Robotnik's grandfather didn't just release Shadow , he created him for a very special reason but i won't tell you yet cause the movie is right around the corner . I'm so excited. Also fun fact Jim Carrey actually got his hair shaved for this movie on camera ( there is behind the scenes footage of Agent Stones actor shaving it ). So he was completely bald for some time.

Actually, they goal is pretty separate. Eggman is to rule the world Darth Sidious style hint why he finished saying"rule humanity" while Gerald and Shadow however... Is outta grief and anger on a genocide level. If it plays out anyway, they already took liberties by having Gerald still alive.
