Toronto designer here :) Definitely enough room for something above your bed! You have plenty of space. Another thought is to maybe put a mirror behind each nightstand, a fun play with light and dimension. You could do a dark lamp for the nightstands, but honestly I think even a glass one would look nicer. Or something with a more interesting shape. Overall thoughts, at the moment your room looks very flat. You can still have a monotone look, but you need to layer with textures to give the room depth. This is definitely why you get the feeling of the space "missing something". If you want actual suggestions for light, art, etc I can send you some ideas, let me know!
I was rewatching your witch saga, just marveling at how far you have grown. Not many influencers act their age, so I unfollowed many because the content was no longer relevant. Tara, on the other hand matured before me. I went from occasionally watching to getting so excited to see an upload 😂 talking about family, homes, traveling, reading etc - it’s nice to see an influencer age with me and I’m so obsessed (healthily ofc).
For your bedroom: I think lime-washing would add some great texture. And I would do dark framed art/mirrors above dark lamps. Not a designer but I can envision it looking really great with the pieces you already have. 😊
@@alliemacdonald1688 yes! It adds a bit of ‘decor’ to that wall too so no need for anything above the bed frame! I must admit, I said wall lights as I had no idea what they were called🤣🤣
I’d love XOMaCenna’s take on your bedroom! Having the room completed or even just a mood board made by someone with a fresh new perspective could be fun content!
FOR YOUR BEDROOM: A little bit darker than a sage green lime wash with a black framed standing/hanging arched mirror behind your nightstand, paint the lamps you have now a darker green lime wash but keep your shades you have now to add dimension ❤️ OR Lime-wash wall behind bed in a dark colour, get a wall sconce (3/4 height of head board) for each side, gold/silver if wall is dark, black if wall is lighter, no mirror/decor. Wall sconces are usually the focal point on walls!
I’m seriously so excited to see the new additions to your home. Love to hear the excitement in your voice. I get that way too when it comes to decorating my place and it never ends always wanting to do more!!
I know this doesn’t pertain to the video but I really loved when you did monthly goals and checked in with us on that! I would do it with you and gave me so much motivation. It felt like you held me accountable.
So happy your done travelling for a bit .. I knew you’d hit the point of sickness soon . Relax take care of yourself and enjoy being at your beautiful home !! ❤️❤️
You could buy a cooked rotisserie chicken and just pull it apart and keep it in a container in the fridge to use on sandwiches and in dishes! That’s what I do :)
When i need to get energized i definitely watch Tera’s videos 🥰 wish you happiness all the way through your life 🤍 thanks for sharing everything with us 🥰
Yes, definitely something above your bed or even do an accent wall. A wood slat wall would be good. Put wall sconces on each side of bed instead of table lamps. I love neutral colors myself but I am coming out of my comfort zone and adding pops of color into my space. I just got my first 500 subscribers today. 😂😂😂. I am loving that you’re back to decorating your home because it is so beautiful.
A full length wall hung or free standing mirror where the two frames and olive tree are would be so nice and functional. Definitely add a medium contrasting lime wash and sconces after! 🫶
I swear bigger/taller lamps will help balance out your room! Everything in your room is tall or large looking (which I love), but the lamps look out of place because they aren’t to scale with the rest of your room. And I actually loved the dark grey that the lamps were before you made them white! That’s my take on it! Love ya 🤍
Hi Tara, designer here: black lamp for sure. The contrast is going to POP, also look for one with texture of some sort. If you do limewash - maybe consider doing all the walls in the room, the singular accent wall has kind of trended out. While the limewash may be light in color the texture will encapsulate your room and elevate the entire vibe.
Tara! omg I'm also a girl who hates cooking chicken. I grew up a vegetarian and literally just don't want to eat it after I've cooked it BUT I wanted to tell you! Next time you go to target and TJ's on the stateside bring home the grilled cooked chicken from Target. Its SOOO good. Its cooked and then you have it for whateverrrr you want
Hope you feel better soon. If i was to choose lamps i would go for black or grey geometric framework, i find it always looks classy and goes with all vibes. Love your content ❤
