    Working on a friends 2011 Dodge Caliber, thanks for a great video and explaining this process in depth. I think the best tip was to put the key and switch in the Acc position !! Best tp you !

    Thanks for posting this. Great instructions. I've been looking for 2 days for this info for my 04 Grand Cherokee Limited. Never have messed with ignition "innards" before and until today, had never heard of an Ignition Switch Actuator Pin. Not sure if my problem is the ignition switch, or the actuator pin so I'm going to just replace both. Jeep will be 19 yrs old next week, replace both and I wonk have to worry about either again. My ignition problem is that something in there just failed completely. There is no longer any indent clicks when the key turns forward. Just smooth turn all the way to what should be start, but, no power to anything in the dash like normal. Still clicks back to ACC, but no power there either. Thinking it pretty much has to be the ignition switch that failed as the various "clicks" to power on and Start are no longer clicking or powering on.
    Question: I see that the actuator pin comes with a separate spring. Why? Where the heck does that spring go? Guess I'll have to look at the old on and use it for a template.
    Thanks again. You probably saved me a lot of time and money at the shop as I'm now pretty sure I can fix it myself now that I have a pretty good idea of what to do!
    Thanks again.

    This exactly what's happening to my 02 Caravan. I was able to start the van with a screwdriver, just as you did. My problem now is that I cannot find an a replacement Ignition Actuator Pin anywhere :( so I'm stuck.

    Need help in snapping the Pin to the switch. I have a 2004 pt cruser, limited. Everytime I try to snap on the actuator pin in the ignition switch, it pops off the other end of the pin (as if the switch well is not deep enough). I aligned the arrows properly (I think) and it keeps popping out of the socket. Please help.

    I have a 2006 pt cruiser which my dashboard flickers like crazy and the rpms temp and speedometer go low and stay at the bottom. today when I was going to drive it it flickered then turned off. after trying to start it wouldnt start at all. then at times it does start but then turns off after 5 seconds. I been reading that it might be the ignition switch. what are the symptoms of an ignition switch failing? also a red circle turned on and was told that is the anti theft thing on the car can you provide feedback please.

    • @TheBORG580
      @TheBORG580 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mel & Nel you are going to need torn bit 10 and 13 to complete the process.

    Heads up, a Jeep Liberty requires T20 screwdriver to remove the covers.

      What size is the smaller torx screw that holds on the ignition switch? Also it looks like a security type screw that has the little notch in the middle.
