    On the way home from the play off final (villa vs derby) I bumped into a guy on the train who claimed he knew and worked closely with Mel Morris .
    Him and his two buddy's were laughing and joking about how sneaky and sly he'd been over the years and one day he'd get found out .
    All 3 of these guys were blind drunk and to be honest it was more entertainment value rather than if i believed them or not . It wasn't until I arrived home and watched the game that I noticed these fellas sat with Mel in the posh seats .
    For these guys to of told me what they did and in such a disrespectful, joking way .... just shows what a shoddy mess it all was

We don't all study the accounts ffs. It's ludicrous to say oh you liked him once. It's like saying you should always have stayed with your unhinged ex girlfriend.

      @paulie-g 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mattgamble7021 The difference between Darby and you is that Leicester succeeded in your gamble to go up. Leicester were sanctioned for their EFL FFP breaches afterwards, at a point when the fine was peanuts compared to the revenue they derived from being in the EPL and the EFL no longer had the jurisdiction to apply points deductions and other enforcement measures. You gambled and you won. Darby gambled and lost. Don't pretend there's a jot of difference between the two cases - both financial doping, both morally wrong.

    Sorry, bur sheer hypocrisy from Simon. He gave both barrels for Gary neville and Keane for not trashing Ole in public, but he is even worse when sticking up for Mel, almost saying how ungrateful the Derby fans are for almost ruining the club. Couple months ago he was trashing Rooney for daring to criticise Morris for not informing him about putting club in administration.

    As a Derby fan, lets not lose sight of this. We have 14 days to save our Club. One of the proud 12 founding members of this league. 138 year history. The only club in our city and as a city, we're footballing mad. If we liquidate, it will be devastating to the city. Devastating for our people. Fans that sold out every game in our record breaking worst ever season. Fans that follow us home and away, no matter how terrible we are. We have potential buyers, credible interested parties that need some reassurances before they come in. And for all that, we're going out of business. If that happens, the EFL needs to hang its head in shame.

I'm a Black Country man, and one of the first big superstars from our neck of the woods was Steve Bloomer, who's an all time great for Derby. As a Chelsea fan, I always feel very sorry for other football clubs which have gone through serious rough times. Derby County is one of the biggest clubs in English football histories, one of the leading founder members of the Football League and also a member of the Premier League in the past, the supporters of this great club have been absolutely let down by the incompetent board which are currently in place who have mismanaged this club from the top to the very bottom. The players deserve some credit for playing on and plugging away during this very troubling present period, they deserve my sympathy too. I hope that the next two weeks or so, whoever plans to take over Derby from Morris does so with the fans interests, has respect for the badge and history of the club. Just like Dale and Ashley, Morris should not be allowed to take over at another football club again, owners like this poison the life out of football clubs and the supporters who have followed them through childhood and more.

      I am afraid with an arbitral process in progress (perhaps not practically but on paper commenced 12 months ago) and the potential for a legal challenge to an arbitral award if the arbitrator's decision is ruled to have breached agreements or not having followed the rules to the letter, there is no way Mel Morris is going to go on Talksport and potentially prejudice his defence in any future litigation. Nice idea but would be bad for business and Mel knows how to do business successfully as opposed to football. Nice idea but a pipe dream.

      @@truetothegame2928 - whatever u think of Simon he has been successful in business, and over the last 20 years football has become a major business with the opportunity for large margins if correctly managed, although when Simon owned Palace it was much less developed and much more wild west. He ran out of money to fund Palace, much like Mel Morris at Derby, although it appears that Mel is alleged not to have followed the correct procedures and exacerbated the problems but he managed to find someone else with deeper pockets, unlike Mel, and for me that is some sort of success in avoiding the sorts of problems Derby have to deal with presently. Simon is also aware of the processes involved with transfers, negotiations, agents, ego's in the business of football (including his own) and some litigation related procedures. So in my opinion he has something to add to the discussion albeit I often disagree with his legal and procedural analysis and think he often lets his prejudices of people from pervious interactions and ego drive problems rather than facts and applicable laws but suggest if he was less animated / emotionally involved, as a solicitor would be, then he wouldn't still be on Talksport because that is not the entertainment people like to watch or listen to and there always need to be bad guy for the audience to dislike.
      Gabby on the other hand was a good player to watch but, at least from his appearances to date, opts to consider issues from the viewpoint of a supporter in the stadium and tends to use the sort of logic and superficial comments that you might hear in the Holte End, not typically wrong but often made without taking into consideration many of the other factors which may have a wider impact on the business of football.
      Also you need to improve your punctuation so that your writing becomes easier to understand, or alternatively use a grammar check, otherwise you represent youself as a bit of a, well I am sure you can choose the particular noun yourself.

