    The thing that always get's me about Allen's work is that it looks standard factory-built at first, then you do a double-take when things start to catch your eye and you really start to notice the level of what he's achieved.
    My dad Tony had a Honda SS50 as his first bike way back when and he still talks of it fondly, even today after riding bikes for over 40 years, he still has that cheeky grin when he mentions it.
    After seeing what Allen has done to this, he was left simply stunned, then that cheeky grin crept back on his face again. True brilliance. Bravo and thank you Allen!

    This is very nostalgic to me, I don't know why. It's like something I wished my bicycle would be, as a young kid... Running over soda cans to make it sound like a motorcycle temporarily, until the can fell off. You have an incredible gift, sir.

    That is beautiful! The small capacity v-twin sounds like a well-oiled sewing machine. As with all your projects the engineering and attention to detail is flawless. If I didn't know the original honda engine configuration I might have mistaken it for a factory model! I'm intrigued to know how the crank/conrods and timing chains are arranged. Congratulations on producing another incredible feat of engineering!

  • @gourishankar52

    Of all Allen Millyard's admirable project bikes, this is my personal favourite. And it has given me great pleasure to attempt to work out how he made it: the extensions to the left crankcase half and front camchain tunnels (the width of a conrod) must have taken great skill and patience to cut and weld. The roof of the crankcases would also need reinforcement to anchor the rear cylinder studs. The oil feed to the rear cylinder top end had me flummoxed until I saw how he'd tapped a feed pipe from the oil pump outlet up to the base of the rear cylinder (the oil flows to the top ends past the head studs via a restrictor valve). Such a lot a thought and work going into such a small engine - but what a great sound! Damn fine work, sir!

Or is it just pure talent and natural ability? My Stepbrothers are like this. One can work wood any way you want it--houses,furnture,etc. Other can do this type of fabbing with basic hand tools. This gentleman is a bloody good engineer. Here in the uk the weather is crap, and there is bugger all on TV, so we have sheds. In these sheds some of the most mind boggling inventions come to life.
      The British are pretty good engineers in general, we are just crap at marketing and being proud of what we create.
      Well done mate, improving on a honda is a difficult job, you nailed it.

    • @Spac8
      @Spac8 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Huw Bishop I could not agree more, well said. We can engineer amazing things, (The Airbus A380's wings are made here!) but we're not the boasting type and I think we just like to take pride in our own work without bragging about it. There are a lot of daft British inventions that have proved invaluable in history - take the "Churchill Funnies". Modified tanks to help with the D Day landings. Some floated and could be launched around a mile out to sea, some had bails of sticks on the front ready to drop into anti tank trenches so they could drive over them, and one had a flamethrower that sprayed a petroleum jelly (later developed into napalm) towed in a bowser behind that were effective at clearing machine gun nests and shelters. They proved extremely effective, and the US landing that only used the floating tanks (and launched them too far out) suffered heavy losses compared to the main Normandy beach landings. We're a funny bunch, but I wouldn't be any other way.
