Just got back last week from Patong and it was amazing. I stayed at the LIV Hotel, a relatively new place, which is across the road from the beach, by the pier where the cruise ships come in with tourists. Excellent service and great staff. I was there a total of 12 days and for family room with 2 king size beds, including breakfast for a family of 5. It's about 15 minute walk to Jungceylon and Bangla road.............. Also if you go out the 800Baht all you can drink for 4 hours at iIluzion is excellent. Just make sure to be there at 21H00 to make the most of it.

    Amata : 25 to 45 usd/ room
    Sleep with me : 45 to 75$ / room
    Milleniium : 50 to 100 usd / room

I found the city to be sort of expensive, sort of same price as here in Sydney Australia. Anyway mate, can't wait this crazy COVID 19 is done so I can get back to Thailand! I would throw in the mix the expat hotel i stayed in in 2020. all it takes to the beach is to go through bangla road. its not luxury hotel, but has its pool a rather big bar, still in the center of everything. rooms really clean, they are taking care of it well. I even left a tip for cleaning team when i left, was impressed how they maintained the place. Also when choosing hotel, you may need to consider if its a family hotel, so no guests, then you have hotels where you can take a guest to your room for additional pay, or hotels, where single man go. expat hotel is the last category. Dating is easy in thailand, and if you want to bring a girl to your room, expat hotel is fine with it. Girls also know the place. the staff overall is very friendly, food is good and everything is walking distance basically.
