I said this countless times and I will repeat - there are only two ways to make a proper song cover: make it as close to the original as possible or make it your own. Tool made it their own thus rendering any debate on which version is better pointless, we can only express our opinions on which version we like more. Personally, I am simply glad I have more in my arsenal of awesome music, and I'll leave it at that.

I have great respect for All bands, having said that. You can't say one is better then the other. The technology that is today was not around when Zepplin was making music! Not a fair comparison. However when you Look at Zepplin, Floyd, Rush, Santana, and many others of that time in the 60's and the 70's, the music they made was way ahead of there time. Everything about all these bands was completely phenomenal!

Man, I really love Zeppelin and Tool, but those Zep and Tool fanboys are just annoying. I like this version, but the original is just better in my opinion. Robert's vocals are just better and more mysterious than Maynard's, John's drumming is more groovy and not to mention the guitar, keyboard and piano solos. Also, the original was recorded around 1971, and that's just impressive. If someone likes Tool's version more, that's fine, we all have our opinion and Tool is awesome too; but there are people arguing that the original is no match for this one or the other way around, just because it's their favorite band. Don't be that much of a fanboy, no one likes that. Chill out and go listen to whatever version you like more. That being said, long live Led Zeppelin and Tool!

I will take this cover like I did when Led Zeppelin covered, "When The Levee Breaks". Tool took Led's song and made it their own BY A LONG SHOT! This is their version of it just like "When The Levee Breaks" is Led's version of that original 1920's song. While they have same name, they are completely different songs.

No! Although i love Tool, and their version of this song, i can't agree. Led Zeppelin done something magic with this... and this song always belong only to them. Jimmy Page wrote this! Jimmy is genius, simple. You can't say that someone who only played this is better 😢 I know that Tool done this song different, but still can't compare...

Imo this song evokes such an insane level of emotion for me. Much more then Led Zeppelin's. Though I know how to play both of them and love them both. This song just bleeds melodic emotion. Tool is so genius when it comes to how they pace their music. The slow build up into the loud scream towards around 7 or so minutes into the song is probably one of the best moments in tools entire discography.

Oh, stop crying. I agree that he shouldn't have compared two very different versions of the same song but it's his opinion. If you're going to dislike and start hating on him for expressing an opinion you completely miss the point of an unbiased reaction channel. You wanted to hear something along the lines of "it's good but the original is better" but he conveyed what he felt. If he and other content creators started catering and became afraid of expressing their own thoughts/feelings then this platform would be a very bland place (and believe me that already happens enough as it is).
