  • In todays video I will be reviewing and restyling the brand new Disney ILY Forever fashion dolls. I was actually really excited about purchasing the newest fashion dolls on the market from Disney. Boy did they disappoint, I have to say they aren't all bad, but you'll have to watch to see what the let downs for these dolls are for me. #disney #disneyily #disneyiltforever #review #restyle

    Both dolls were $29.99. I made a mistake the first time I said it. 🤣 What do you think will you guys still be picking up one?

    oH, No! He doesn't know about Disney Store hair?! Yeah, Fixing second hand Disney Store hair is close to impossible. And if you thought it was cruddy of them to use cheap polypropylene on a $30, you'll be horrified to find out that they also use polypropylene on the $150 Limited Edition Designer Adult Collector dolls, which you have to show ID to buy at the stores to prove that you are 18 years old. No ID no doll.

    I honestly think the fact that they're pretty Disney dolls is the only reason people seem to love them. Them Disney dolls been looking rough for a while and finally there's something shiny, new, and appearing to be good quality. People are eating them up because they've been starved! 🤣

    As a lover of Disney dolls, I was super excited to see these. However, when I saw them in the store, I was immediately disappointed as I realized they had polypropylene hair. You're right, for the price point, they should have used better materials. I love the inspired by Snow White and Tiana dolls. So, I will wait for a sale and pick them up.

    very much agree with your review, I think the Belle inspired doll is the stand out. I do wish that the Jasmine fashion pack didn't have so much tiger? like, yeah she owns a tiger but it just seems like they really wanted to drive that point home... hopefully you can separate the blue top underneath cuz that looked cute and it would be really cute with those pants. The Rapunzel fashion pack is super cute, I don't think $16.99 is a fair price though 😭 overall I think these dolls are a little overpriced for what they actually give you, but you're definitely paying for the Disney name and branding...
    also the hair coming out in clumps is literally unacceptable 😭

      Sadly, I've seen another review that says the bra is sewn to the sheer shirt and the Aurora stockings are sewn to the denim shorts.

    • @kattriella1331
      @kattriella1331 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The bra is sewn in and doesn't seem to have a back, but I have the shorts with stockings, and it seems like you could potentially separate them and make the stockings work by themselves if you have some decent sewing skills and the patience.

    That’s so annoying her hair fell out! For 30$ you can get a RH girl with premium long hair and high quality fashions. Other companies need to step it up!

    I can understand the frustration over the choice of poly being an issue but why a flea comb? I've yet to handle these dolls in person and have dealt with many Disney Dolls who are notorious for bad hair quality but experiences led me to never use combs or forcefully comb through their hair because it damages really easy. I used human size brushes and lightly brush through, stopping when met with resistance and brushing slowly and carefully with my fingers to prevent damaging the hair, all until brushing through has no resistance. Then I wash with conditioner and brush through, again repeating the same process. I also wish they instead used higher quality nylon like RH but even the lower grade stuff can last if taken care of. Nowadays I never use combs on a doll unless it's a quality I know won't damage easy.

    • @kattriella1331
      @kattriella1331 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you want a recommendation for a doll brush, I have a wig brush I've been using for years. It's the kind with metal bristles that don't have a plastic or rubber tip. While it would be extremely painful to use on a real person, it works wonders on doll hair.

      I sometimes use a toothpick on the parts that need detangling instead of doing it forcefully right after a boil wash like he did here... That was rough.

  • @dollsofcerise
    @dollsofcerise ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I think they're awesome! The face is the most important aspect of a doll for me, and these won me over with their cute expressions. As far as hair is concerned, I wish it was better quality but it isn't a deal breaker for me. My RH Ainsley, for example, shed hair like crazy after a gentle wash (no hot water, no combing) and her face was full of defects and missing paint on her lips. And she was a lot more expensive than these dolls. So, yeah it is disappointing to see so much shedding but I've seen it before in more expensive dolls. I loved that you were totally honest though (you don't see that often on YT).

