I used to fire up DA and then proceeded to watch the music video over and over and not even play the game XD. Sadly, the leader singer Mark Chavez left after the second album.

So that glass sting sound is the top of the guitar right on where the neck and headstock meet. Where the strings go into the posts, right by where the fret board is. The strings are floating and since they're stretched harder towards the post then the slackier bridge/Pick up range part of the strings are you get that super crystally sound. Now in standard tuning you get a Dun *one pitch higher* dun. *Half pitch higher* dun. *Half pitch lower but on a higher octave* dwan. But they play in drop D/C which is naturally an octive lower than E440 standard. Which makes it sound almost like its a Xilaphone. (Probably butchered the spelling on that poor instrument. R.i.p my 6 year musically theory degree too.)
LOVE these guys. The second album was very special to me 'cause I borrowed it from a friend after a break-up and listened to it repeatedly. Sadly this vocalist left after the second album. The fourth album is great too though. The third album was more hard rock than nu-metal, but it was still decent.
Also, yeah, this was the official theme song for MK Deadly Alliance, and this is the official music video. Not one of the best MK games imo... although I've barely played it. All you really need is MK Trilogy for the old school style and MK9. Which in many ways is like a modern re-imagining of MK Trilogy anyway.
Fun fact: in a bar in Nashville 15 years ago, this band rolled into town and was desperately looking for cheeba, so my buddies and I made some calls and helped out. They hung out, and bought me and my buddies drinks the rest of the night. Nice guys.

I don't know.... I always feel like Mark tried WAAAAYYY too hard to sound like his half brother JD and it just ruined it for me. I get it, they're brothers (half or not), so their voices are going to have similar sounds but it was so heavily present and produced in a way that was purposely made to mimic JD's sound, that i constantly thought Jonathan was doing guest backup vocals on a song everytime a new one would get released, but then id end up finding out it was still just Mark solely on vocals. I think this style is the most prominent on "Giving In" and that was obviously the 1st song I had heard from them since it was what brought them popularity and made them well known. I didn't know the singer was related to Jonathan at the time so I was completely convinced it was him doing guest backing vocals.
The CG video in it is just the same animations for the intro that illustrate the game's story, except for Quan Chi fighting Scorpion as well as just anything having to do with Scorpion. Those were either made as promotion for the game, or like Scorpion facing off with Adema: Made just for the video. Edit: The Scorpion and Quan Chi fight might tie into Scorpions story, that he gets betrayed by Quan Chi and sent into the soulnado, before being pulled out and becoming the champion of the Elder Gods. Good stuff
