Love this project. I am in a book club and we all play a lot of golf. These work great as a magnetic hat clip. Same concept as placing this on your book pages but instead place it on your hat and then simply place your ball marker on the magnet. It is so much better than metal on your hat which causes RUST on your hat. Great video!!!
Take a couple of 1 inch tall pvc pipe pieces just large enough to place over the magnets and then place a weight over them. Leave until the glue dries and you will have a very crisp mold around the magnets.
I was just thinking about making some of these and I found your video! 😀 Love these simple projects, especially when they have a pattern included! Thanks for the tips to make the project go smoothly.
If you make the ends a little bit larger, you could designate an "outside" for the end result and add a stamp to the ends as well. They're a bit to small for much of a consistent tooling, but I've got a few stamps that would look pretty good on the ends, especially with the right dye and seal
One of the main things I've seen in his videos lately...OK you have the link to the site but there's 3 weights...wish he'd say what the weight is in the beginning of the tutorial
My apologies to both of you. It's the 2-3oz leather. I'll make a point of at least getting a graphic on screen in the future showing the weight of leather I'm using. Just know that I've got finished videos waiting to be released all the way through April. So, it'll be a little while before you see that change.
Where do you get the super strong magnets? I had a request for one for Christmas gift. Made it with the strongest magnets i could find at hobby lobby. Used 2-3oz veg tan(she wanted daughter's initials on it). When i was done, the magnets barely stuck together when folded.
I use eBay to get my magnets. I think the strongest I’ve seen had a pulling force of 180kg (nearly 400lb). I use a variety of much less powerful magnets for pocket closures on the bags I make but I like this idea. You could shift a lot of these at craft fairs
I don't think that hobby lobby really carries anything intended for going through other things. Magnets are a pain in the rear to find the correct ones that work through other materials without damaging them. While not leather related, had the same kind of thing go wrong with a gundam model kit I was working on where the magnets I wanted to use rather than pegs didn't work through the photo etch pieces I was using.
I’m having this exact problem. Just made one to test it out. 2-3oz leather. My magnets i got off amazon. 15mm x 2mm. I wonder if i should move up to 3mm thick. Did you happen to find something that worked?
Thank you for catching that, the ones used in the video were the flat chisels: www.weaverleathersupply.com/products/1-8-flat-chisel-set-4pc?_pos=1&_psq=flat+chise&_ss=e&_v=1.0 We will make that change on the materials list

Great tip! Thankyou
Great project to use up leather scraps too!

Simple and easy!
Simple and great looking. Thanks Daniel!
Thank you, Daniel. I enjoy your video's.
Really like this one, you could shift a lot of these at craft fairs
Great video, and I thought the same with the wing dividers and magnets. Lol
Nice beginner project. 👌🏻👍🏻
The background music is beautiful! What's the name, please? Thank you for the demonstration.
I use Epidemic Sound for all the music in my videos.

Good idea. Thanks
What weight of leather are you using?

I made three of those recently and I had to redo two... coz I forgot to check the polarity and the bookmark did not close :)
😆 I've been there with other projects.
How much of thickness does it cover before it falls? N i always wondered how strong the magnets are. Looks nice
I couldnt find a link for the magnets. They are not with the other supplies. Thanks!

Hey there, nice job. What is the thickness of the magnet you use? There are magnets of 1mm thickness till 3mm and more.
Great video
I just bought clicker dies for round keychains that might work perfect for this!
Nice...whats the thickness used in the video? ty
2-3 oz.
Were those the same diamond chisels you used, the ones listed on the website?
Thank you for catching that, the ones used in the video were the flat chisels: www.weaverleathersupply.com/products/1-8-flat-chisel-set-4pc?_pos=1&_psq=flat+chise&_ss=e&_v=1.0
We will make that change on the materials list
Thank you
Keep getting requests for these
So easy to make! And a great project to use up scraps!
💗
Love it🧵
