I'm from Buenos Aires. My husband, Jack, was English (unfortunately, he passed away last year)
We met each other on Facebook. Our first conversation was about the love that we had for our respective countries; he used to love Argentina (he was a Tottenham fan like Steve in this video, and a Boca Juniors fan) and I've been an Anglophile since I was a teenager.
He always stated that Malvinas (Falklands) are Argentinian...
Now I have family and friends in England, and I try to go every time I can.
I absolutely love England and its people. All my love to all of them ❤

Got me tears of joy after watching this , didn't know Brit's are so sensitive when it takes to speak about we Argentinians . You have such a class for everything, you are delightfuly respectful . Yes i had contact with Brit tourists when they come for travel at Buenos Aires . Let me tell you something it still keeps me amazed : the intellectual affinity we have to Brit people is enormous . The common sense and the sense of humor is so easy to feel one to each other !
After watching this footage (first of all , thanks to the interviewing guy for his brilliant job ) i reached a conclusion . Both Brits and Argies have a great potential for every kind of ventures . Then , if somebody still keeps the narrow mind for those unhappy 1982's affairs , right now is the moment to be clever like no ever : let's allow the kelpers to keep their lives alone as they always wished . Meanwhile, let's celebrate both Brits and Argentinians have a lot of good businesses to do , culture , turism, science , human rights , medical research , etc , etc , can you see it ? The newest generation of both countries are improving the nice friendship we always might care . Just seeing the lovely faces of the interviewed persons here , nothing will stop this warm feeling we have to the UK's friends . And my words enclose a lot of thanks as well 💚

But if an event stucked the most , i should tell the facts from my brother Pablo who incidentally stayed last December 2022 in London . Every time he went to the restaurant or snack bars , sufficed the others realized he was Argentinian and automatically all folks were claiming Argentina, Argentina in loud demonstration perhaps because those were the days of Qatar's football worldcup , not to mention the Day of the Final between Argentina vs France . Only one detail that i seem to notice is that from outside often forget that at that time, we were in a dictatorship, led by a drunk monster in power, who was disappearing people, censoring many things, oppresing people and sending our country into chaos. And at the time, he initiated the war and sent our inexperienced and poorly and cruelly trained youth to die in the end of the world to divert the population attention, from the injustice, corruption and violence of the regime. In fact, there were negotiations at one point, that were going to be fruitful, and good diplomatic relations, but it was all frustrated after a serious of events, the dictatorship being one of them.

Nice interviews, i'm from Argentina, and i think that we learn the War of Malvinas, because we are a young country and we lost lot of young people (the people who participated in the war was 18/20 years old, they finish the high school and they were forced to join the military -because in the 70'/80' we had a dictatorial goverment-), so it was a big lost to Argentina. We are not a country that have military strategies, we are pacific, so we lost. It is amazing that in the british schools they do not study about this war. For argentinian people this war was an injury that doesn't heal. Although it is refreashing to hear people in their 40/50s that has good feelings towards Argentina. 😁

Hi, thank you for referring to Britain, not just England, there's a long time prevailing habit for the English & Argentinians to refer to the conflict as if it was only the English versus the Argentinians. Some of the rubbish excuses I have been given for this have been truly provocative. I am a Scot, therefore, I won't speak for Welsh, Northern Irish or for that matter, the English at this time. Many Scots like the aforementioned fought in that conflict, a disproportionate amount in fact, soldiers in the paras & marines, but also the Scots Guards at Mt Tumbledown. I alone, attended schools with four Scots that fought in the conflict. We are a proud & ancient people, we have never been part of England & never will be. The nation state currently at least, is the UK of Great Britain & Northern Ireland, not England, a video on this topic just can't only be on England & Argentina, it just can't. The conflict was so avoidable & yet it has led to so much ill feeling & should never have been allowed to get to that stage. I wish you & the beautiful people of Argentina the best of health, happiness & success. Best wishes from Scotland. Alba gu bràth! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 🇦🇷

At the request of the head of the American Department of the Foreign Office, Sidney Spicer, researcher Gastón De Bernhardt prepared a memorandum that condensed the history of the islands and the legal arguments of Great Britain and Argentina. That memorandum served as an internal guide for the Foreign Office until 1938. Bernhardt stated the following: “The question of sovereignty was specifically excluded from the agreement made with Spain in 1771.” This agreement contained a secret clause by which Great Britain was obliged to abandon the islands, which it did in 1774. “For 55 years, until 1829 (that is, until 13 years after Argentina's independence was proclaimed), Great Britain “He showed no interest in the islands.” “Great Britain began to claim the eastern island only in 1829” (it had never claimed it during Spanish rule; this is the island where Puerto Argentino is located). Spicer Letter (1910). In a letter to De Bernhardt himself, Spicer confessed: “It is difficult to avoid the conclusion that the attitude of the Argentine government is not entirely unjustified, and that our action has been somewhat despotic.” Fitzmaurice Memorandum (1936). In February 1936, legal adviser George Fitzmaurice advised against Britain submitting the Falklands question to international arbitration: “Our position has certain weaknesses. But we have occupied the islands for more than a century (albeit illegally, as Argentina says) and for strategic reasons we cannot give them up. So the best thing to do is to take a hard line.”

Nice interviews, nice people, they look honest and without resentment about Malvinas/Falklands war. And we have a lot in common with UK, the sports (football, hockey, rugby, polo), the breeds of cattle, the trains infrastructure, and some old villages, and even some with Welsh people as Gaiman, Trevelin, Trelew, Rawson... Very polite and educated, I respect them because they have a lot of history comparing to all the countries of the American continent... the Irish Wiliiam Brown as one of our Independence heroes...

And before that we had to deal with napoleon, further back we've have centuries of war with France, the vikings, the Romans and on it goes.

The Falkland islanders are more British than the British, if you read the history of the Falklands the British landed there first 1690 Captain John Strong and named the islands after Viscount Falkland the British left and over the Centuries different countries established bases the French at Port Louis the French left gave this settlement to the Spanish the Americans even had a two year stint in the Falklands, when Argentina gained independence from Spain they spent two years in the Port Louis settlement Argentina at the time was called Rio de Plata the Americans actually put Rio de Plata off the East island in 1833 Britain decided to really establish a settlement colony Captain Moody Brook and his engineers Stanley was established and over the years British sheep farmers came to the islands and established camps ( farms ) a lot of Scottish from the West Coast islands there ancestors are still there today.
I have worked in the Falklands and it’s British the inhabitants the residents are Really British in there ways and culture it’s got a diverse mix of Chilean and Philippine with people from Africa but the locals are British and there ancestors are British it’s very similar to the West Coast of Scotland, the war was brutal in 82 fought in the winter and mainly in the mountains outside Stanley it was hard fought and the locals will always remember the occupation and the men lost fighting for there freedom the lose of life on both sides is heartbreaking but the Junta invaded to gain support from the Argentine people General Galtieri his junta were losing support from the population and thought this would unite the Country it didn’t the British responded and won the conflict in all 74 days
There are two very good reads 74 days a Falkland Islanders account of the occupation and conflict by John Smith and Three days in June the battle for Mount Longdon by James O’Connell two very good reads
It was the British sheep farmers who made the Falklands there home and generation after generation grafted and persevered to create a home a community

UK stole the islands, expelled Argentinian people, implanted its own and now begs for self-determination
On the other hand, UK is one of the countries that rejects the will of Crimean and Donbass people to be part of Russia
But yeah, now we Argentinians have to respect the opinion of implanted people only because the British wish it 😴👍🏼