  • @queenjellys_toybox
    @queenjellys_toybox ปีที่แล้ว +3

    It’s totally okay to not like the dolls. Not every doll is for everyone. I’m not trying to criticize or be negative at all.
    But yeah, you definitely need to be a Disney fan to enjoy these dolls. They are definitely aimed at a specific demographic. Your points are valid. But so are the opinions of the people who like them. A few quality issues are there and I will not say they are not. But these are more for the style then they are for a “basic” doll. Unlike RH/SH that’s ‘just a doll’. These have a lot more attached to them. So I agree. If you just want it because it’s another doll to collect they may not be the best. But if you like/love Disney or the characters that they are playing off of, I think they are good.

  • @Crystal-nz8gb
    @Crystal-nz8gb ปีที่แล้ว +43

    They are cute… but for the price and quality it’s a probably no for me. They don’t have a fantasy hair color polypropylene hair is just lazy and cheap😢. It’s ironic that the same people that bash the new Shadow High dolls for not having a second outfit are singing these dolls praise for having inset eyes, even though they have less accessories that are cheaper looking as well as the clothing not being as well built. If they were a fifteen dollar doll maybe they be more desirable but at double the price. Did Mattel make these dolls? Wouldn’t surprise me.

    i haven't been interested in Disney dolls since the mid 90s. This is the first time in a very long time that i have been impressed by and excited for any kind of new doll. My very special favorite out of this first wave (i somehow feel like they will be coming out with more of these dolls) is the Snow White-inspired doll.
    They're all very cute, but i am completely taken with Snow White.
    i especially appreciate how they look like 3D printouts of human Pixar characters. i feel like i am being pulled into the Disney universe when i look at the eyes.
    The clothing and accessory packs are verily charming as well. i feel like the creative team at Disney thought of practically everything!
    Hearing about the quality of the hair is somewhat disheartening, but not at all shocking.
    Thankfully, i do not plan on doing ANYTHING with the hair once my doll arrives.
    i think the silver lining there is that we now have so many re-rooting options in the doll community.
    It's just that it shouldn't even be considered when it comes to dolls made by big toy companies like Disney, Hasbro or Mattel.

    I really don't like the name of this line... It's as weird to say as Barbie BMR1959. I love their faces but the polypropylene hair is unacceptable. To me the doll inspired by Snow White is the best deal. Belle's dress looks super cheap.
    The falling out hair 🤯 The same thing happened to my Krystal so I had to put glue in her head. Otherwise she'd be bald

    • @peaceloveplastic
      @peaceloveplastic  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yep! The reality is they just they aren’t comparable to other dolls on the market. I’d argue barbie extra is doing better than these as far as price to quality ratio. ✌🏾❤️

      Oh no, Krystal.
      I am so overwhelmed with incessant new releases from all bloody brands, I will thrift only this year except for a tiny number of exceptions I really love. I have seen these dolls in the Disney store and yes, they are cute but I don't think I really like them to the point of buying one especially full price.

  • @mydollydiary

    I think your review is negative for a good reason. Everything you said was very true. I think there’s just a hype about these new dolls and the fact that they’re Disney makes it very enticing, but the price point is being overlooked in a lot of reviews. As cute and fun as they are, their quality isn’t worth $30 especially when you compare them to other dolls. I’ll be very excited to get them on sale though!

    • @peaceloveplastic

    I don;t think the fashion pack are too badly price at $16-$17 cuz MGA charge $10 for just shoe and bag. Mattel barbie fashion pack are $10 for less detail and mostly print on so $17 isn;t too bad. Still wish it was closer to $12-$15 but still acceptable. The doll now are way overprice. $30 is too high since the hair is polypropylene and just not enough for $30. I would say $20-$22 max is a decant price. I do think the detail are amazing (like the book opening ) and these are decant doll. Being a Disney fan and a doll fan, I would say they are averge, 7/10 for a doll line. Beside the hair and prices, the detail are pretty good.

    Mmmm the cheapness of the hair definitely makes me think I was on the right track thinking about picking up either the Belle or Snow White dolls. I'm not picky about keeping dolls in box for their Value, I like to leave them in box because I'm afraid that I will personally mess them up somehow (and I hate how doll packaging requires you to completely destroy the box to remove them from the box), and while I really like the Belle doll and especially her face sculpt, like you said, I'm Also not a fan of the dress, I think it looks nice with the jacket but it isn't displayed with the jacket in the box, so I'd be tempted to remove it.

