Looking back at the dizzying heights of the Disco genre, Peter Brown's 'Dance With Me' is one of the most memorable proponents of dance music from the late 1970's when disco was literally everywhere. Brown's album 'Do You Wanna Get Funky With Me' was released in 1977 and its 2nd single 'Dance With Me' was quintessential disco - with a funky groove, a repetitively sexy and fun lyric and some brilliantly performed and produced vocals; led in back up by Betty Wright. The song was a smash hit in America; making the top 10 and spending long enough in the Billboard chart to be the 29th best seller of 1978. Here in Oz and in Britain, we didn't love 'Dance With Me' - with it stalling at #52 and #57 respectively. New Zealand provided it with the highest chart placement #3.
TH-camr Roberto Rapozo brilliantly extended the dub mix of Peter Brown's hit, and I just love this version. I loved 'Dance With Me' all the way back in 1978, and as simplistic as this recording is, it transports me right back to a wonderful time in pop culture. I have used some 'Soul Train' footage to bring this great track back to life. One of the best disco songs ever!
