City of Adelaide - Rituals of Repair

UniSA Masters of Architecture Fifth Year- Studio 10 'Close Encounters'
The proposal for 'Ritual of Repair', located on Dock 1 of Port Adelaide, brings to light the process of restoration being undertaken on the City of Adelaide Clipper Ship.
Repair is not a new idea or concept however, it is an art that is increasingly dissipating in a disposable, fast paced world. The ritual of repair allows the life of miscellaneous objects which craft the everyday, to be revived and cherished again.
Through a progression of space, the oculus guides the eye from observation to enactment, from eroded histories to reinvigorated details, from the foci charred craftspace to the enveloping skylit, timberlined workshops. Progressing towards skilled craft and enjoyment in laborious repair.
