While Ronaldo is an exceptional player and one of the best players in football's history, Messi is impossible. And it may sound controversial, delusional, biased or whatever but there is no debate between him and Ronaldo, simple as. And that is unfair because Ronaldo's skill and legacy is unprecedented really. Statistically, yeah, Messi is clear. Better goal to game ratio, most assist in history, most MVP awards , most goals in a single year and season, and most european golden boots to name a few. When it comes to trophies they are pretty much the same, although Messi has more trophies overall (2nd in history). The thing is though, Messi is impossible. I urge anyone who reads this to take a ball to an open area an try to run at that speed without losing control of the ball, forget other players or obstacles. Then try changing direction maybe. This. It isn't even hard. That is impossible, and i mean actually IMPOSSIBLE. There are certainly many exceptional dribblers but no-one has ever been able to move like Messi does, you even said so yourself.
Messi, while being one of the greatest goalscorers of all time, and also the absolute best dribbler of all time is also THE best passer ever too. His ability to pass is one thing, his vision, IQ and overall genius is another. He also never dives/flops, something that in football these days is extremely rare. While it doesn't neccesarily make him a better player that is a trait I personally admire about him. Also his mindset is incredibly humble. I don't want this to seem like hate on Ronaldo's part though, because like I said: His skill and legacy is unprecedented. But Messi is physically impossible

While I do believe Messi is still the greatest player ever, it’s clear you’re getting *the best* ever confused with *the greatest* ever. Messi is miles above Cristiano in terms of footballing ability, that’s undeniable. However greatness is a separate thing and is measured in things like records and achievements. For example, Ronaldo being the all time leading goal scorer, top scorer in the champions league, most assists in the champions league, UCL trophies with 2 different teams, found major success in 3 different countries are examples people use for Ronaldo being the greatest. Messi for me is still the GOAT but there definitely is a debate in terms of greatness.

He also just moved to the hardest league and was his teams best player at 37. As I said, Messi’s better but let’s not get things twisted. When Messi is Ronaldo’s age I’m certain he won’t be playing in Europe.

Even if he is younger his legacy isn’t going to improve compared to Ronaldo’s at Messi’s age who’s legacy was still getting bigger. Unless he wins the UCL again or even the World Cup (which I would love to see) his career at mid 30s isn’t going to be nearly as good as Ronaldo’s.

Great video! I know I’m late to the party but just to give you some context… an average striker has a goal scoring rate of 0.4 goals per game. The best strikers to have ever existed have scoring rates of 0.6 goals per game. Ronaldo has a 0.7 scoring rate for his career. Messi has a 0.8 scoring rate. That already is ridiculous. Then if you add on top of that, successful dribbles, assisting (dubs in NBA terms) which he has to most assist ever by any player ever played, passing percentage, goal scoring opportunities created he is at the very top or top 3 in all those stats too. He is the most completely player soccer has ever seen. It’s not just his footwork and scoring, it’s like comparing Steph against other player… steph makes watching basketball games fun cause of the crazy stuff he does… Messi is like that… he makes soccer look simple and easy and then on top of that he does things no one else can ever do. My respect goes to Ronaldo and all his accomplished in soccer definitely going down as top 5 best players of all time but Messi is hands down the GOAT.

Well where to start, messi still holds the record for the most goals in one calender year. In 2012 he scored 91, for club and country. A striker is considered worldclass when he is scoring 30 goals a season on a consistent level. Messi along with Cristiano ronaldo have been dominating the sport for more than 15 years now. They are coming close to the end of their careers tho. Age always catches up.

Cristiano Ronaldo is a sensational player. Almost certainly one of the top 5 players of all time. And yet Messi is better at almost everything -- better dribbler, MUCH better passer, better vision, better free-kick taker. They're about equal as shooters/scorers (though Messi is slightly more effective), and Ronaldo is better at heading the ball (he's physically much bigger/stronger). That's it. Messi is absolute magic on the football pitch. Only Maradona and Pele belong in the conversation with Messi, but IMHO Messi is just a step above.

That Guardiola team was unfuckinbelievable. It was a perfect storm of greatness that just happened to come together at that point in time.
... and it's not like Barcelona went out there and paid a chunk of cash for these players, no no... Barcelona created them. They were in the Barcelona youth academy since they were kids.
Imagine if an NBA or NFL team had a youth academy where they could create the players from scratch instead of drafting them... that's what this was. The Barcelona academy created Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Puyol, Pique, Busquets, and a fuckton of players that were incredible.
In 2012 I got to watch this team... I saw Messi score 2 goals right in front of me and made it look easy. I'll never forget it.

just to let you know, recently he has won his first world cup with his national team Argentina. I love you appreciation for the sport aswell and I think you should look further into it.
