For one thing, one of the main reasons for the crusades was that there were a bunch of young nobles with no land who would be eager to join a "holy war" at the time, so instead of just letting them sit there it actually did very little to "ruin" the economy of Europe, if anything it only helped clean stuff up. On top of that, it definitely didn't ruin the reputation of European military power (although Europe didn't actually have that much reputation for military power to begin with). Crusader states like the principality of Antioch lasted for over a century and while that isn't THAT much time it is impressive considering that the land they held was surrounded from most sides by Muslim territory who had both superior numbers and logistics. The crusades as a whole weren't just some sort of massive one-sided flop like you seem to think. At the same time you may as well say that Muslim reputation was ruined by them losing all of Iberia, or by the Ottomans routinely failing to get past Hungary. Obviously the end goal wasn't set as they didn't hold Jerusalem forever and the Byzantine empire fell but even then the latter had largely to do with the crusaders themselves coming in and ruining everything.
