I grew up on the Chesapeake Bay. We always soaked our fish in brine (Salted water) for at least an hour to help clean out the blood & cut down on the fishy taste. We always caught our own & rinsed them well with the hose before we soaked them. Also if you have a fish with a strip of dark meat in the fish keep in mind that dark meat itself is fisher than the white meat.

Hey I grew up on the bay too! We did, and still do, the same thing.
In the south Louisiana usa we soak all our fish in Louisiana hot sauce than deep fry it it will make any fish taste go away.
Can also soak in buttermilk or milk for an hour or more. We do this with catfish and it’s a game changer.

Smell less fishy is important to me.
Never wash salt water fish with fresh water. Take some sea water to clean it with and it will always keep better and taste better
It talks about the fishiness. I've tried cleaning it with salt water before, the smell and taste is still there.
