    Due to the popularity of this video, I decided to visit another Local Japanese Arcade called “Space Shuttle”.

    I could be there everyday and never get bored. Used to hang out in arcade back in early 2000's all the time when I was in my early 20's. It was a place where I can go and relax and not worry about what's going on in the world.

    I'm so glad some old arcades still exist in Japan. Lived in Japan from 1991 to 2001, possibly the boom arcade years where there was a game center in almost every corner. These days they are mostly gone. Places like this is like traveling back in time.

    The sight of an amusement arcade sends pleasant shivers through me. I remember the smell still: a mixture of Mr.Sheen, bubblegum and cigarette smoke.
    If I'm going to be picky, the cabinets looked a bit uniform, but that's of course to save space.
    At the age of 43, I finally got into fighting games.

Even if there’s only a couple cabs, they’ve got a really wide variety of old games as well as some indies such as Skullgirls and Akatsuki Blitzkamf. Really disappointed my local Round 1 doesn’t have any, and the fighting game section it did have shrunk dramatically since it opened.

    Theres a bar/arcade in my area in the USA that has these japanese style blast city cabinets. Theyre so legit but the people have broken the joysticks and buttons on the two machines I used. I fired up Street Fighter 3, 19xx, and Gigawing. The screens looked amazing.

    • @netdoll
      @netdoll ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fighting game cabinets in Japan are linked so that there's one player on each side, as opposed to the head to head setup which is common overseas. Some overseas arcades also have a similar setup if they import cabinets (I saw Astro Citys with 3S and MvC2 in this configuration when I was touring an arcade recently in Chicago)

    • @Miikkkaelmon
      @Miikkkaelmon ปีที่แล้ว

      @@netdoll Thanks for the very informative response👍. Fun to see that these old types of gaming is still a somekind of culture ( maybe it is a big culture still, i am not a arcade gamer)

    • @netdoll
      @netdoll ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Miikkkaelmon It's really cyclical I think, a lot of the old Showa era game centers in Japan are closing every week but at the same time the diehard fans will never let it truly die out and to my eye at least overseas there has actually been something of a resurgence of interest over the past decade or so, particularly around the polymath rhythm gamers who branch out into things like TGM, shooting games, and vs puzzlers like Puyo as well.

      I also want to make another correction. In Japan, this game is called Street Fighter Zero 3. In Japan, it was known as the Zero series, but in USA was known as the "Alpha" series. They are both the same identical games, just different name versions for the specific region.

    • @RetroMoments

      Yea Ive noticed most arcades in American and Europe using some kind of emulation.

    • @netdoll
      @netdoll ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are definitely using actual PCBs, the record holders would notice and complain if they didn't since outside of any legality concerns, emulation is not particularly good for (among others) the 3rd generation Cave hardware shown in the video. This game center and its sister one Q2 is kind of legendary in shooting game circles for being where most of the records in the Nagoya area are set (IIRC CUE is also around there somewhere?)
