    I cried when Tommy left Richmond. He told me he was offered the job again at the start of 1982 but declined as he had given a hand shake agreement to continue to coach Collingwood. Richmond appointed Francis Bourke and and the Pies sacked Tommy shortly into the 1982 season.
    I cry thinking about the premierships we’d have won in the 80’s if Tommy had have taken the job

    Love his comments on the Lions and how they played their footy back in the 3-peat era.
    "Kick long, run in numbers and through the lines. So simple its embarrassing". LOL!
    LOVE the comment on stats Vs scoreboard...so f---ing true. A lot of coaches will feel satisfaction out of possession stats than actually winning the bloody game.

    I met the late Tommy Haley in 1989 when he took then Northern and Echuca league side for a training run prior to that year's grand final against Leitchville.
    Koondrook won that year and for me, Tommy was a football person I will never forget.
    His passion for the game and a
    insistence on one handball, one kick is still factual.
