PG Tips should give you royalties for product placement Mike. Good tea. Not Yorkshire tea (as advertised by Sean Bean) but it's our favourite here too. Oh, the antenna is pretty cool too.
Great videos, just started building a loop to Franks recipe but with an airspace cap and coupling loop ( spooky coincidence ) i'm hoping to use it primarily on 80m so have a 500pf airspace coming my way, but i'll be very interested in seeing your "double copper loop" ! M0awn
Hello Mike. Did you need maximum capacitance from that air variable? I normaly connect only the stators to each side of the loop; that prevents loses on moving connections. It does reduce your overall capacitance by half though. Was that your intention? Looking forward to the double loop episode. 73 de ZS2VR Vaughan
There's a few good deals on EBay out of Russia for vacuum capacitors right now. If postage and the shocking postal service my side wasn't such an issue this time of the year I would be tempted....
Hello! I build a loop antenna with the measures that every body has of 92.5 cms I got 60 inches diameter the loop should be 1/5 of that 12” but I see that you loop is bigger… can you tell me how long is the circunference of your loop and why? Thanks a lot
Very interesting! So if I'm seeing this right, the loop does about the same as the other antennas on 20, but is a couple of S units down on 40? I'm assuming that the radiation orientation was the same for both the loop and dipole on 40 m?
Hi Mike, thank you for your great videos. Just one question. Maybe I missed it somewhere but which version of coupling did you use? 73 and a happy new year, Rico, DG5BQ
@@mike-M0MSN I built a loop myself in order to use it inside hotel rooms since I travel a lot but didn’t have much luck with it. I simply don’t get out with it
Sorry I’m confused - that’s a beautiful looking butterfly capacitor but it seems you’ve linked the two stator plate stacks as one and created a commutator to the rotating plate that would normally not have an electrical connection to anything. Won’t that create a lot of resistance ?
Looking even better after the tidy-up. Sharper than I realised. Excellent build Mike 👍🏻
Thanks Ian👍
Happy new year Mike all best wishes and good health and blessings. 73s from PD0ROH
HNY to you too 😊👍
I dig this. Thanks.
Looks great on 20m, very little difference across all three antennas & the Loop is only a few feet above ground. Nice build Mike. 👍
Yes, thanks
Great stuff 👍🇬🇧❤️
Thanks 👍

Milk and Sugar Sir?.... Julie Andrews or Mary Poppings??
@@mike-M0MSN Julie Andrews please. Whoopi Goldberg for coffee.
It lives and with a 1.0 SWR as well. Hells teeth, you will be telling me you can make aerials next :-P Joking aside, nicely done!
Cheers 🍻

Not long to wait👍 500pf wow, that a nice Cap
@@mike-M0MSN Long too lol !
You can't make an omelette without burning a few worktops (or something like that ) and I like the make it work whatever approach . Great stuff.
Cheers John, just the wife to convince now😂😂

Hey Vaughan, yep ever bit of capacity needed, however keep an eye out...👍

Yes and no, when I am on the Magloop, the pre-amp is automatically switched in, without it is 3dB down on all bands but also smooch more quieter.
Great job Mike, did you try rotating the loop to see what difference it makes on Rx?
Yep, I have some nice nulls 👍
Great Video. Have you tried a loop on top band?
No not yet😊
👍👏👏
Hi Mike,
thank you for your great videos.

1m standard loop.
33cm diameter
@@mike-M0MSN Ok. Is it coax? And if so how did you do the wiring? Shielded? Unshielded?
Coax, unshielded, 😂

Aah, I have turned a 3 plate cap into a two plate cap using the stator plate as one and the rotator plates as the other..creating a larger capacitor
What is the value of your capacitor?
How much copper pipe did you use Mike. Fran M6yik
A lot, 6M's. lol
Might have to give one a go. What size cap are you using. I have a 5pf to 190pf spare
@@ukm6yik69 that should be perfect
I use a 15, 40 Magnetic Loop antenna on the wall next to me @ about 40 watts. KG7IRJ Ohio Extra. TH-cam showed me how to make it.
Very nice 😍💋 💝💖♥️❤️
Thanks 🤗
Hi Mike - please can you advise spec/part number for that motorised variable capacitor?
Also check out my super-simple YT channel.

Isnt that a ts990 ? 6300£ radio and the dsp still makes that watery sound. 👎
a yaesu ftdx3000 has better dsp and that thing is for 1400£ new.
LOL
