Omg!! U know at what level u r when u start imaging nebula (personally)I didn't knew of their existance. Its such a beautifull target!!! I think it's one of my fav Pics uf taken, and that's one of the best thing of astrofotography, that there's unlimited targets to shot and every day, thanks to people like u, we can learn about them. Hope u bring us new targets like this one!!

Great image and congrats on another publication in Astronomy Magazine. I'm sure you've mentioned it in other videos, but I don't recall why you capture O3 at 75/15. Is it to keep the Mean ADU down for that filter?
By far my favorite astronomy channel. Question if you see this... If you have done the Iris nebula how many hours does it need to get a really good image? I have about 6 hours of good data do far. TY Chuck. PS: RGB only
Thanks Anthony, I don't have any good attempts at the Iris nebula, but I would go long hours on it to try and pick up all those dark clouds around it. I like to stack my data at intervals to see how it's looking so far to give me an idea if I need more.
Nice image Chuck! Many congrats on getting published again and for the windfall! Doesn't the infrared on the security camera interfere with your capturing? Just curious..obviously it doesn't looking at your results, the reason I'm asking is I have a security camera looking at my Rolloff shed and was wondering if there is infrared light impact from this security camera that could bleed over to my imaging run? Thanks in advance. You out takes cracked me up yet again.
Windfall, lol. My cam is so small and far away from my scopes, that I don't see how it could possibly make a difference. The only way to prove there is an impact is for someone to capture some subs and show a with-and-without night cam comparison. My cam is nothing compared to the fog lights my neighbors have turned on in their backyards. Thanks peeb.

The reason I ask is I am having LP problems big times and trying to problem solve on how to control it, I have another Cam, call this Cam B, pointing down the side of my house toward my obs, the cam at the back of the house call this Cam A also points at my obs, (Like an "L" shape) when looking at Cam B via the software, the IR coming from Cam A lights up the whole area and was wondering if my scope camera was picking this up as well, just curious that's all. When I seen your set up I had to ask the question. My alternative now is to turn off the IR for Cam A before an imaging run to see if this helps, also I need something to take out the street lights that's causing the problem initially as well! LOL! Thanks for your reply.

Gorgeous image, Chuck. It's an unusual one. Almost looks hairy! Can I ask, does the ir emitters on your cloud cam interfere with your imaging? I was going to set up a similar night cam, but somone told me on a forum it might affect my imaging. Certainly doesn't look like it's bothering your data.

You wanted some run time before you provided your opinion. I have been following all your videos since and it seems to be behaving well. Could you comment now? Also, could you compare and contrast your CGX and the EQ6? I am still trying to weigh as many factors as I can before I take the leap and buy a mount. Thank you again and please keep up the great work.
Thanks Christopher, after using the EQ6-R Pro, I really like it. It guides well, it has never failed on a meridian flip. My CGX has failed the meridian flip many times with an RA Switch Fail or Dec Switch Fail (the mount needs to be powered on and off when this happens). My CGX has needed maintenance in the past. Maybe my EQ6-R will need maintenance in the future, but time will tell. But after almost three years, I'm still using the CGX. The EQ6-R mount handles a smaller payload though, so if you have a big scope - you might need a mount that is more heavy duty.

When I saw that image I immediately thought it was a star that was flying apart from fast rotation. I'll have to look it up to see why it looks like that.
Hey Chuck, Do you use 1.25" filters? They say on ZWO's site that there is no vignetting up to F5.0. Does that mean that 1.25s are okay with f7.5? Not quite sure what "up to" means; less than f5 ie. f7.5 or more than f5 at say f2.8.
Hi Chuck, Great video as always, I just recently went after this target after seeing your results on Astrobin. I had about 17 hours in total (8" F4 Newt with ASI 1600mm-c) on it but I could not get the blue's in OIII quite like yours. How do you get such vibrant colors in your processing?
Thanks Ivan, a lot of trial and error. I don't have a standard process so I couldn't say for sure how it was done, but I use both PixInsight and Photoshop in my processing to get the color that I want.

I have a new copy of PixInsight on my fast desktop, but I keep an older version of PixInsight on my older computer that I run SHO-AIP on. I never tried it on the new PixInsight. But if you get it working, I would like to know.
That guiding looks great compared to my avx mount. I mean its not a bad mount for the price but sometime i just want to impulse buy a dif mount and put a dunce cap on the avx.
@@ChucksAstrophotography You should do that for your next upload have the avx in the background with a dunce cap on. It would get many chuckles out of it. Hopefully celestron would forgive you.
As For your Outtakes, I would Love to see you do Just a Compilation Of all your posted outtakes Of the year. Perhaps as a Holiday/Christmas Post Around the Holidays. Make it a Annual tradition.

Do you have a mirror telescope? I find that my refactors don't have issues with temperature changes, but this time I think my focus issue was related to seeing conditions as my mounts were also guiding poorly during this period.
@@ChucksAstrophotography No, using a WO FLT-132. I have to refocus often at the beginning as the temp changes a lot, I'm sure the same is true for most folks.

Thanks Nick, yes - it's to keep the readout down for that filter. OIII does not have as much light pollution protection as Ha and SII.

I'm going to put mine back up. It's great for monitoring possible pier crashes and just keeping an eye on proceedings.

@@ChucksAstrophotography its bowed out like that because of the central star's rapid motion toward the apex of the brighter nebula. I was wrong.

I use 1.25". I never notice any vignetting even on my f/7.5 scope because I capture flats which takes care of it.

Chuck, I just downloaded the SHO-AIP script to try HOO in PI 1.8.6 and it runs as soon as I select it. Does it still work for you?

lol, that was funny. I demoted my AVX to only solar system objects, the CGX was a big step up.
