Ratty telling Mokko the little Coco plant wasn't gonna bare enough and being right about it, then Mokko showing him and Matthew that you can count how many tubers should be in the ground and then Ratty noticing the biggest Coco first appeared to be the smallest is a perfect snapshot of why I and I'm sure many other watch this channel.

I miss Jamaica so much!! Ackee, breadfruit, spinners, fresh coconut milk, chocolate tea, coco, dashine, pumpkin, broad beans, Gunga pea, +++. I hope to return some day. Give thanks for the sharing. It would be nice to see Moko with a bigger pot and pan for sharing. I never see him share with the girls on the property, his kids and Durret. Sometimes with Ratty, but many times he has said its just for you and himsrlf. I overstand the difference in some of the culture, but it would be nice to see a big yard style pot for a big yardy dinner sometimes. Be well. And bless your steps forward Matthew.

Because most rural people survive by the bush. Working for someone else is actually a relatively new concept, despite our colonial history. The only way to survive/eat is to get it from the land. So most traditional families tend to have a grung aka farm, which is often deep in the bushes & away from the home.
The machete is then a compulsory tool. You use it whack bushes away as you descend into the woods. Once there you are “weeding” all day to maintain the farm, as traditionally we don’t use herbicides. You use it to dig holes & plant things. To chop fruits off the tree. To chop & maintain trees , shrubs & vines. We’ve only fairly recently started cooking with gas. Traditionally the machete would be used to chop the wood needed for daily cooking. Etc
It’s sadly a dying way of life, as modern men want fast money, don’t want to look “dirty” (farmers traditionally looked unkempt from working with the earth all day).. & the women don’t want to get their long artificial nails dirty. 😞
It’s only the older folk like Mokko that’s holding the tradition. Once they go, the country will be in trouble as no-one is left to feed the people. It’s actually approaching national crisis level at this point. The government are implementing measures, but largely the youth do not find farming an attractive way to earn a living because it’s looked down on as dirty, low level work.

Is there room to build a paddock for the goat’s? It doesn’t have to big really big just room for them to walk/run around without being tied to a tree.
I would be happy to help by funding the cost of material’s if you guy’s want a corral with a little fenced in outdoor area for them?
