Nikon Z7 III - Launching at Competitive Price?

Will the Nikon Z7 III be 2024's best camera? Nobody knows since it hasn't launched yet. However, rumored specs, likely based on competitors' offerings, suggest improvements. With the Z6 III also expected, Nikon is likely working on the Z7 III, particularly enhancing autofocus over the Z7 II's weakness. So what are we getting this time?

If Nikon made decent mirrorless APSC cameras and lenses i would be tempted

It sounds like there's some intentional crippling of the Z7-III which is a huge mistake. Without a vastly improved AF system over the Z7-II, I don't think there would be much incentive to upgrade. The Z7-III might be better for sports and wildlife photography, and the Z6-III should be more video, portrait, and landscape centric. Nikon needs a mirrorless replacement for the D500 either APS-C or full frame.

I think there is too much overlap in the lineup - why not just make a Z8mkii with a 60 mp sensor? They also need to make a serious APSC sensor body, the like of a "Z500" which is rumored to be a Z90.

The z8 has a dual sensor. I don’t think there is a 60mp dual sensor.

Nikon has miss the bus ,now its not easy to make people switch back without any strong reason.

Maybe you are right. If I had invested thousands in RF or E mount glass I wouldn't just move back to Nikon Z, whatever the Z7iii would be. On the other hand, there are still a lot of people who haven't switched to mirrorless yet, or that are using an adaptor for their non-mirrorless lenses. For them, Nikon very much is an attractive offering. Personally, I think the Z7ii was already a great body, I am just hoping Tamron releases the 50-400mm for Z mount :)
