I dont have the time and patience or place for all this. I wish I did but I've come to realize I'm not that good or ambitious enough to do automotive projects. I wish someone would start selling these already build and ready to install so I could just have someone local install it and be done. I've found I save more money and time paying a professional then trying to do this stuff myself.
Good info! I got the output shaft extension from placerlode as well. Waiting on a good xt225 donor bike or engine to pop up for a deal. Hope it’s gonna be my winter project.
No Video, It was a quick lets see if this will work project one afternoon. I welded up some scrap 2 x 2 square stock for the frame and used some plate steel for the mounting tabs.
I've been racing and riding bikes 1964. But there is something I'm missing. Would you or someone explain to me why you'd do all that great work for just 25cc.. The kick starter is a great add to the bike. But doesn't someone make a after market kick starter? I have been really wanting a TW 200. But would put a Super trap style pipe on, drill the air box out to get better air flow with a bigger flat slide carb, get a new cam a little hotter or grind it my self, move the timing up about 5 degrees and strip about 20 LBS off. Then I think you would have a little Monster. You did some awesome work I enjoyed your videos. Thank you Ben Peirce Bakersfield, Ca.
I've done the conversion, besides the Xt225 swap which give you a 6 speed wide ratio transmission, you get a 6 disc clutch. Also, going to a flat slide Mikuni TM33 with a 115 main jet and you've got a TW that's worth having
I did the swap primarily to gain the 6 speed transmission. To go anywhere out of town we have to be able to ride 60 MPH for about 15-20 miles. I didn't feel comfortable with riding that long at that high of rpm. With the original TW200 5 speed engine 60 MPH would be around 7800-7900 rpms compared to the XT225 6 speed conversion and a swap to a 47 tooth rear sprocket now at 60mph i'm at 6400-6500 rpms.
The XT350 engine would require a lot of modifications to the frame and drive system to work. The good thing about the TW200/XT225/TTR225/TTR230 is they came from the same basic engine family. Think of them as a small block chevy a lot of the parts are interchangeable and they bolt up the same way.

After the 225 engine swap I put a 15t counter shaft sprocket and a 47t rear and it'll run 70mph easy and still climb any hill in 1st and 2nd
Also a TTR230 is the same as an XT225 for a swap

Awesome job...thanks for sharing and posting.
Great info! Thanks for video documenting your swap! I plan on doing this swap once I get a TW.
Thanks, I hope to have part 2 up soon.
I’m glad I could buy factory built TW225 with a kick start. OK I don’t have the 6th gear but it saved a lot of work.
Really appreciate your video on the upgrade
but i dont have a dinosaur shop helper. can i still do this????
Having an extra set of claws is always helpful but with the right tools/ingenuity you can do it.
We all have been waiting fo this to happen 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Why do you need to swap the tw flywheel?
Great info I have a tw200. I wanna do this in great great info
308 definitely ,I’ll use my 223/5.56 for Bartering/trade lol
Did you happen to video how you mounted the XT225 motor to your engine stand?

@@ddstdub8370 yea. but it's also a stronger engine the 225, isn't?
The kickstarter kit is all yamaha. Nobody makes a kit for it
Would a xt 350 motor fit..not a power house but good strong motor

Does it work?
It works great I've clocked about 200 miles on it with no serious problems. I finally have the carb dialed in and will have part 2 up soon.
@@ddstdub8370 awesome!
