A few years back I saw Pierce Brosnan making an acceptance speech (forget which event) where he kind of spoke of his making "Grey Owl" as a mistake which he regretted. I think that is a real shame. I suspect he was probably hoping the movie would make some great impact and be really famous /popular; but of course that didn't happen. This movie however really told the story well; and even though Archie was really a deceptive pipe-dreamer, he ended up telling a story that needed telling. I think in some sense a lot of us can relate to having a bit of a hidden past we don't want others to discover too. Too bad Mr. Brosnan can't take more pride and pleasure in that.
In reality he began as a BS artist, hurt multiple women and their children throughout his lifetime and ended the very same way - and trying to make hero out of this self-serving con-artist is demeaning to all worthy husbands and fathers worldwide !
Amazing acting and a really good movie. It's not about what you look like but what your soul is.
