My S24U arrived a few days ago. I traded in my S23U. I'm in love with the new 5x lens. The screen on the S24U makes my S23U look like LCD when put side by side. I'm really happy with the upgrade.
@RGAMEPLAYS123 it's not the resolution that makes it so good. It has a new anti-reflective screen that makes blacks look blacker and makes it easier to view in sunlight. It is also a lot brighter. 2,600 nits vs 1,750 on the S22U. The quality of the screen when using it in total darkness is also better. When you set the brightness really dim, the quality of the image looks better. There is a new option next to the brightens slide for setting the colour temperature of the screen automatically depending on your surrounding lighting conditions.
@RGAMEPLAYS123 don't upgrade I did from the s22 ultra because I have to but the s22u screen is 5 times better I feel like I downgraded on screen quality.
@JackHackett1 I'm actually loving it. The phone is ginormous compared to handling the 13 Pro for the last 3 years. But I don't find it uncomfortable at all. My hands aren't big enough to try one hand maneuvering with the phone, so I do have to use use two hands to bring down the notification bar and type. Other than a size comparison, the phone is so much fun to play with and customize to my liking. I miss this freedom. I don't regret the change.
@@GordisSE thank you for the reply, I may just wait to see what Apple do with the 16 pro as I heard it will be a 6.3” screen which will be a nice change. I am tempted to go back to Samsung but I’m really not sure on the size of the ultra.
Another very cool feature with the S pen is , your phone can be turned off on the table , you have something you want to remember or just jot down a brilliant idea on the spur of the moment , you grab your galaxy without turning it on and extract the S pen, tap the screen and write down your note or idea , and then just replace the S pen , your note will be automatically saved. You have to turn this feature on in the settings , my note 9 does this and also has the BT function , well most of it . You may not always use the S pen , but when you need it and it’s just there , it is super handy.
I moved from an s23 ultra to a Pixel 7 Pro because I can't stand the sharp corners of the S23 ultra but I cant deny that I love the look of the Ultra series.
Yep I pre-ordered my s24 ultra, I am pretty excited. The last time I had a phone with a sPen was the Note 2. I am waiting for my call to get my 512gb one. I already have my screen protector and Spigen case ready. I usually use the Samsung note on my s8 tab for work. so I'll be using this phone as well to take notes and all that.
Some people claim the s24 series has dull screens. I’d like to hear your take on that. A lot of people on Reddit believe it is software related, because they say it looks great while watching movies, but dull on the Home Screen. People also think it might be that the vivid setting is just not working right and will be updated soon. So ya let us know whether the screen looks vibrant to you or not! And I did buy one. S24 ultra sky blue I can’t wait to get it February 14th!!!
Honestly I'm probably a bad person to judge, I dont have am S23 ultra or 23 to compare it against. I think it looks great but I dont have a lot of experience with these devices to say it looks better or worse than previous models.
I was so excited to see this review up and your initial impressions of the phone. I too preordered the titanium orange s24 ultra and I am so excited to recieve it. Worried about the size but we will see how it goes!
Got it 2 days ago. Liking otherwise but display colors are washed out compared to my 4 year old Note20U. The issue is vivid screen mode in S24U is not as vivid as it used to be. There's barely any noticable difference is the screen between Vivid or Natural mode. Hoping Samsung could fix this with an SW update soon...
Got my S24U Friday & haven’t been able to put it down. I switched back to android after 3 years with iPhone, even upgraded to the 15 pro max, but it still felt like I was paying for the same exact phone so I hopped back over to android. Loving it a lot, but the only thing that I’m annoyed by is when I’m using the s pen and tap into a text box, the keyboard doesn’t pop up. Sometimes I have to write with the s pen before I get the pop up that lets me switch to the keyboard & I don’t understand why it doesn’t just show the keyboard every time. Also, probably a nit pick, but those security codes you get? The automatic input of those could be smoother as well. Sometimes they automatically go in when I tap the text box while other times it doesn’t so then I have to open my texts to get the code, which the google messages doesn’t let you just copy the code, it highlights the entire text. Normally these things wouldn’t bother me but after switching back to android, a lot of passwords were obviously saved with iCloud vs Samsung so I had to receive a lot of codes to sign in to stuff with my new device. But other than that it’s been so much fun being able to customize again! I’ve forgotten how to do some things but it’s been fun relearning the features.
Pulled the pin on the S24U today. I couldn't resist the $535 trade value on my old Note 10+. Now ... waiting and watching the tracking. With my luck, since I had it shipped to the office, it will show up on Friday, while I'm not there. LOL (Although, if it does, I'll get my wife to bring it home since we work in the same building.)
The saying would be doorstep, not doorstop. Love what they've done with the S24 Ultra from what I've seen. The new gorilla glass doesnt scratch at levels 6 or as much 7 anymore which is insane. That plus the fact it's anti glare. I went with the 24+, even though the glass wasnt as nice as the ultra. It just wasn't worth the extra cost for me, even after the all the discounts I got
You mentioned you have a z flip phone. I have one too and I just know this beast with sharp corners is not going to feel good in my pocket and is going to fall out of my pocket especially with some pants that have vertical pockets or short pockets. The tablet-like features of this phone are amazing but tablets and laptops are just so much more convenient for this stuff--especially if you're taking notes, in which case a keyboard will be 10x faster than writing with a pen (assuming you can type)