I enjoy your travel vlogs. The back home vlogs are so well done also. You have such good energy, jet lag notwithstanding. 😊 I honestly like your home like it is, but after I travel I feel inspired to DO something also. My results are an eclectic mix of neutrals peppered with textures and colors. I think a textured paper in the bathroom would be lovely. Maybe not dark, since it’s a downstairs area. I just painted my basement bathroom 90’s paneling and sealed the concrete floor and I’m very pleased with the outcome. I just enjoy you sharing ideas and designs. By the way, your chopping game is on point! Love the food videos too😊
Brady!!! That sandwich looks epic 😛 The room needs colour and/or texture Tara. Try hunting for a new lampshade in maybe wicker or an interesring shape. And, if you would like art over the bed, go for a narrow but long piece. Or a series of small images in matching frames. Even chosing a piece of fabric or wallpaper you like and framing can make a beautiful statement. 😊
Tara little technique to remove unwanted little friend in the house and back to nature. 1) Take a glass or clear container and a piece of hardpaper (envelope is my go to) 2) place the container over it, now it might move inside don't panic and stay still!, 3) slip the paper under the container while "scooping" it to trap it in the container, 4) now you shoul've been able to have the thing locked in so go outside and at the count of 3 take of the paper and throw the litttle friend in freedom! I do not really like them either but i feel more in control if one has entered the house!!
The Prada shoes are so gorgeous omg will be saving for those!! Maybe put mirrors behind the night stand lamps(rh vibes) + add throw pillows/throw blanket on the bed to bring in warmth + add some small framed photos or candles on the night stand to feel cozy.
so glad that your back safe and sound girl 🥰 gonna miss the London vlogs. can't wait until you go back there again soon... 😉 Also love that your bringing a-lot of positivity, self care and confidence in this vlog. You really went for that chop girl. No second guesses, just straight CHOP. 💇♀ 😜
Keep lamps & add 5 b&w travel photos (3 squares or landscape format framed pics above bed frame to create a horizontal and two vertical rectangle portrait frames above lamps)
If they grabbed all your vlogs and put them on Netflix as a show, I’d watch them religiously. I can’t get enough. Been watching you for years now. I went months without watching TH-cam and now I have to catch up. I can’t watch the new vlogs until I go back months and watch where I was up to. Needless to say I’m months behind but I’m excused to watch the progress
You need wallpaper to break it up! With a wicker pendant. You can get them from ikea with cords that fixate anywheres in the room. It would add a lot of dept your your room and make everything bigger
I get excited for every Tara stage, travel vlog, home vlogs, bestie vlogs lol. I'm feeling like I need the chill at home vlog before we ALL jet off to another location with her haha. Love u Tara xoxo❤❤❤
Bedroom lamp idea: Try a neutral again, but some textured more darker natural shade, more like a heshan texture/shade. OR Maybe even try some shelves with hanging plants above the bedhead or bedsides?
I think a lime wash in a sage green color and maybe some bubble glass lamps or some cool bedside wall sconces in black. I think you should print off 2 of your fav London spots for those frames!
Feels good to finally be caught up with your vlogs just spend the last hour or so watching your travel vlogs😊you chopping your hair is really giving me the want to chop mine😅
Downstairs bathroom needs more lights, esp if you plan on doing a dark colour (I do like that idea) but what about dark colour on only the bottom half of the room? Or you could do a dark ceiling!!! That would be so cool 😊
Ok so for above the bed you could get a short and wide peice of art, or three short peices that go together... Try a beige lamp shade... And get one or two beige accent pillows. Get one long skinny art peice for behind the tree. Hang the two picture frames in the office potentially??? For the bathroom I really think you should keep it white but if you have to paint it something do a very very light beige /off white that will compliment the gold. I really think the white looks so good though. Maybe just find a different white you like better???
Limewash the wall then add the mirrors behind the lamps. Keep the base of the lamps and find a charcoal shade maybe. Black might be to much but a dark gray shade is look better. Good luck!
I like the idea of long mirrors behind your night stands. I also like the idea of glass lamps as well. This should add texture and dimension to your space.
For the art above your bed - you could do a smaller 3-piece set, and I have to say from personal experience - darker lamp shades make bedrooms feel much more cozy 🙂
