I watch everything Star Wars from Disney to fan fiction. Some is good some is bad. But lots of it is still entertaining to me. I think the Acolyte will be interesting. Lots of Jedi working together. Maybe we will see some decent action.

I'm of the OG Trilogy age, so aside from George selling the franchise, I think a lot of the poor projects are due to the prequels, sequels and animated projects trying to shoehorn/retcon in storylines that play into the original 3 movies. It's been almost 50 years since we got those, which I think is long enough time for reboot to happen of the Skywalker saga. They need a good director/storyteller, a la Dune's Denis V., to retell Episodes 2-6 w/ storylines from The Clone Wars incorporated (the young Anakin plot from Ep1 can be dropped or utilized as short flashbacks in a reboot IMO) to create a more cohesive storyline - like including Anakin & Ahsoka's relationship into live action and adding more of her to Luke's character development. A reboot like this would also allow Eps 7-9 to be dropped and finally forgotten about.

It really pains me, as a life long SW fan, to say, you are 100% correct. This should be realllllly simple for them, especially after seeing the reaction to the Mandalorian S2 finale, to figure out what to do, but they can't get out of their own way. I like the trailer, too, and am trying to be hopeful, but I can't help but keep thinking about the, "the force is female" and leaked memos about Disney's priority with DEI, then seeing what they keep putting out and just being completely turned off before I even watch the shows. I'm with you with the trailer looking like it might be a fun series, however, I think the problem is mostly what the production is saying, and they talking more about the identity politics and representation rather than the series plot, the setting and the characters which is what people actually care. I would give it a fair shot when it comes out, but I'm not going to judge the series by the "Inclusiveness" Disney and the production loves to brag about, but by the quality of the content, story and character development.

And I have to say with the exception of the Sequels and Season 3 of Mandalorian, I’ve enjoyed everything stars wars. I’ve read the high republic books and love them…some way more then most. So for me to hear that Disney killed Star Wars???? I mean again to each his own. I personally am very excited for The Acolyte.

The trailer looks cool. Some parts do look cheap but so is everything Disney. The issue I have with it is that none of the shots look like they’re in a galaxy far far away.
All I wanted was to see Luke as a grand master, rebuild the Jedi order, Mara Jade and the Solo children grow up. Disney had everything they needed to succeed. It’s a massive shame that they chose political ideology over good storytelling.
The rejection started with Solo, which I enjoyed for what it was (believe it or not; plus, I shat on the idea from the grip; I always said “who the hell asked for a young Han Solo film besides nobody?”), then the rejection continued into Andor, and now the Acolyte. For me, the Acolyte just looks bad. Cookie cutter bs, utterly predictable, canon-breaking/altering decisions are evident, the Jedi fight scene in the trailer just evokes the AotC Jedi battle of Geonosis (in a bad way) with too many yellow lightsabers included (thats nitpicky but that’s how I feel; the show hasn’t even come out and the yellow saber color is already no longer special; if there were once so many yellow sabers around, why are there none to be scene in the prequels, especially considering your saber colors is contingent upon your relationship with the force itself?). It just looks a bit like an edgey, wannabe Star Wars dei comic come to life shoehorning in a story in a period of time that has no business possessing said story.
You don't have to meet expectations from fans. You need good stories and characters like Rogue One that proves that Star Wars is on the right track. And don't talk about it and hope that it gets better. If you are disappointed often enough you will eventually realize the reality that hope is another word for delusion.
I also thought the Acolyte trailer was good… and I have the same trepidation for what is to come. I just want them to tell a good engaging story where the story is the priority and it doesn’t feel like a mechanism for delivering an agenda. I am not any kind of -ist, I couldn’t care less what the director’s personal persuasions, activist causes, or pronouns are. I wish her the best and happiest life ever. I just hope she tells a good story that belongs in the Star Wars universe and leaves the IP out of the culture war. I just want to be engaged in a quality story. My concern so far, and what has been marketed and highlighted- is that I know more about the director and lead actress’s views on sexual preference and gender views than I do about the story or something unique about the show’s content or how it was made. It’s the show content that will bond fans together, win more fans, and get the recognition that both Star Wars and Disney needs. It will be the show that I hope it to be if most of the media, articles, and discussions afterwards are about the Star Wars story they tell. If instead it’s about what the directors and actors choose to do in their free time, or the % count of representation of the cleanup crew, then the story wasn’t good enough and it’s time to rethink things…again.
Attack of the Clones & ROTS didn’t even win the box office the years they came out. There’s only been a couple periods in history when SW was the biggest brand. 1977-82, 1999, and 2015-16. That’s not a lot of championships
Ironically i just downloaded a newer fan edit/fix of Kenobi, that made it actually a quite decent 2.5hr movie with post credit scene ane all...4k HDR 5.1... I got so excited, well OK with AI voice and art the fans can correct Disney sludge awesome!!!! I’ve been fooled into getting excited about Star Wars too many times. I paid to watch the first, second, and third sequel films. I kept my Disney+ subscription for the Mandalorian Season 3, Book of Boba Fett and Ahsoka - all of it was disappointing. I still paid for it, but I can’t take my money back. Any money it made was due to good will. How are we supposed to communicate to Disney that those movies & show are not good if they CANNOT accept legitimate criticism?
They don't really care. They're being paid by other entities to tank their own franchises in service of delivering those entities' messages. Their bread is no longer buttered by fandom. The core audience of star wars has always been male, many of whom have followed the franchise for years and are probably older in age (on average). So when you release multiple shows that are female-centric, with tired old "diversity" tropes, its no surprise that viewership goes down and interest is lost. Maybe the Acolyte will be good but as a 32 year old man, I can't help but see it as a low budget teen drama version of a generic kung fu movie, set in space...there's just no appeal there.
It’s a crap trailer that tells you nothing. This was supposed to get us excited yet it leaves us more confused……other than girl power is still in full affect. Star Wars is a franchise made for literally everyone. As a child, I barely understood the deeper themes that Lucas was teaching us. Most children like the lightsabers and fighting. It’s not until we grow up that we start to realize and appreciate how good the movies actually are. You could laugh at any fandom being upset tho.
The score is important to Star wars which sucks. The all female Star Wars and action stars is being recycled. The ip was geared towards young males and now is geared towards females might as well be Star Barbie. Young boys won't buy these toys because they have nothing to relate to. The force seems underused when we saw Vader use it in empire I never see any Jedi in these new stories use it to that extent. All in all this does not feel like Star wars. The entire show had no plot, every episode was irrelevant and did not further anything but Disney's debt.
Andor was one of the lowest rated and watched series, so you're wrong statistically.
I'm with you with the trailer looking like it might be a fun series, however, I think the problem is mostly what the production is saying, and they talking more about the identity politics and representation rather than the series plot, the setting and the characters which is what people actually care.
I would give it a fair shot when it comes out, but I'm not going to judge the series by the "Inclusiveness" Disney and the production loves to brag about, but by the quality of the content, story and character development.

