Tom Hanks is my favorite actor. His versatility is amazing. I have heard negative things about American actors not being as good as UK actors because they are not classically trained but I can’t think of anyone I think is a better than Tom.
One of my great joys in life is learning that as kids both Tom Hanks and I used to enjoy watching Star Trek re-runs and seeing how quickly we could identify the episode being shown.
I love the fact that Tom has had an almost annual appearance on this show since 2015 (broke the streak in 2021 but came back to reclaim his title the following year damn it) - it's gonna be interesting to see how the SAG strike will affect this show in particular if it's not resolved when it comes back
Hanks has such a reputation as Mr. Nice Guy. And well-deserved, because compared to a lot of Hollywood divas and jackasses and such, he is such a sweetheart. But as his last anecdote points out, and his message to Graham in the book, and talking to his Apollo 13 co-stars: he's just a guy. He can tell raunchy jokes, and he can lose his temper sometimes. We're all only human. But then it comes around again, that he can recognize those things in himself, find humor in them, share them with people with a laugh and self-deprecating charm. Many narcissists and a-holes with a short fuse are incapable of recognizing their own toxic traits. It takes a good person to see in themselves their own faults and foibles, and own them. So once again, more proof of what a well-adjusted, decent human being is Mr. Tom Hanks. Long and healthy life to him and his loved ones, and many more years of sharing his acting talents with all of us.

I liked him best in Bridge of Spies, how the family thought his character had gone fishing, never suspected a thing until they heard his name on tivi and the wife found him sleeping on the bed still fully clothed.🥰
I really hope there’s never any nasty scandals that come out about Hanks after he passes on in the future. I want one majorly famous person to be what we saw publicly. Not some Jekyll & Hyde psycho like often seems to be the case.

Apollo 13 is one of my top 10 favorite movies. From all the stories I've heard, it sounds like it was fun to make and everyone got along well.