1000% not a designer but I do love a good elongated oval mirror on each side of the bed with a hanging small lamp from the ceiling! Could be tough to figure out logistically, but Mitch can help! 🤪 it would REALLY elevate the place and make it more hotel vibes!
So happy to see you home again. It's fun to watch the travels but something about seeing you at home just makes me cozy. I also loved the sweats you were wearing on your first day back. Can you possibly share the link or who they are by? TY
Do a designer bag collection! I feel like you have a nice, rounded up collection that goes well with a lot, and I’d love to see a video like that. I always to see people’s bag collections, I’m addicted to them and have one of my own 😂
Do an accent wall behind your bed, to contrast the headboard and future lamp shades (if you switch them out from white), and maybe get some black lamps cause it will go with the rest, also brings it down to a more calming mood, and some throw pillows for the bed to match the accent wall.. tie it all together :)
I would do tall mirrors on either side of your bed and then something about the lamps: I can’t put my finger on it, maybe like dark, textured more round based lamps? And then the mirrors will add double light and also add something to frame your bed or make it look more styled without having to add art (like you said your bed frame is a little tall to put art above)
I think you should consider limewash for the wall and go for some hanging lamps from the ceiling in interesting shape and dark color. Or two long mirrors behind the nightstands with dark lamps. You need some height and more dimension.
How did you travel with the chicken sandwiches home with you? Did you have a little cooler? And also how long is the flight? I also get scared with chicken not being cooked all the way and when I see you bringing those sandwiches back with you makes me wonder if the chicken would be good. It makes me weary…please let me know. Or did I miss something?😊
I would do blacks lamps with white shades about the same size. You definitely have room for art work over the bed. For the powder room, I would paint the walls the color of the veining in the stone.
Love all your videos❤️ For your bedroom maybe try a peel & stick wallpaper on the wall just behind your bed just to break-up the white headboard & lamps & if you don’t like it take it off no commitment. It makes a big impact for not a lot of money. Then you can add the mirrors behind the lamps & maybe some art on the other walls that pull the colors of the wallpaper. I think a chair would look so good in that corner. These ideas have worked for me. Good luck ❤️
i'm in Ontario too ..if you go to a regular grocery store, like a zherz or metro store (not trader joes), they usually have hot deli areas where they sell pre-roasted cooked whole chickens, etc. they also have sushi that's really good & they are cheaper than buying raw chicken ..you can pull the chicken off and use that on sandwiches, put them in stir fry's etc. ..just a tip since you said you don't like cooking chicken. I do this often/don't like to cook them either.
If you put a vertical mirror, the lamps will look good. If you lime wash the wall and do a vertical mirror, the room with the same lamos would look GREAT!
You definitely need some texture in the room, I love side lamps they feel homey but I would go a ratten or raffia textured base to keep it earthy and warm and then a fur throw on the end of the bed for some layering ❤
Welcome home! I hope you start feeling better asap! As far as the lamps in your bedroom go, might I suggest you find some pretty brass or gold lamps that mount to the wall! That way you can use the nightstands for more fun and creative things to enjoy, vases, books, plants, sculptors etc. and the Bathroom downstairs I think it would be pretty to do some like either emerald green/ floral or like a elegant peacock moody blue green color...not around the sink but on the other side of the wall in the area with the toilet.
It would be really pretty if you got some kind of ”crawling” plant along the wall from beside the left nightstand and that goes above ur bed 🤔 and perhaps some darker brown/wood/texture fabric lamps
You could do long scones above side tables. But the length should be more than the head board so as to balance both side and add a 3 piece effect . This way the space above the headboard will not look empty and you can have balance on the wall.
Tara! If you struggle with cooking meat buy a meater meat thermometer! It’s life changing for cooking meat perfectly and tells you exactly when to take it off. Switching to chicken thighs over chicken breast helps with texture too❤❤❤
HOME SWEET HOME *again lol*!!! finally back for awhile and there are nooo words for how excited I am to be here :)
also - put the pictures in the frames and then decide! 🥰
glad that your back! it's always a great feeling when your home 😊

