    Thank you for a great tutorial on removing not only gel polish, but prepping the builder gel to receive another coat or 2 for fills. I so appreciate the fact that you only use the drill for the tips and the gel polish above the builder gel, but then you switched to the hand file for the rest to make it smooth and save the natural nail. You definitely know what you're doing! Great job! And for those having an issue with why she put the new gel polish so far from the cuticle, understand that true gel nails with gel builder and/or gel polish are different from any regular or acrylic manicure. Gel, whether polish and/or builder gel, lifts when it touches skin, which can lead to infection and also ruined manicures. It also moves as it cures under LED/UV light. You can use peel off liquid latex and latex tape to get closer, but without those, you must leave a barrier. What she showed in the video was textbook perfect.

    you should try a carbite or ceramic bit to remove the color, provides almost no heat and does the job so much quicker :D love the videos

      The sanding band is only supposed to be used to either buff the nail plate or to remove ridges in the acrylic or gel. Not to remove color and the reasons is exactly what you said it can burn your client. Carbide bits are expensive yes but they are a necessity to do the job correctly and quickly. I mean no disrespect at all I am just trying to help you. The ceramic ones are more expensive but they do the same job as a metal on they just last longer without dulling out. Good luck.

      Totally agree with u I would never use that for removing nails. That hurt by burning I love the ceramic ones.

    i think the distance from the gel to the cuticles is to big..they look like a one week gel nails.

      Andreea It's always like that when you refill. Done it on professionall nail salons and it's still a distance.

    • @wrokgoddess
      @wrokgoddess 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Birdy Love that's why she never has lifting because she doesn't get too close to the cuticle. Also if your product is to close you can Nick the cuticles with the file or drill and ouchie it hurts better off to leave a little bit of a distance just a tiny little line..

    • @fec9496
      @fec9496 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Beatrice Es no its not always I'm in vacation here in Mexico now. They do pretty close to the cuticle I wish You Tube allows to post pic to show you, looks way more natural... anyways I think it depends the place we live...

    When you apply the primer (bonder) do you cure it before applying the clear gel? Also does it matter if you get primer on the cuticle? Will it cause lifting? Or do you wipe it off cuticles to avoid lifting? Love your work. So natural looking.

    Hi there i have started using the brand Ibd for my nail extensions. And i saw in one of your videos that you primed and dehydrated. Does it matter what order you do it in? one final question :) the primer kind of leaves a non dehydrated look, where as the dehydrator visibly leaves the nail looking dry. So should i use primer first, or just stick to the dehydrator?
    if all that made sense ^^
    thank you kindly

    I went to NDED website to look at the curvature nails, I think the curve looks so much better. Now when I was on there site I didn't see the English language version so I can see exactly how much it cost. Please if you can send description of the item you bought or can you recommend where I can purchase the natural and clear nails.

    I liked your video! I'm brand new at nails, so I've been watching as many as I can... I was wondering once you push back the cuticles and dead skin how do you get it off? So far all of my clients have bad cuticles and for some it's the first time ever getting anything done to them. I want to try to educate them about their cuticles, do you have any idea or suggestions for me? Thanks for the video... I also subscribed to your videos.

      Don't snip with scissors. It causes damage. After you push the cuticle back, use the v shape cuticle remover. It's a tool with a v-shape end. You glide it along the cuticle bed and it takes off old skin, but not new as long as you don't push too hard. The cutters and scissors will leave blood. Been there done that.

      Hahah sometimes!
      i do it both ways :D but this way the nails feel so much softer!
      and if this was glitter instead of red color- it would make a huge difference wether it was made this way or after filing:) (its a lot softer!!)

    Time wise how Lin does it take you to do a full set of gel from the beginning? && how much time does it normally take you to do a full on a set of gel nails??? Also is your gel self leveling I see you just paint it on versus some say do it the stringy way if that make sense. Do you find there to be any difference besides personal preference?? TIA

    Why do you shape the nail after applying colour? Why not remove colour, building up the nail and shape the nail. And finish it with a colour?

    • @NailsByKatieDutra
      @NailsByKatieDutra 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sometimes the color can bulk up the nail and make the shape look not as nice, when you build and shape after color its called the embedding technique. Its really the techs personal preference and depends on what brands/colors the tech uses. Some gel colors are made to be embedded while others are thin and are made to go on top the the finished nail shape.

    • @KD-hr3iq
      @KD-hr3iq 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also if you are using cheap gel colors some have very bad adhession and putting them inbetween builder gel layers helps them to last a lot longer then they would if you’d put them on top.

      I was wondering the same thing... as the stress area moves during growth wouldn't you need to build that back up again? I'm still studying this in my course so maybe I'm wrong somehow...

    When you file after you have done the color gel, can you do this with all gel polish? I never did because I thought it would remove the gel color

    Great job!!
    You tend to get the machine hotter to burn with less rpm's in a electric nail filer or drills. When you press down on the nail if it stalls and slows down or stops that is not enough rpms to do tougher/harder nail filing jobs. I like 30,000 rpms. Less chance of burns if it works good. It looks like on the baby finger nail shot, it looks like gel nail over white extensions showing through the gel longer nail. I didn't know one can build fake nails over fake nails. It can''t be her real nail underneath. Nobody's nails have such white tips unless painted tips, but that would not have been as the painted tips would have had to been sanded off first. I'm confused of the gel over fake nails.

      Harry Potter I clean them with 96% isopropyl alcohol or (if I don’t have the alcohol) polish remover. Works really well, because it removes the sticky layer.

    • @tracyfoster3391
      @tracyfoster3391 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      your base gel is exactly that, it goes on the bottom it provides the dispersion layer needed to add your build gels, I need a builder gel as my nails are very flat and I need it so I can build a beautiful shape and protect the stress line, I'm sure it has another name but I've a raging wisdom tooth ache and its affecting brain function aha, there are some great videos showing different techniques on here with practice you will find which one is best for you good luck xx