I just dont get it but to each his/her own. I’m in my mid 40s. Grew up with Star Wars, got hot toys, Kenner, lightsabers…got a lot. So big fan I am. And I have to say with the exception of the Sequels and Season 3 of Mandalorian, I’ve enjoyed everything stars wars. I’ve read the high republic books and love them…some way more then most. So for me to hear that Disney killed Star Wars???? I mean again to each his own. I personally am very excited for The Acolyte.

The trailer looks cool. Some parts do look cheap but so is everything Disney. The issue I have with it is that none of the shots look like they’re in a galaxy far far away.
All I wanted was to see Luke as a grand master, rebuild the Jedi order, Mara Jade and the Solo children grow up. Disney had everything they needed to succeed. It’s a massive shame that they chose political ideology over good storytelling.

Andor had a problem of a dead side character with a finished story arc.
The rejection started with Solo, which I enjoyed for what it was (believe it or not; plus, I shat on the idea from the grip; I always said “who the hell asked for a young Han Solo film besides nobody?”), then the rejection continued into Andor, and now the Acolyte. For me, the Acolyte just looks bad. Cookie cutter bs, utterly predictable, canon-breaking/altering decisions are evident, the Jedi fight scene in the trailer just evokes the AotC Jedi battle of Geonosis (in a bad way) with too many yellow lightsabers included (thats nitpicky but that’s how I feel; the show hasn’t even come out and the yellow saber color is already no longer special; if there were once so many yellow sabers around, why are there none to be scene in the prequels, especially considering your saber colors is contingent upon your relationship with the force itself?). It just looks a bit like an edgey, wannabe Star Wars dei comic come to life shoehorning in a story in a period of time that has no business possessing said story.

