Draw Using Lines - Drawing for Beginners Course 10

Learn how to draw using lines. In this lesson you will learn how to create tonal value using:
1) Varying pressure on the pencil
2) Line Weight (Varying the thickness of your lines)
3) Hatching (Varying the distance between your hatches lines.
In the process you will learn about contour lines and also how to draw a seascape from a photograph using hatching and contour lines.

On a scale of 1 -10 how important is it to do the Tonal Chart with your pencil sets?

I would put doing tonal charts at an 11. Doing tonal charts teaches you how to control your pencils, shade correctly AND see tonal values correctly. 90% of the drawing is those 3 things, the other 10% is knowing how to create different textures, eye hand co-ordination and sketching skills.
