and make them happy as to avoid abuse and the mental torture from them. it took me decades to get help into therapy and get off opiates. it still to this day is a puzzle i’m working on piecing together. but watching this couple’s channel has really effected me. they are so similar in some ways to my own parents. i don’t think they are as bad as all that but they have a similar mindset of the baby being a accessory and cash cow and she’s not a human being she’s s piece of property to
    them. 😢😢😢

In the same video also! They contradicted themselves in a matter of minutes😂

Bella makes me sick she’s so fixated on the babies looks and treating her like a accessory it’s quite frightening!! How people like this are allowed to adopt and exploit straight away, I definitely think there’s going to be a lawsuit once this little girl becomes of age her whole life exposed to whole entire world, because she looks exactly like Bella envisioned she was worthy of a home,as for Abbie slandering other family vloggers on there name choices but sitting her with her friends and they named they child story okay then lol why do these people even get paid 😅

What’s going to happen if Story is some how not perfect when she grows up? Just can’t imagine them being genuinely supportive off screen and shitballs if she’s a member of the lgbtq+ community! Bet organic hand crafted food & clothing and homeschooling will be high on the list of must do’s + employing a multi lingual nanny.

Matt and Abby, your “friends” are straight up lying to you. They “don’t remember promises they made to the most important woman in their life?” Wow. Disgusting.

The dog eats grilled nuggets from Chick-fil-A & steak bowls from Chipotle. Then dude proceeds to say, but he won't eat bacon, CHICKEN or STEAK 😂

The first thought that came to mind was “that baby looks like a doll” why is she wrapped so tightly

I know someone who either wore or wrapped their baby all the time & baby got pneumonia bc his lungs didn’t get to expand all the way. I think baby wearing is great but this looks wrong.

I think this also could be part of why they deleted this video.

The fact they chose her case bc she was a cute baby to them for their videos. Most disgusting thing ever. Anyone else really wanting a baby would take the first case given to them! Not pick and choose which baby is the cutest to adopt. They are the worst humans ever

It’s kinda hard to hide from your kid that they’re adopted when you’ve posted it all over the internet. I really hope she doesn’t get bullied because of all of the stuff they post about her online, not taking into consideration that it’s there forever.

Ok why in the h*ll does she keep patting the baby. She’s not crying so doesn’t need soothing. Why is she dressed like Mary Mary quite contrary. With the yellow gingham frock yellow headband.