  • @DoveJS
    @DoveJS ปีที่แล้ว +3

    That's truly disappointing! After seeing a couple of other reviews and yours, I think everyone saved me a lot of money. I mean, I was already waiting just because I knew I couldn't get any of them right now but I was excited to find out more through reviews and planning to buy at least one doll and/or some of the packs when I could. Then the little things just kept piling up even before this and poor Cinderella's hair issues were the last straw for me as well, so thank you for being extremely honest and talking about the issues that you had with them.
    I instantly wanted them because I'm a Disney geek and the inset eyes reminded me of the Juku Couture dolls (I have Jun and although they all have the same face mold, which is why I only bought her back then, I kinda wished I'd gotten more before they went out of production) so I was tickled at the thought of getting her another big sister/cousin (I have an 11" anime doll with printed eyes that looks very similar lol.) So of course I was thrilled to see how big the line-up was at the start and that every doll had a unique face mold and little details, like the freckles on Snow White (I'm a sucker for freckles.) But I was already getting kind of iffy about the limitations of their joints (wrists and head don't move much and they can't sit very well) and I guess now if I do get any of them, it's going to be the Belle or Snow White inspired doll since their hair hopefully wouldn't come out or need too much combing and I love them a lot (freckles!) Though I also wasn't super impressed with the dress; I like the style but I prefer having mix and match options so Snow White is higher on my list even though I love Belle and I love the doll inspired by her. I also really loved the Tiana and Ariel themed dolls but if they're going to have the same issues Cinderella did then I just can't justify the cost, even on sale. I still might get some packs however I'm getting iffier on that and now IDK about the dolls. I guess I could do what MyFroggyStuff did with one and put the head and feet on a Made to Move body (and I love MtM so much when I have to majorly cut back that's my default "only this doll line" type of doll.) But that's also annoying since Mattel decided to make the various MtM exclusive to certain stores and the resellers are still kind of rampant urgh. Plus it defeats the purpose of spending $30 dollars on the doll IMHO; if they're gonna be pricier than a Signature Look playline doll at retail price they better have at least Barbie Extra articulation or MGA level articulation.
    Especially now that I know they do have some quality control issues here and there (understandable if it's small stuff) and I understand cutting costs throughout the line in various ways though I didn't expect that initially. Unfortunately a lot of the price is probably the cost of branding... it's the Disney Store BUT unless they have a factory of their own, which I doubt, they've got to be hiring some other company (most likely Jakks Pacific) to produce it and just slapping the Disney Store name on it... kinda like a grocery store slapping their name on food made by the same company and selling it for less lol but in this case Disney is charging more because the Disney branding, art, and marketing costs more while the generic branding, art, and marketing costs less. It's so weird though since obviously Mattel and Hasbro were vying for the right to buy the branding so they could put out the official play dolls under their own company name yet Disney also has to hire someone else (unless it's part of the agreement with buying the rights...?) Manufacturing is a confusing thing!
    Also, sorry for such a long comment, but given the cheap hair and semi-poor joint designs, I wonder if this means the inset eyes might change colors over time? You said Belle had kind of a purple tint to her eyes which might be on purpose but for example I remember hearing how the original run of Hearts for Hearts (I followed a doll blog for several years, I go in and out of hobbies in phases, partially dependent on tight budgeting) had dolls with brown eyes turning purple... just something about the color pigment light-fastness I guess? I've had Jun in storage for some time but even before then she didn't see the sun much so no idea atm how her eyes have faired but I'd be okay with that lol since she's kind of a fanciful doll.
    Oh, one last thing! I wish I'd found you a year or two ago. I got rid of my two MLP plushes partly because I needed to free up some space in my plush collection and I needed the cash but also it was such a pain to try and maintain their hair... I was using a metal comb and did find a blog with tips about this but gave up since I just don't have the patience to meticulously comb them, realizing it might need to be done every week or month and still might be a chore because of constant tangles. If your solution was as simple as it looks and decreased the time it takes to tame cheap locks, I might've kept them. (lol but that's not on you at all. I'll definitely have to look around your YT channel for more info since I have a thrifted doll with beautiful but disgustingly greasy hair which hot water couldn't clean so you can probably help me save her. And if not, she just can't be saved and might need rerooting if I can ever get off my butt to try that. My lack of patience is my downfall when it comes to a lot of creative but slow, time-consuming hobbies.) 😂
    Anyway, thank you to anyone who read my rambling. ☺

    For some international perspective: where I live, the Mattel and MGA stuff is twice the USRP in stores. They don't go on sale for less than 1,5 times the USRP. Even if they've been on shelves for 3 years. Very annoying. The fashion packs and accessory packs from this line are more worth it than the Barbie fashion packs or the upcoming RH single fashions. The dolls though... I mean... 30 smth euros compared to 50 for a Barbie Extra (to use a similar number of things you get with one doll).... you do the math.

