Hi Steve - thanks for making a video about your experience shopping with us from the USA. Normally we do dispatch international orders within 1-2 days, but as you encountered Christmas was crazy for us! But I’m glad you stuck with us & that you really like the guitar. All the best, Lee
@@andertons Thanks, and the double-holiday timing was totally understandable. I love your innovation in these closet classic Road Worns. I’m crossing my fingers that maybe a tropical turquoise Strat with a maple fretboard will appear on your TH-cam one of these days 😎. But this is also a dream guitar for me. Happy 60th+ 🙌
@@SteveGuitar . . . You seem to be more of a dreamer than a guitar player Steve . . . Not that there is anything wrong with that, but you do seem a bit difficult to please.
@@DudleySchmedlap-s6iHe gave them a 5 star rating - why do you say he seems hard to please? And what makes you think he doesn’t play the guitar…🤷♂️
@@edwardjons8684 . . . I think he is hard to believe because of comment exchange in this string with Lee from Anderton's. That's why. The reason I think he's not a player since in that comment he seemed more interested in the color of guitars than he did in the playability. That's just my opinion.
American shopping overseas: "Sure, let's see how we can make it happen for you."
Canadian shopping in America: "We refuse to ship it to your country unless you accept an invasion."
@sluggo562 . . . Don't worry. There will be no invasion, just a tariff war.
Donald Trump the bully will make sure of that.
I bought a pedal from Andertons. Had it shipped to the US. Received in like 5 days. Terrific service.
Awesome, that’s great. Agree about their service 👍
One reason you receive items quickly when shipped through DHL or Fedex is, they are trusted and contracted to run their own customs offices at US points of entries. So your guitar didn't go through US customs, it went through DHL customs... Doing this does two things... It allows DHL and Fedex shipments to be processed much faster, and relieves traffic through US customs.
I bought an MXR Fat Sugar and MXR Super Bad Ass OD from Andertons in 2022 and I had them in less than 2 days!
I have been thinking about making a purchase and having it sent here to Florida, just because I watch & enjoy their channel so much. Feeling like I “know” the people I buy from is big for me, but I was nervous about costs, shipping times, etc. thanks for making this video!
Amazing! Glad it’s helpful, and it all turned out great for me. 👍
The best MIM I have ever seen. Congrats!
@@johnsmith-ug5tp 🙌 Agree, thanks!
Looks like a great guitar. Now if only Andertons got a similar 1968 Olympic White Fender Stratocaster made. I would buy it straight away.
Andertons customer service has always been great for me - good communciations and reliable. I’ve returned unused items I did not chime with too and they’ve always been quick to refund/exchange.
I’ve bought a few guitars now from shops in the EU and honestly they’ve taken less time getting to me in Canada than domestic or US shipped. I wouldn’t have a concern ordering from Andertons or many UK or EU based stores.
Agree!
When is Anderson’s going to start issuing a Pete danish purple telly?
I bought a drum machine from Anderton's a few weeks ago. It's great! Generally, I buy gear from _local_ music shops rather than online, but for some things it's so much easier to buy from the Internet, and Anderton's is probably the most well-known online music gear retailer in the UK.
I bought a Behringer Centaur Overdrive klon thing from Anderton's. It took a while, as it was backordered and a month out from Christmas. The only thing I would say is it was shipped requiring a signature or a sign off that legally absolves them of any responsibility for shipping damage. So I had to leave work to be home to sign for it. Customer service was very proactive about the backorder wait and kept me informed via Email when they received their order and when it was shipped out. I would buy again, but maybe wait till I have a larger order, so I'm not losing wages to receive a $60 guitar pedal.
A couple of years ago Anderton’s did a limited run of Vintera Road Worn Strats in Candy Apple Red and in Daphne blue. They eventually ended up partnering with Chicago Music Exchange to carry them in the US. I’m not sure if they ever put a number on the size of the run, but it was probably a lot more than 100. The CME price was $1275. They’d put them on sale occasionally and I was always tempted, but for Black Friday 2023 they were $400 off. I couldn’t resist and got the Daphne blue. The checking and wear looks amazing and isn’t overdone at all, came with pure vintage 59 pickups and it sounds fabulous. It’s probably the best bang for the buck guitar I own! Congrats on yours! The fat 60s pickups are killer.
