Congrats on your new job!:) I've been blogging alongside my full time job for 3-4 years now and it definitely has a lot of perks. I´ve been really lucky and earned around 6000 EUR before taxes from the blog every month for the last 3 years. It has given me the opportunity to save enough to buy a flat and drive the car I want to. I have followed you for a long time (I'm Norwegian, so its cool to see bloggers that also write in their own language) and watched with horror how your traffic has suffered major downturns, really feel bad for you! Now I'm experiencing the same type of dip for the first time, with my own traffic down 70-80% after the "helpful update".. and I'm really glad I still have a "regular" job as a backup :) Its great to have two incomes; when the covid virus hit and I was temporarily laid off, the blog income helped a lot, and vica versa this time around.
Those updates really suck, and it shows why stable income is so important. Best case scenario is of course when you have both! Congrats on your initial success!
Yep, wasn't an easy decision but I think it's the better one for now. And 100% agree. I'm always pursuing more. Lots of fun but there's some peace in being happy with the norm.
Congrats. Seems like in this online thing, most "gurus" make money by talking about how to make money and not really doing what they preach cause its fucking hard. On the other hand, most people would rather buy a course than go out and actually do the work. Its been cool to see you try the different stuff over the years. All the best in your job and good luck with the websites.
Congrats on the new job! I've been grinding a 9-5 for 8 years now and been working on my escape since 2020 haha. We will both achieve our dreams eventually, just gotta keep going, adapt, and never give up.
Good luck Jasper. I can relate to your struggles. It's sometimes good to take a step back and allow yourself the space to grow your businesses again without the added pressure.
Earning a salary and purchasing a home is the most common and reliable path to financial success. The income school blogging model is no longer viable, a tiny percentage of people actually make any money. Most internet businesses are not long term options.
I am disappointed that Ricky fails to achnowledge the changes and continues to promote that business model. Many have asked for stats on his own sites to show that it still works, but he won't disclose them.
I got this answer when pressuring him to show proof of his"Project Double time" (1-year-to-$4000-blogging-income), lol: "That’s your opinion, which didn’t make it true. Here’s a lesson for you. Nobody has to do what you tell them just because you want them to. I’ll reveal my site and its successes when I’m ready. It hasn’t even been a year yet. Chill out, grow up, and take ownership of your life instead of looking for others to blame for your failures."@@captjimusfl
Brother! Same! Currently looking for a job after a year of trying to make things happen. Feeling like a failure sucks but I’m hoping to come back around. 28, with a 3rd kid on the way. Selling my home to cash out on equity and looking to relocate wherever the wind blows. Best of luck.
Congrats on the new job! It's good to see this as a positive step ahead, even if it's perhaps temporary. It's better to have a stable income and then to build up your own business again in the meantime. Do you have a full-time job now? I probably need to do the same soon, but I'm thinking about taking a job for max 32 hours so I have more time to work on my own projects. Financially, it seems doable to work less than 40 hours, unless you have very high living costs for rent and other things.
Having a job also gives a sense of purpose, routine and the chance to meet people and have some kind of social interaction. As far as these 'gurus' go, telling us how to make millions, they don't do it themselves but want to sell us a course on how to do it. Don't give up on the blog, you may have been hit by an update by the look of it, it can probably be remedied.
If all people were only chasing after their "dream hustle" not willing to do a normal job, we would all still be running around with sticks and stones... The beauty of our society is in being able to do even mundane job for the overall betterment of our society. We are just horrible at recognizing the importance of the "normal people" who are not doing the coolest thing. That being said, I don't think one needs to stop doing something fun on the side.
Hope you are doing well. We have developed a keywords research tool and its something totally different and unique in seo market. We are reaching out to you to test the tool for free and make a review video on it. Let us know if you are interested. Thanks

Definitely no longer viable. Hasn't been for some time now

I work 32 hours a week, one day off to focus on my own stuff as well!