You don't have to meet expectations from fans. You need good stories and characters like Rogue One that proves that Star Wars is on the right track.
And don't talk about it and hope that it gets better. If you are disappointed often enough you will eventually realize the reality that hope is another word for delusion.
I also thought the Acolyte trailer was good… and I have the same trepidation for what is to come. I just want them to tell a good engaging story where the story is the priority and it doesn’t feel like a mechanism for delivering an agenda.
I am not any kind of -ist, I couldn’t care less what the director’s personal persuasions, activist causes, or pronouns are. I wish her the best and happiest life ever. I just hope she tells a good story that belongs in the Star Wars universe and leaves the IP out of the culture war. I just want to be engaged in a quality story.
My concern so far, and what has been marketed and highlighted- is that I know more about the director and lead actress’s views on sexual preference and gender views than I do about the story or something unique about the show’s content or how it was made.
It’s the show content that will bond fans together, win more fans, and get the recognition that both Star Wars and Disney needs. It will be the show that I hope it to be if most of the media, articles, and discussions afterwards are about the Star Wars story they tell. If instead it’s about what the directors and actors choose to do in their free time, or the % count of representation of the cleanup crew, then the story wasn’t good enough and it’s time to rethink things…again.
Attack of the Clones & ROTS didn’t even win the box office the years they came out. There’s only been a couple periods in history when SW was the biggest brand. 1977-82, 1999, and 2015-16. That’s not a lot of championships

I’ve been fooled into getting excited about Star Wars too many times. I paid to watch the first, second, and third sequel films. I kept my Disney+ subscription for the Mandalorian Season 3, Book of Boba Fett and Ahsoka - all of it was disappointing. I still paid for it, but I can’t take my money back. Any money it made was due to good will. How are we supposed to communicate to Disney that those movies & show are not good if they CANNOT accept legitimate criticism?

I think the real issue with Andor was that it was boring. I can respect they tried to do something different, but I agree with Josh and I just didn’t have fun watching it. It really is an amazing show. And do find it hard to understand why some fans don’t like it. It is slower (some might say boring) but I cared more about those characters and was more on the edge of my seat than any of these crap shows about established characters.

And the trailer doesn’t seem to track with what canon says the Sith of that time were about. It should be corporate board rooms and high society, not caves and backwater planets. For me Star Wars needs new ideas or something. I’m tired of the whole Jedi vs Seth rehash over and over again. Stop trying to for everything together. It feels like they trying to connect pieces to a puzzle they have no idea how to solve and it’s just not getting anywhere. Jump 1000 years in the future and try something different that’s not tied to previous canon.
The fight scene was legit trash, the lightsabers and costume designs just feel cheap and certain shots aswell I get the bikers out vibes from certain scenes and the dialogue. And nothing hedlin has said has done anything to help this show out. And a new coven of powerful witches like we have never scene the nightsisters

Leslie was clear... its a show designed to represent queers (LGBTQ+)... especially queer children... and she intends to develop characters that empowers queers and tells their story... all while wrapped with a diverse cast. Women will be powerful and men, especially white men... weak. Good vs evil.... gone. In its place, those who act badly have a reason. Everything is about power and the desire to have the most. Women will rule. Jedi will be good and bad. The Sith good and bad. Only women can bring peace via their strength and domination.
There you have it. The trailer starts from moment one panning its diverse (except white men). It starts with youth, most of which are women, starting their journey on how to obtain power. Later, in the preview, grown powerful women are shown dominating everyone. The story will hinge on lebian and trans relationships where they rule.
Definetly is not Star Wars. Will not be liked by most and it likely bombs badly. Understand, they could have just made up their own story. They didn't. From their view, they need to destroy the essence of Star Wars, and its core principles. They are calling this Star Wars so they can flush what it stood for down the toliet.

The core audience of star wars has always been male, many of whom have followed the franchise for years and are probably older in age (on average).
So when you release multiple shows that are female-centric, with tired old "diversity" tropes, its no surprise that viewership goes down and interest is lost.
Maybe the Acolyte will be good but as a 32 year old man, I can't help but see it as a low budget teen drama version of a generic kung fu movie, set in space...there's just no appeal there.
It’s a crap trailer that tells you nothing. This was supposed to get us excited yet it leaves us more confused……other than girl power is still in full affect. Rumor episodes will run roughly 30 minutes which means it will seem short as well. Should have been a movie instead of an episodic adventure that leaves us wanting more every week

Star Wars is a franchise made for literally everyone. As a child, I barely understood the deeper themes that Lucas was teaching us. Most children like the lightsabers and fighting. The score is important to Star wars which sucks. The all female Star Wars and action stars is being recycled. The ip was geared towards young males and now is geared towards females might as well be Star Barbie. Young boys won't buy these toys because they have nothing to relate to. The force seems underused when we saw Vader use it in empire I never see any Jedi in these new stories use it to that extent. All in all this does not feel like Star wars. This is why Dune 2 is a successful . They are gearing this ip towards a fan base that is not there.