Yes!!! The lack of depth like in the bedroom gives it a sterile “hospital” look like kim k’s house. Needs more warmth for sureeee

You’re excitement on creating healthy routines and overall positive outlook on life is a bright light to my deep dark depression
For your bedroom: I think lime-washing would add some great texture. And I would do dark framed art/mirrors above dark lamps. Not a designer but I can envision it looking really great with the pieces you already have. 😊
You should scrap the bedside lights and see about installing wall lights either side! I think that would tie in beautifully with the room :)
Yes was going to comment this! Sconces for sure! And then you can style the bedside tables
@@alliemacdonald1688 yes! It adds a bit of ‘decor’ to that wall too so no need for anything above the bed frame! I must admit, I said wall lights as I had no idea what they were called🤣🤣
I've been wanting wall sconces for months there! They would be perfect!!!
@@meggieboohbear I do think they’d 100% go perfectly with her room wouldnt they!

Not just you Tara…spring has always been my favorite season exactly for the reason you stated! It has been making me so happy too!!!
Love your travel content but nothing like vlogs at home 🙌🏻🤍💃🏼 Def my favs!
You can get pre-cooked chicken at most grocery stores, you could look into that for making your own sandwiches :)
Sorry you're not feeling well but I love Toronto Tara! The vibe you give off at home is so peaceful and comforting.

Lamps a nice moss dark green shade. Gives thay earthy nice vibe without a harsh black
I like the idea of hanging pendants in your bedroom. It could add to your wall if you don’t add art work as well as serving as unique lighting.
Hope you feel better soon. If i was to choose lamps i would go for black or grey geometric framework, i find it always looks classy and goes with all vibes. Love your content ❤

A glass based lamp in my head looks very good for your nightstands!
Lime wish with a statement textured peice that goes up the wall and to the ceiling , and on the ceiling .
Bathroom textured neutral wpaper
Do hanging lights from the ceiling beside your bed, it looks very elevated and gives you more surface area on your nightstands.

The bag and shoes I am obsessed 😍😍😍
I like the idea of long mirrors behind your night stands. I also like the idea of glass lamps as well. This should add texture and dimension to your space.
I think limewash first! Then either a black framed mirror or black framed art work above the side table
For the art above your bed - you could do a smaller 3-piece set, and I have to say from personal experience - darker lamp shades make bedrooms feel much more cozy 🙂
Haven't watched TV in weeks but here I go binging another season of Love is Blind..lol

Dark/royal blue for the downstairs bathroom walls 🤌
Tara…how do you make your tofu? I’ve tried it here and there, however I feel like you have to spice it up a lot in order to make it taste good.
You should try like a mini picture or two minis above the bed. I’m really into micro art right now 😌

I think a medium size white lamp would work with a rectangle painting above your bed. The mirrors should be forward too.
Get a couple of matching neutral throw pillows! Maybe a glass lamp? And maybe tall skinny mirrors on the wall behind your night stands?
Welcome home! Hope you feel better. I really like how the blue looks on you.
I think you should consider limewash for the wall and go for some hanging lamps from the ceiling in interesting shape and dark color. Or two long mirrors behind the nightstands with dark lamps. You need some height and more dimension.
welcome home tara😊!! loved your trip vlogs, but now it's home sweet home!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤!!!!
I love Brett and tiff!!!

I think Farm boy also has a hot deli, they probably have pre-cooked chicken also . just an idea tho
i would put a beige naturie tapestry in the back and BIG nightstand lamps
Would love to see your Pinterest inspo when you decide what direction you want to go with the decor.
Do the mirrors behind the lamps!!!! And do big lamps! It gives it such a luxury hotel type vibe!! Especially with the mirrors in the back

take the lamps out altogether & hang some modern sconces!! frees up space & looks more sleek
Switching to chicken thighs over chicken breast helps with texture too❤❤❤
I have one!!! I still feel too gross & don't trust lolol