I bought a tele-ultra from CME that was a CME & Anderton's exclusive. Amazing guitar. The customer service from CME was 1000x better I ever had with Sweetwater.
@@bizarrodude3987 That’s awesome, congrats too! I had my eye on the Daphne blue but never pulled the trigger. Agree on these pickups…they’re really really good 👍
Granted, fantastic store. I'm just struggling with the notion of you purchasing a usa/ mex made guitar from the UK when your based in the usa.
💰💰💰
@@Leftandyguitar I simply wanted a brand new fender road worn in fiesta red or blue or blonde. Then this one appeared
Mexico is really coming up in the world if guitars made there cost £1,500. That would have been unthinkable for anything not made in the US a few years ago. Anderton's is just down the road from me and they're nice friendly people.
Thanks for the video! Wondering if the fretboard edges are rolled? I'm eyeing the telecaster right now.
@@Texas_nc yep, mine are. No sharp frets either. Set up perfectly!
I bought pedals from Andertons, even after the currency differences I still got way more pedal for my money vs other state side shops. Shipping was fast and I even got a certain purple loving guitarist to sign one of them ;) Thanks Andertons!
@@TheColton0117 whoa! Congrats on the signature and the cool gear😎
Gibson not allowing shipping to the USA may be bc it is a guitar meant for sale just over there. Fender does that with the Japanese made guitars. Trogly’s Guitar Show has a guy buy the Japanese Fenders he wants over seas, and then he buys from the guy.
Good to see that your enthusiasm for this Strat matches my one. I’m in Scotland, UK I’ve dropped you a sub as well. 🤟🏻
Awesome, thank you! And glad you’ve got one too. Great guitars. Glad you got free shipping too 🤣
@@SteveGuitar 😂
I love Andertons! I am planning to buy much more from them but just a friendly bit of info, Guildford is in Surrey not London
To be fair, he said ‘London Area’. To anyone in the U.S. where city metro areas are often way bigger than London, it’s an easy assumption to make.
@@jonnystorer5473 clearly I don’t know my UK geography 🤣🤣🤣
@SteveGuitar it's alright, it's not far it's just not in London. I have family in Surrey and when I was a kid I thought it was in London 🤣
I've bought 3 guitars and assorted pedals from Andertons over the past 10 years. I always found it to be a great experience.
I have been shopping at andertons for a number of years.really, good company.❤🎸🇬🇧.
I'm sure they are but I cannot abide their TH-cam channel.
Congrats man, that is a beautiful instrument! Love the closet worn concept! I need to visit this store more often, I only live about 20,30 minutes from it 🤘🤘
@@Mr_Ashley whoa! I’d love to go see it in person. You should totally go. And thanks for the nice words!
I live in Spain and I buy all my gear (guitars, pedals amps etc) from Andertons, it's great every time.
I’m debating getting one if those teles, Andertons is an hr from me by train so looking to go soon
I am with you...that fiesta red strat 64...ebony, black fretboard...yes
Fiesta Red is my favorite Fender color. Great vid. Thanks.
The price you end up paying for a guitar if using a credit card is higher than the exchange rate. There are fees for converting USD to Euros and British lbs and another fee for the foreign transactions. Use a Travel Card or do an international wire transfer to avoid these fees. US customers don't pay the crazy 20%+ EU VAT Taxes.
Watching this with one eye and the other on the dhl app for my strat :) can’t wait 😁
@@alli1170 Hahhaa. Awesome! Report back when you get it 😎
@ Got ittt!! 😁loving every bit of it! It’s my first proper guitar (played knock offs versions) besides needing a setup everything is perfecttt! Was thinking of putting a thornbucker in the bridge lol might get some hate for that but need something versatile
i live near andertons i will say great shop really great people will aleways give u a discount i will add THE uk closes down for nearly two weeks at christmas due to holidays
@@electoplater yep, I knew when I found my newest guitar online on Dec 24 to just be patient and let them enjoy the holidays. As Lee said in his comment, normally they ship in 1-2 days even for international
Great Video! So did you have to do anything else Steve besides buy it and put in your address? Any other fees with delivery or anything?