    Morris only lost the case on appeal, I still think his way of valuing players is much better than what is deemed “right” an 18 year old on a 4 year deal having played close to 100 games isn’t worth half his value 2 seasons on. He potential is worth much more. Either meaning you re negotiate contract or sell him. We all know contracts aren’t worth the paper they’re written on. As for making noise what should fans do when threatened with the closure of their club. Fans also have no control over who buys a club.

Morris could clearly get involved with this an pay something to Gibson an Wycombe whilst reducing asking price for Pride Park but he won't because he's an egotistical madman. Not all of us liked him spending money Simon. When you look at the players an prices he brought certain players in for it was ran awfully!! The reality is that Derby took a gamble on getting to the promised land and it failed. They are not the first but hopefully might be the last. When the gamble was going on I don't remember Derby fans been up in arms about the future of the club because they had bought into the dream as well. Just as Sheffield Wednesday and other fans had also done. When the signings were happening Derby fans just like others do, were gloating about the names they were signing. Now some may say they had no idea how bad the financial situation was but the club having to sell its ground for financial reasons should have been a clue. It is also worth pointing out that when it happens to other clubs some fans gloat at their rivals downfall but when it happens to them they want special treatment.
    FFP was brought in for a reason, some have chosen to abide by the rules others have tried to bend them as much as possible to gain an advantage. For some this has now resulted in potential catastrophic repercussions. But what Derby have tried to do is to cheat and one of the reasons some clubs try to cheat is because their fans demand a seat at the top table.

    This makes me sick. At Millwall, we managed to fight off a bunch of spivs who wanted to buy the club. They were dodgy and fans worked together to expose it. Modern football is the pits precisely because it's a red light for dodgy financial models, crooked businessmen who want to offset funds that would be taxed otherwise. Note how we talk about money, not football. Football is corrupt and yet fans seem to just carry on being hoodwinked. Derby, Burnley, Watford, Bury, Darlington, etc etc. Only one model.of ownership should be allowed with fans owning 51% of every club. Kick out the casino capitalists and the 200k a week players. Let them go to China, anywhere.....

    I know Steve (Gibson) he's an honourable man.
    Hmm.......not really though is he Simon. Hounding a club about to go out of existence because he feels wronged by the person who used to own it (who now has nothing to do with the club.)
    And don't tell me it's about the principle of the thing either. The year Derby got beat in the playoff final Villa lost over £70m. So if it was about the principle he'd go after Villa. Except Villa aren't in administration. Villa can stick up for themselves. Villa can fight back. Gibson is playing brinkmanship with a club about to liquidate. 'Pay me or I'll let you go bust'. Because he knows the club can't defend itself.
    Thats not the actions of an honourable man. That's the actions of a bully.

    • @danw1086
      @danw1086 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kevrobbo77 Gibson started his action when Mel Morris was in charge. And it is clearly Morris he has an issue with, not Derby County. Read Gibson's rambling statement from last night. He's obsessed with Morris after he was called out as a hypocrite for complainimg about Derby selling their stadium to Morris's company to avoid an FFP charge when Gibson reportedly sold Boro's debts to his own company to avoid an FFP charge.
      Gibsons statement essentially says that either Derby's administrator's negotiate a settlement with Boro or he wants it to go to court. He also knows that there is no legal precedent for Boro's case. But he knows that any interested parties looking to buy Derby would be extremely reluctant to buy a club with an unresolved legal case.
      He also mentions that Mel Morris could solve the issue by basically paying him off and that Morris is guarantor on a large loan from MSD and is liable for it should the loan become forfeit due to the club becoming insolvent.
      That last part is what this is all about imo. 2 rich egotistical men having a public quarrel viewing a football club. It's employees. It's fans as collateral damage. Not as important as stroking their own egos. Neither willing to back down.
      Morris has already proven he is not honourable. But Gibson with his pettiness and his complete lack of regard for all the staff at Derby County. It's fans. All of whom have nothing to do with the situation he is angry about. His ego being stroked being more important to him than people's livelihoods prove he not honourable.

    • @danw1086
      @danw1086 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jpwartist why would that mean he is not a bully? If you're trying to blackmail a club to pay-out on a legal claim when you know they're perilously close to going bust by using the leverage of stalling their takeover from moving forwards to force then into paying out on a case realistically you're unlikely to win. Then that would seem like bullying to me. Villa got promoted the same year with a £70m loss. Why doesn't he go after them? Or Bournemouth or any of the other clubs that have got promoted whilst overspending on FFP? Because he knows those clubs are able to stick up for themselves. Whilst Derby currently cannot.
      Picking on someone who can't defend themselves is the actions of a bully.
