Brenda I've only just discovered this demo but absolutely love the card. I had not thought of using wax paper to help the stylus glide. I usually wipe the vellum with a tumble dryer sheet. However the wax paper does also act as a guard to prevent oils from your hand marking the vellum. So thanks for a great tip.

Years ago this technique was very popular here in Puerto Rico for card making in combination with the piercing technique. A couple of years ago I bought a pack of vellum paper to try it out but I was looking for some kind of patterns for the embossing & never did it cross my mind to use stamped images. But this one is truly timeless. Is there a specific ink you use on the vellum? I'm always smearing ink. Maybe I don't wait long enough for it to dry or maybe I'm just using the wrong kind of ink. blubonnettx I used Black Stazon which is a permanent ink. You do need to wait a minute or so for it to completely dry since the Cardstock Vellum has kind of a slick surface.
WOW this is so pretty,I have never used vellum,but you make it look almost easy, I do have some printed vellum,that came with a christmas card pack last year,could you apply this technique on that too?Thank you for sharing another beautiful card xx
Hi Elaine! You can definitely color the printed vellum and may be able to do the embossing if it's thicker and the printed image are in black. Let me know if you try it and how it turns out :-)
Margaret Fricke Thank you Margaret! I'm really not sure if cardstock vellum is at other stores, I only purchase from Stampin' Up! since I'm a demonstrator. It definitely is thicker than the normal vellum which is a little flimsy. I love this idea and made a card with hydrangeas. However, I cannot find a masculine design for green vellum. Any ideas for a masculine design that I could use this embossing technique?

Joyce B Hi Joyce! Regular vellum is thin and a little wispy. Cardstock Vellum is thick, like cardstock. If you try to rub the stylus on your vellum, you should be able to tell right away if it's cardstock.

Hi Ginette, the foam mat give a soft cushion to press the stylus into to start breaking the fibers of the vellum to get that "molded" look. Hope that makes sense :-)

I am pretty sure I used the Black Stazon ink but it does take a little longer to dry because of the vellum.

Denise Ward Hi Denise, I just tried it and you only have to color with a marker on the stamped side after you're done embossing. Great idea!

I stamp the image on the front and emboss with the stylus on the back. You can add color on either side. Hope that helps :-)
If you color the centers of the flowers before you emboss will the color show through?

Please make up your mind! The paper you are using is VELLUM, not Cardstock! There is no such thing as "Cardstock Vellum". Lovely card, though.