@@SteveGuitar awesome man! Very helpful :)
In the US you don't have to pay custom duty/fees and/or local VAT on import product ?

So you bought a Mexican-made Fender from the UK for $1600, when you could have gotten a lightly used USA Strat on Marketplace for $900 w/ a hard case? Why?!
Because the guitar he wanted was only available at Andertons.
@@Snej-n2r 👆 What he said 😎
Beautiful Strat! Love the return to a more vintage era pallette. I think this particular Strat was worth it. ✅
@samborn7120 . . . . Why was it "worth it"? . . . How is it any better than any other? After he gets through paying FedEx charges, duties and his state's tax (yes, states charge tax on imported goods . . . I found that out the hard way when I got a $1,250 tax bill on goods imported from Hong Kong a few years ago).
They can sell Fender to USA? Thomann can't.
Fender and Gibson don't allow them to ship to the US on products that are available from dealers here. The only reason they were allowed to ship that Strat to you is because it's an Andertons exclusive that you can't get here. It's the same for other European dealers, like Thomann. They aren't allowed to ship most US brands to the US either, because the manufacturers want you to buy from a US dealer. I know that's the case with Fender and Gibson, and is probably the same with Martin, Taylor, and others as well, and may also be the same with some brands that aren't US based, like Yanaha, ESP, etc., if there are US dealers.
Exactly the reason- they have agreements with their local dealers that they will not be subject to competition from 'foreign' dealers.
Example: i am an expat working in Greece atm & i have tried to buy a Gibson standard from 3 different EU countries (due to them having lower Price/VAT) & i was told that they cannot ship to Greece (I tried the Netherlands, Germany & Ireland).
Its all about each dealer in their respective country having a monopoly on the said gear- this allows them to sometimes charge stupid prices.
If money is not an issue & you are looking for a particular piece in another country that isnt available in your country, simply use a freight forwarding company, there are a few good ones around (Google is your friend).
@@DougMen1 great to know, thanks! I didn’t connect the dots there 🙌
That pickguard is more like '63 specs. '64 was the first year of the modern screw layout and the last year of mint green
Interesting! Great to know, thanks 👍
Your hand on the mouse keeps banging the table and your mic is picking it up. Kind of annoying.
Good points, I’ll work on that. Thanks👍
Why does everybody hate mids so much? I have a '67 SG Special with the original pickups. It's mid-rangey as hell, and has that roar I love.
Did your credit card charge you to convert from Dollars to Pounds? Was there a duty or tariff?

Man I’m jealous! I’ve got a Road Worn Fiesta 50s that I … like but don’t love. I think yours looks way better. I could get a Vintage 2 but I already have the white one. I don’t want really 2 of the same year. Maybe I’ll go Custom Shop. I’m obsessed with fiesta red lately
@@deanmccaskill5495 you know they’re not sold out right now 👀😎🤣
Loos like they are to me?!?
I bought a purple Squier Telecaster from them that you can't get here in the states. I too give Andertons a 5 star rating, for smooth transaction with prompt shipping.
I gotta say the Andertons back plate and certificate of authenticity were pretty cool!
@@silverman169 agree!
You probably paid way too much after all that shipping and tax and exchange costs - rates . ✨🎸✨🇺🇸
@trevorgwelch7412 . . . You are right. The bank fees will kill you, not to mention the bad exchange rate.
Nice that it came with an ashtray cover.
@@timbaker1320 agree, super cool vintage bonus 👍
I bought a Mexican Tele from a local Aussie shop..
Turned out it was a Danish Pete version (had no idea who he was, l do now!).
It was the best sounding Tele they had (to my lugholes)..
Mates rokup to play it! Its either a freak, or Andertons/Fender sorted shite out (?).. thanks Pete, Captain and Mexican Fenders!!
I am in the UK and have bought a few items from Andertons over the years and have never had anything but A1 service.
Nice guitar.
The shipping is a non issue. You chose to buy a product from an OS retailer and all things considered the shipping charge seems very cheap.
I suspect the shipping cost them a decent amount more than you actually paid for it.
Sound like Andertons have excellent customer service and did you a good deal.
Wait, yall in the US don't pay import taxes?

Congrats, these are beautiful! Let me know if you ever feel like selling it 😅

The reason Andersons couldn’t sell you a Gibson and ship it to the USA is that Gibson sells their guitars in the UK and a less expensive price than they sell them in the United States. If you were able to order from Anderson’s and get that good price Gibson wouldn’t sell anything in the United States. Thoman in Germany has the same situation with both fender and Gibson..
@@REBELSCL very helpful to know! Thanks for sharing that 🙌
Andertons is the best feature of Guildford in Surrey as far as I am concerned. Your guitar would have been imported to the US anyway but let's hope Mr Trump doesn't mess up any future import purchases too much. 😀
Me a european would not dream of buying a Fender Strat here at home US is the place to go. There are an very disturbing reason for it that I will not go deeper into as I do not want to ruin this guys happinyes. But, that is an Andertons edition.
Over them years there have been many simular setups, ok. I am not saying that is not a Fender because it is but...
I got my knowledge from Strat guys, players and collectors huge fans of the brand them go US.
You have to pay USA tax. Often inside transport costs ! Go to a shop and dont make trouble !
Synthetic Bone for that money ? Are you joking ?
Sorry mate, you seem to be a nice guy and all...
I love Andertons, since years...
But, as a US citizen, how stupid can you be, to buy a US/MEx made guitar, from across the Atlantic?
And it's not even rare... It's a Strat!!!
Once again, Andertons is playing the pedal board, not the guitar.
You're lucky you ever got the guitar.
The dreaded Lacey Act Form is required for guitar imports into the US, listing the wood species of every part of your guitar to clear customs. Your guitar is a plant and the tonewoods genus and species need to be listed on the form. Gibson has a tonewoods article with the wood details in latin. You also need the HTS no. from the CBP website.
Suddenly I realized your intelligence was below relic.
Do you have any fake old looking tattoos, too?
Semper Fi
I couldn’t care less, about Andertons. In fact, I'm sick of hearing about them.
