    Young people have no idea who Bing Crosby is - but he was the greatest recording vocalist of the twentieth century.

      Bing Crosby was voted the best male entertainer of the 20th century .
      Connie Francis was voted the best female entertainer of the 20th century .
      I think both Bing and Connie rightfully deserve those awards .

      Maybe in the top ten of the twentieth century.
      As a tween the local theater advertised on their sign Bill Cosby in concert as I reread it I was disappointed it didn’t say Bing. At that time I had never heard of Bill.

    Dinah is sung a little slower than they recorded it in 1931.

    The laugh-track thought Bette Midler's shtick was hysterical. Mills Brothers always great.

    Imagine, with just three networks, great entertainment like this was coming into our homes almost every night. There was so much music on TV! The teen shows like Shindig, Bandstand, Midnight Special; variety shows like Carol Burnett, Flip Wilson, Sonny and Cher; review shows like Ed Sullivan, Hollywood Palace, Kraft Music Hall; then there were the specials featuring every great entertainer of the time. The 60s and 70s really were a golden age of musical entertainment on TV.

    Funny those first words coming out his mouth.
    I did like him once but the way he treated his children from his first wife was disgraceful.

      It wasn't true what you are stating. It all comes from Gary Crosby's book and he denounced it all in the end. Gary was interested in cashing in on the Crawford biography because he was hard up for cash.

      Bing's been dead since 1977. All his kids from his first marriage are dead, some by their own hand. You're really going to hold him to account now? Who cares?

    • @peteratkinson922
      @peteratkinson922 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This has been largely discredited. Gary, his eldest son, was encouraged to write a hatchet job partly due to the success of Joan Crawford's adopted daughters book 'Mommy Dearest'.

      So Bing Crosby was GOOD FRIENDS with the Mills Brothers in the 30's. In case you did not notice, THE MILLS BROTHERS ARE BLACK!!!!!!!. There were many White talent that played the game. Sinatra Bing Martin just to name a few wanted NOTHING to do with that crapppp. They embraced ALL their American Brothers. If you had talent and could add to the show you were embraced. So YES!, Bing had Baggage , just like EVERY Other person alive then and today. That is my 2 cents

      Gary even said that what was published wasn’t what he wrote.
