OH. MY. WORD! I, too, have never seen this! and with Dinah Shore who is enjoying it so much (who wouldn't). She's such a demure divine diva in this!! What fun. Thanks so much. (Must bookmark, must bookmark.). And Ol' Red Hair is Back from 1977 is right here in the search -- So Good.

As a huge fan as I'd been when this aired, I never saw it. What a gem of an interview. Dinah recognized what us very early on die hard fans knew. Bette Midler is a treasure to the world

Dinah shore and bette milder had a beautiful friendship in the 70s and I enjoyed it but I was born in the 1987 and I can watch her show on TH-cam and enjoying it now 😅

And this is why people have loved her forever. She is the most authentic person ever in show business. When she goes, the world will be in mourning forever.

Dinah is so underrated for her quick wit and her comebacks were as good as Carson’s. And agree with everything you said.

First saw THE DEVINE MISS M at Continental Baths NYC. Barry Manilow was at the piano. Baths were just a walk across Central Park from where I lived.
An outstanding evening. Also saw her for a NYE performance at the Dorthy Chandler Pavilion, LA. A NYE to remember. CELEBRATION INDEED! Thank you for decades of great music entertainment, movies and your "social voice" Divine Miss M. "Gotta have friends"and you have millions.

      J.E. Jones, that was you?
I also remember Bathhouse Betty, back in 1972-73 it's a little vague now 😁 but I'm still here. The memories keeps me young, oh what fun. And to think all those years of fun we had nothing to worry about and now we have to deal with this.😷 Cheers!
      Stay safe.

@@billgreen1861 😁 Yes Bill..Think! Blonde, blue and fit....You were so goood.😅.....May have seen her twice.
Wasn't really " Bath Guy" but wanted to see her and it was only a 20 minute wallk thru CP. and maybe $5.l-$10..Paid over $100 to see her in LA.... Pretty much left the baths after the show although I took a peek😉 Big voyeur.... More of a Charlie's or Village type. Even knew Lou Katz a bit before he became a criminal. His life turned out to be so sad just like his buddy Roy Cohn. We'd all have dinner on Bleeker now and then....Very interesting experience for a guy just out of college..Glad you said 👋. Have a great weekend.

I saw a NYE performance at Bill Graham in SF - late 1990s I believe. No joints under the seats though. First time I saw her live was Clams on the Half Shell. I was 15 and went with my dad in his late 30s. It was us and pretty much every gay guy in NYC. What a revelation!

    • @hirsch4155

What are “baths” , you mean bathhouse? Why would a singer be at a bathhouse? Is that what I think it is? In my city a bathhouse is just a sauna or pool.

    • @johnedwardjones999
      @johnedwardjones999 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@hirsch4155 Continental Baths NYC were rather famous and many "kinds" of people went for a variety of reasons.Yes: Pool, saunas, food and "secret rooms."
Bathhouse Bette and others entertained poolside. Couple hundred all in towels sitting around the pool....She did it with Barry Manilow because it was fun and a great way to build a fan base. This was the 70s .
She was becoming rather well known..
Her appearances skyrocket her fan base.
A few years later she played sold out concert venues..I've been fortunate to have attended many concerts. One of the best was The Divine Miss M at The Dorthy Chandler Pavilion, LA on NYE in 80s. Two SOLD OUT SHOWS.
Barry in the 80s opened The sold out Pacific Amphitheater Both he and Bette attracted a diverse fan base because of talent and personality. Crowd was mostly on their feet for the whole show for both of these wonderful entertainers the night I saw them.

Sweetie, in ONE WEEK Sandra Shevey interviewed Janis Joplin, Tina Turner, Mick Jagger and John Lennon. I would have interviewed you too Bette but Warren Cowan or Dale Olson pre-empted our meeting because he said I was more preoccupied with Spencer (my then bf) than you or the show. Totally untrue. I could have done the interview in my sleep and I was so looking foward to talking to you.
