Camino Frances Etapa 18, Ledigos to Calzadilla de los Hermanillos via the Via Trajana (Roman Road)

Stage 18 of the Camino Frances, from Ledigos to Calzadilla de los Hermanillos following the Roman Route, also known as the Via Trajana and Via Romana. We walk through Terradillos de los Templarios, Moratinos, San Nicolás del Real Camino, Sahagún and Calzada del Coto, stopping for food and drinks in several of these. The Roman variant is a particularly old and quiet part of the meseta section of the Camino Frances.

I stayed in that Alberque in Moratinos. It is SPECTACULAR! Modern, clean, and cool. (great bar) with fantastic food.

I did the section you are on two years ago except in October and conversed with some "dry land" farmers that depend on seasonal rains to water the winter wheat fields and they had no rain. He was hanging his head stating that his winter wheat crop was not to be. A lot of farmers were in the same boat.

It’s worrying. This year, I only saw Galicia and it was wetter than usual for the summer. I’m not sure how that weather has affected farming there but it’s been bad for farmers in my part of England