    I think they got the memo about giving them poly hair because the newer ones have Saran if im not mistaken, its a lot because i must say. They also don't have the extra k ee articulation and they no longer have the inset eyes (im guessing thats because they gave them extra outfits now so they had to cut back somewhere) . I honestly think the line is sooo adorable and i love they (outside of s1 having that horrible poly hair) but the faces are so adorable and endearing to me. My favorites are the inspired by Belle and Snow White from the first series. Id looove to see someone reroot them (hint hint lol) im not saying no names or whatever lol just putting it out there ya know (wink wink)😂

    Im not a huge fan of disney, so the biggest pull for me is the nameless faces they have. theyre very cute tbh. but they need more diversity, i dont want just one of each race😅 i would like to see a white girl with dark hair.

    I neeeed them to have better quality hair and more “glam” outfits for me to want them. Their body articulation, face molds and inset eyes are great but hair is a huge deal to me 😭

    Why show the articulation if you don't show how the doll looks when she sits.

    I think your review was not honest enough .....
    The articulation of these dolls is just mediocre to awful .
    Mediocre is the upper body , I with they would have double jointed elbows also they got not the upper torso joint like many other dolls got .
    Awful is the lower body , they sit very strange (you need to search a video , it's hard to explain) it's impossible to put them in a doll car or doll bath tub .... the double knees are nice , but almost meaningless if they are not able to sit nice in a chair .
    One other thing nobody is talking about is the balloon , the shape is weird and why is the backside flat ?
    And why are so many little staples that fix the clothes in the boxes ... I'm sure no one of the creators has try to remove all the little staples from the furry jacket of the Tiana inspired doll .... it's a horror , lol
    I have paid 66 Euro for 2 dolls (with free shipping) at the Disney Store and was not happy with the bad articulation ... the regular price for a Barbie Looks doll or Barbie BMR1959 is from 23 to 30 Euro . These Disney Store dolls should be at least at the same quality .
    Btw , Disney sells them direct at the own website , there is no other store in between that earns money ... that means that the customers pay even more for the mediocre quality .

    i don’t know if you realized this while handling them but THEY CANT EVEN SIT DOWN!!! i have one of those dolls and i love her but jesus christ she can barely sit at a 45 degree angle at most. it’s egregious honestly, especially when thinking about how kids play with dolls

    Am I the only person who thinks dead eyed Liv dolls when I look at them? Seriously, why can't they bring life to those eyes? MGA manages it with RH/SH. Even Barbie decal eyes look more alive. Don't get me wrong, I actually liked Liv dolls back in 2012 or whenever it was, but here we are 11 yrs later, can't Disney do better? Other lines do eyes better.

    The most disappointing thing about these dolls is that they have the deer in headlights look in their eyes. Makes them look quite vacant.

    Yikes... Nothing like self-annointed "doll restylers"🙄. I'm almost afraid of your styling tips. Boiling water on an inset eyes and forcefully detangling soaking hair with a comb instead of gently detangling them when they're slightly damp... Plus your not-so-very-original idea of soaking doll hair in a mix of a fabric softener and hair conditioner is actually terrible for the doll hair, especially knowing that they're polypropylene. Fabric softener should always be the last resort and used only on a well-loved ratty hair 'cause (surprise, surprise) it can make doll hair crumble and fall out - exactly what has happened here. The same thing goes for conditioner - oils in them damage doll hair in the long run, especially when mixed with the softener.
    I've handled the same doll's hair with using a tiny bit of non-oily shampoo, a quick rinse in hot water with her face covered (and not near the head area to protect the eyes). I've detangled her hair after a while of drying with a small wig brush and a toothpick on the tangled strands and used a tiny bit of a water-based styling paste to finish it. There wasn't much of a hair loss and she looked great.
